The watch did play a good role...
Mild Spoilers
So when you go to the cabin in Ep 1 , there's a watch in the drawer of the room. You can take it...or leave it. Well that was obviously probably important. In Ep 2 , Once Mathew is killed and you are going in to search his cabin, you can talk to Nick and he says he forgot his watch at the cabin and he seemed upset and I think he might of said something about it being Pete's or something but what if you took it? Were you able to give it to him and make him happy or what? Why was this mentioned?

He's totally happy if you give him the watch, with no repercussions (I hope I got that word right) whatsoever.
you got it?!
If you mean whether I gave him the watch or not, I did. Played as nicely as possible, but before I did, I read some discussions on the forum, and found out that you can give the watch back to Nick, and he'll be grateful.
Now I think that this is a wasted opportunity for a conflict within the group. Oh, well.
Why do you want a conflict?
Like Lingvort said, if you give him the watch he is extremely grateful and doesn't ask where you got it from.
I mean that there COULD be an opportunity for it. It would just be an interesting turn of events. But I like the story the way it is now, so it's fine.
