Can ... really die?
So it's said that if you don't click on anything when it's time to select whether to surrender or find Kenny & Luke then Carlos gets his throat slit. Is this true? If so, do you still have to take a side, or will one be automatically taken?

I don't think so, but I did choose to surrender to Carver, there was no way I was gonna take a risk like that
That's not true. Carlos lives no matter what. And if you don't do anything then Rebbeca and Alvin make the decision to surrender.
