Am I the only one who thought Carlo's attitude towards Clem in ep2 was a bit unrealistic?

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

what I mean by this is that at the end of episode 1 the last time Carlos speaks to Clem the way I saw it he was a complete asshole and he even said he did not trust her and he had to stay away from sarah

Episode 2 starts around only a day after episode 1 and when Clem comes back to the cabin he is all nice and actually acts like he cares about her safety and now trusts her to look after sarah?

It seems stupid but the sudden change of attitude just felt unrealistic or unnatural

  • I think it was just him worrying about the other members of the group. There was no time to be suspicious when lives were possibly on the line.

  • That's because telltale didn't stick to decisions made in episode 1. You can get Carlos to trust you if you pick "I'm sorry, didn't know" or he'll tell you to "get away from my daughter" if you choose anything else. They totally scraped that for episode 2.

  • Yes, it felt a bit unrealistic.

Clem came into the cabin and I was expecting a 'Where the hell are they?! It's all your fault!', but got a 'Clementine, are you alright?' in a concerned voice.

  • How was it that unrealistic? They had bigger things to worry about then Clem's trust issue so he took a bit of a risk, doesn't make it "unrealistic"

  • I think everyone in the group was too nice, both to Clementine and towards each other. It's like they were trying too hard to make us like this group so the choice between them and Kenny would be hard.

I already liked them. Need more conflict. We've got a Ben, but we don't have a Vernon, yet.

  • Depends on what you say to him when he asks for help.

  • Not just him, but Rebecca, too. You don't have to make a character likeable just because it is part of the main cast. Game of Thrones comes to mind. Us having to deal with flawed, maybe even unlikable characters in our group is a richer experience than sharing the spotlight with a bunch of bland martyrs.

It's like you relationship with Kenny and/or Lilly. You do things they disagree with, they give you hell for it, even when pursuing common goals; because we humans can be selfish assholes like that when we feel our ideology or person is threatened. I mean, what's with you threatening Rebecca and then being all "Can I feel your baby" in the next episode.

  • I think they lighten up on you after they know you met Carver and didn't gave them up? Also after the day or so you where gone they had some time to think trough about Clem and how they treated her.

Aye, but a bit of acknowledgement would have been nice. You kind of get that with Rebecca. A convo or two with the good ol' doctor would have done wonders.

I think the reason why Rebecca lightened up in Episode 2 was because she knows that Clem is still a child. She got freaked out when a kid came out of nowhere with a bite and the possibility that she could be working with Carver, but after the high tensions had settled down, she rethought her actions. I didn't blackmail her in Episode 1 as I knew there had to be something else going on to make a woman that resentful towards an eleven year old girl. Same goes for Carlos and everyone else in my opinion. People are bound to act a bit loopy when a threat is hanging over their heads, so it was realistic to me that they weren't rational at first.

And, you know, the apocalypse. :)

  • Haha, yes, that too.

  • No it isn't. Carlos had no alternative, and Clem was the only person who could have watched over Sarah.

  • I threatened her, but there was no malice in it. I just don't think my Clem is the type to let people push her around.

  • He was in an intense moment: you think he really cared if Clementine was trustworthy or not after three members of the group are missing?

  • They probably realized that the dialogue in Episode 1 made their entire cast sans Luke come off as assholes unintentionally and had to redo dialogue, hence the extremely long wait period.
