When I first saw him:

When he called Ben a shitbird again:

When he started insulting Nick and Luke:
He didn't put Ben down? When did he say that?
When the two of you are sitting on the couch in front of the fireplace.
I've seen both scenes, but all I heard him say about Ben was that he couldn't save him.
Yeah. I'm pretty sure Ken put Ben out of his misery. Explaining Ben being stopped mid sentence by a gunshot from Kenny's pistol. I'm sure of it. If he hadn't, you would hear Ben screams and walkers eating him alive, plus he would've finished his sentence. I think what Ken meant was that he couldn't save Bem from the pole that he was impaled through, so he put him out of his misery.
That's what I think too. Kenny wanted to save Ben's LIFE, but he couldn't. So he put him out of his misery as a next best thing.
I'm relieved that guy was deliberately camping up his reaction to Kenny's scene, otherwise it would have been just a teensy bit awkward.
But seriously, I was hugging a pillow too - "on the inside".
