I'd just like to point out here that nearly everyone got it. That was some good and subtle writing there on Telltale's part, it seemed overw… morehelmingly obvious to me that they were lovers, and I was extremely glad that Walter's and Matthews relationship was represented just as any other intimate relationship would be if put in the same writing circumstance.
Good job on not writing it to be ham-fistedly overt about it, that would probably be a misrepresentation what being gay actually should be to society. (By that I mean, that they are simply people who love each other romantically/intimately, like any other couple)
EG:
("Hey guys have you seen my Gay lover Mathew? We are really gay.
Kenny: I like gays just as much as urbans!
Walter: Don't we all.
And Mathew and I are both men.
Men who love each other.
[Raises Eyebrow at camera]
Sexually.")
I know what you mean. It does suck that the first ever gay characters Walter and Matthew were killed pretty quickly. Though I kind of knew W… morealter was gonna die right after his big inspirational speech about the world. Sweet and optimistic people usually die in the Walking Dead lol.
Honestly though, I'm just glad that they were even PUT in the game at all. They were portrayed as really nice people, especially Walter. Hell Walter even had some character development. Watching him fall apart and seeing the nice lovable guy crumble away as he deals with the loss of his lover was a really intense scene. Telltale put some effort into them, and for that I deeply appreciate it as a gay man myself.
Thanks guys,
Walter was a dead man as soon as he allowed the cabin group to enter without raising any issues. Here are the mistakes Walter made which led to his demise:
He allowed the cabin group in without confronting them (Kenny was the only one who cared about his group's safety).
He was too nice to Bonnie (a random person sneaking around on his territory). He should have taken her in for serious questioning and killed her or ransomed her back to her group if need be.
The only good decision he made was that he held out for a possible trial on Matthew's death. Although Carver attacked soon after so we will never know how that would have turned out. But Walter did choose to NOT shoot Nick which is a courageous decision to make as he put his own emotions to one side in order to put into practice what he preaches.
Overall I feel Walter had it coming as he neglected his own safety and abused the stock of supplies he had. He clearly isn't made for this world. I'm surprised he managed to survive for as long as he did. He is better off dead rather than being a liability for Clem to deal with later.
True. Clearly Walter's camp isn't very organised. There aren't enough of them and they seemed to be living apart from the rest of the survivors. They should have at least taken Bonnie in for questioning. It's a long way up to be sneaking around looking for supplies. It was all too suspicious to begin with.
By taking Bonnie in it would have delayed Carver's invasion and when he did show up he would have to bargain her back rather than rolling up guns blazing. Oh well.
At least both of them can reunite once again...in the afterlife...
"They say the world is over, but I'll tell you a secret: it's not. People are more political now than they ever were before. In the end, we can't change the world. All we can do is continue to learn from each other; to empathize and use our heads... In any case, the point is: as long as we have our wits about us, we can always make the right choice. Right?"

I think you also need to tell Nick about Matthew and show him the picture when Luke is trying to say you both should try to cover everything up. I also advised him to confess. If you do that, and then fess up to Walter about what happened and say that Nick's a good guy, Walter saves him.
It goes to show that when you are too nice, you're most likely to die early (in the TWD universe). I gotta admit though that he needed more screen time, just like Mark from Season 1. I was expecting Walter to make it at least til the next episode.

It's a double-edged sword. I appreciate when a story isn't afraid to drop plot armor and treat the potential deaths of characters with legitimate tension, but there are always characters like Walter that I would have liked to see more done with.
I truly thought that Walter was a great charcter and am sad that he was killed of so early
It seems like telltale avoids charcter develop… morement alot of the time by just killing off a charcter when they get intresting
I know how horrible and unforgiving TWD is but still
Omid- knew nothing other than he likes the civil war, comes back in s2, BAM ded
Pete- Dream come true, new lee, we get a bit of his story with nick but thats about it, bit, BAM dead
Walter- First openly gay charcter in TT's rendition of TWD who's backstory we got a taste of.......Carver:"NOPE"
I feel like all of these charcters could have been much more fleshed out
I tried mentioning Matthew at some point (when Walter and Clementine went out for a walk), but beyond that, I made no mention of him, and kept saying no at every single step of the way. I showed Nick the picture, and told Walter he was a good guy. I even lied to Walter at first. Still, Nick survived. I don't know what the conditions are, but the "He's a good guy" option seems to be the main one.

Sorry but I feel Walter (and his boyfriend) were really sort of the walking dead's version of red shirts along with mark. There main role in the story was to die horribly and serve a reminder that the world is dangerous.
They are made nice people so there deaths are horrible as they were good people. Have to say though I saw Walter as being to nice as a warning sign, he was just to trusting to last that long

I liked how in the (Next time on) trailer, Kenny was like, walter may not have had to die if you had tried or something of that like, yet he said nothing about Rebeccas husband... but thats just from my choices.
I was very sad to see him get killed by carver he seemed like a nice person especially when he was told the truth about how nick had killed his friend he even saved his life at least in my game.
Comments
When he said my partner Matthew I was like "what?" But when he looked at the picture before he died I was like "Oh."
Not gonna lie, from the preview, they looked nothing like how they acted
I surrendered but then saved Alvin. In my "next time on" Kenny said "at least someone tried to do something".
Can't really blame Nick, if he wouldn't have taken the shot, I'm sure someone else woulda

Get those quotations out of here. The word Lover by itself is fine.
Considering he would've died regardless, the killing of Bonnie woulda made it much worse
I put the quotes because well, because I dont know really

I thought Walter was going to be a bit looney. And Matthew a tough enforcer of some sort. Instead they both turned out to be nice people.

To be fair he did defend the lodge against our group before he know clem and kenny where friends

If he wasn't nice this thread and most of his fans would likely not exist.
I hope him and matthew are together again

I get the feeling that those words will stick with Clementine for a long while.

It will, my friend.

Yup, I wrote because I was really angry with her. But I think she's "good", in episode 3 trailer you see Bonnie and Clementine laughing together so...

Walter's VA was really good, shame he was wasted on a "made to die" character
Hopefully. I'd like to hear of Walter in the future.
They might reuse the VA, they've been known to before.
He said "I don't know if we could have saved Walt, but at least one of us didn't give up".
I was very sad to see him get killed by carver he seemed like a nice person especially when he was told the truth about how nick had killed his friend he even saved his life at least in my game.
(?) Cart_hero will keep that in mind.
Pete and Walter were great guys. It's horrible to see them go.
He will be missed.Y always the nicest guys die y?
In my version he said; "Oh I miss Lilly"
Its like you said, too kind, too trusting. People like that just dont last long when its every man for himself.
Nick would not say that.
Too me, when I played, Walter had the "I'm not going to be around next episode" aura about him. I just knew he was gonna die.
Matthew too. He seemed like a good guy.
Dammit Matthew and your peanut butter craving!
