  I always thought it was D for Dad since he gave it to her. Something like " Daddy's little girl"

  I don't think there's a known meaning. I like to believe that it stands for "dad" though since it was him that gave it to her, like she symbolically carries him with her everywhere through the hat and gains strength in it.
