It means that Crawford eventually got into total anarchy and the leader probably fucked up big time while Carver's a smart man. He knows how to run a group of several people, has some kind of power over them and doesn't like people who are disobedient and makes sure nobody fuckes up.
So I'd say, Carver has more chances to beat the group even if he would've been outnumbered by Crawford - He's smarter than them.

Yeah as everyone else here said Crawford fell pretty quickly compared to Carver's group which still stands today,I feel like with all their weapons and skills they would dominate the fight.

Those machine guns are so fucking cool. Makes them look even more evil and badass.
Crawford fell because Anna Correa stabbed the doctor, he died and then turned into a walker, so the infection spread from the inside out.
