I do think that Carlos is trying to keep her isolated, mainly because of the way he says, "If she knew how bad it was, she would... cease to… more function."
It's a possible scenario, sure, but Carlos has to have been keeping her away from things, at least a little bit, so even in the case of self-defense, why would she be out there with everyone else with a rifle?

The easiest way to judge how strong a group is is to just look at how far they've gone, and this group has stayed together for far longer than the old group did.

I don't know much about this group but Clem's old group seemed like a stronger one and look what happen to them.

For now, I'm saying that the Cabin group is stronger, simply because they've survived with more people for longer.

My personal thoughts are that maybe Rebecca's baby is Carver's, and that he's keeping them there for Rebecca to have her baby. From that point… more on... Well, I'm not sure actually. If Carver is a more neutral villain, he may just keep them locked up. If he turns out to be totally evil, then he'll probably try and kill them.
Won't happen, the achievements came out and it looks like it's the third last chapter. Still near the end, but there definitely won't be a cliff hanger like that.
