Did _______ Die too early?

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

Did Pete die unjustly? I noticed that people's feelings towards Pete's death was just as careless as Doug's. I actually liked Pete the most when I first met the group and it was to him I made my case to outside of the cabin. I know Pete's death played a role in the way Telltale wanted to develop Nick but Pete could have been great during the part where Nick shoots Matthew. Perhaps nick shooting Matthew could've lead to petes death after Walter found out and then nick feels guilty. Just an idea. Thoughts ?

  • petes death was necessary for nicks character growth, just my opinion though

  • Agree'd, plus don't you think he was a bit of a asshole?. Always trying to give nick a hard time.

Nick's hardly acted like a pleasant person giving everyone a hard time himself, which is why Pete was trying to set him straight with tough love.

  • Nick's having a hard time though and is under a lot of stress which he can't handle, and he has gotten nicer since EP 1. Pete seemed calm enough and yet still acted like a complete asshole (towards nick atleast - which is actually worse - nick was his family and he still gave him a hard time despite knowing all he had been through)

  • Pete was the last man of the group I wanted to die. But he did. I think that's enough proof that the game we're playing is the walking dead by telltale. For better or for worse. It fits the universe perfectly.

  • Not really. He had a decent amount of time as a character and was likable. Pretty much ringing the dinner bell for the walkers.

And since you brought him up, I'd say Matthew is the one who seriously died too early, and in such a pointless way. He was likable from the start, but we only had like three minutes of the guy.

  • We got to know Pete much better than many other characters from the first season (Brie, Mark, Doug/Carley depending on who you choose, never got to know that much about Vernon either). He's had a decent amount of screen-time and backstory and his death was definitely needed to further develop Nick. Don't feel like his death was a waste.

  • Pete was basically the leader of the group, and died to develop the others and make them step up to guide the rest - especially Luke and Carlos, who are both semi-leaders right now.

Also, anyone notice how at the start of the episode Carver is looking for everyone + Pete, then later on we find Pete's body with a bullet in it, and after that Carver seems to know Pete is dead?

  • i thought it was implied that carver did it, like the characters knew

  • He said that there was 7 people he's looking for, not including Pete or Nick's mom.. It seems like he's been playing with his food recently before striking.

  • There's also one of the things that you can say to Carver that might imply it was him. When your talking to him in the cabin there's an option at one point to say 'Pete trusted me' to which Carver responds something along the lines of 'did he, though?'. Implying he may have spoken to Pete before he shot him.

  • Your forgetting Pete was probably the only source of disapline and tough love nick received growing up and to be honest I think he's still growing up mentally, Pete was a source of calmness, trust but he was stern and tough he was a balanced character and I for one am really sad to see him go and wished he could've made it somehow. But that's telltale for you.
