Silence

Silence is a valid option.

There are many times throughout The Walking Dead when staying silent is a great response. Whether it invokes anger, sadness, or hilarity.

For example: In S1E3 when you have to jump off the bridge and you're trying to convince Omid to jump, if you stay silent he pushes you off.

What great moments have you found to stay silent? And feel free to talk about how you feel about these situations.

  • Haven't done my completely silent play through of season two yet!

  • Yeah, me either. Need to get around to doing that, from what I've seen there's a lot more hilarity to staying silent this season.

Funniest for me personally was second playthrough was not helping omid or christa onto the train they just scream at you what are you doing then when get on train scream at you more to funny but silent option didn't try many yet

  • I know it's funny to you choose silence when Sarah shows her gun to Clem (somebody from Telltale Staff said so) but I don't know what exactly it is.

  • I believe it results in Sarah pointing the gun at her own head and jokingly pretend shoot herself.

  • Thanks... weird Sarah

  • I find it funny to knock on the window to talk to Alvin in the first episode and then don't say anything.

  • Does someone say like "You're not someone who likes to talk" or something like that?

  • Don't know about s2 yet but in s1 when you first meet Omid and Christa, they'll say something like that. Staying quiet even results in Clem telling them who you are rather then you doing so.

  • In Episode 3, I usually remain silent when Katjaa asks who should kill Duck, as it ends up with her going off to do it herself and sparing Kenny the sight of her committing suicide. It also gives you an option to comfort Kenny, which I don't think has any real effect on your relationship but felt good all the same.

  • The only moment I stayed silent in my original playthrough is when Katjaa asked me who should kill Duck. Why the hell would she ask me that? It was the only dialog where I saw no valid answer.

If you show Kenny Duck's blood on the tissue in S1E3 and choose all the silent options you will get the Duckpocalypse easter egg.

In Long Road Ahead when you teach Clem how to shoot, she asks you:

Clem: "Is there anything else I should know."

    Lee: "..."

Clem: "I guess I probably know everything then. Being a little girl and all."

I picked it by accident, but don't regret it to this day! XD

If you continually choose the silent responses when Carver shows up at the cabin, half-way through the one-sided conversation Carver stops to check if Clementine is deaf:

Carver: "Can you hear me dear?"

Clementine: nods (with a scowl on her face)

    Carver: "... Ah. Okay."

One from Starved for Help: After picking th- taking off the assembly on the rear barn door, Andy St. John catches you red-handed. You can defuse the situation via the silent option, in which Lee awkwardly scratches his ear, shrugs his shoulders and marches straight past Andy as if nothing happened. This earns the following line from St. John:

Andy: "You know... you're a strange guy, Lee."

  • Best for me was the one when we first meet with Omid and Christa.

Clementine takes the initiative and ... well she is being her cute self :3

Though I was mainly referring to Sarah.

Around Every Corner, Kenny has just come back inside with Ben after finding the boat. Everyone is waiting for him.

Kenny: Alright, you want the good news, or the bad news first?

Lee: (just for the lulz) "..."

Kenny: I guess that was too hard a choice for you.

How I love silence in S2. Reminds me of S1 Clem...

But honestly, one of the most funniest instances to use silence is in the barn in E2 when confronted by Andy. Showcases a very weird Lee.

Also, this can only happen if you stay silent when Luke and Kenny are fighting at the dinner table:

  • Out of curiosity, what did your Clem say when teaching Sarah how to shoot the gun?

In Long Road Ahead when you teach Clem how to shoot, she asks you: Clem: "Is there anything else I should know." Lee: "..." Clem: "

  • Yeah, that's it.

What is that? I'm assuming that's when Duck turns and kills everyone, right?

  • I am using another save for S2, so I wouldn't know.

That dinner table silence option is really great. I just recently saw it in a Let's Play and immediately knew I had to pick it in my next playthrough. It is such a great reminder that despite her maturity and intelligence Clem is still a kid.

  • I heard if you stay silent enough times while in conversation with Luke he'll say something about him being an expert at talking to girls who don't like talking to him.

  • In "A House Divided", when Carlos and Rebecca left to find Luke and Alvin, Carlos tasks Clementine with watching over Sarah. Sarah shows Clementine a gun and asks us to show her how to use it. If you're silent... Mikejames' gif explains what happened next.

Huh, when did this happen.. i can't remember?

  • That's endearingly awkward.

  • If you refuse to act in the Meat Locker back in S1E2, you get some...Mixed results. Essentially, for the remainder of Episode 2, Kenny and Lilly act as if you tried to save Larry (Kenny's a dick, Lilly says you're cool, etc.). Once Episode 3 starts up, however, the "Previously on..." shows Lee pulling Carley back to let Kenny do his thing, and from then on it's treated as if you had helped Kenny.

A similar result happens if you refuse to help Shawn even after Kenny grabs Duck. The game figures that, since you didn't help Shawn, you must have helped Duck, and so Kenny never gives you hell for it.

  • I wish that, if you played Silent Lee (or Mostly Silent Lee), Kenny would say something like: "he was a man of few words, but a hell of a guy".

  • I wonder what happens if you stay silent during the major decisions in the new episode.

I'm guessing. Rebbecca and Alvin give themselves up

  • The funniest silence instance is Season1 Episode1, when they are arriving at Hershaels farm and Shawn trys to convince Hershel that they have to repair the fence.

Shawn: " Cmon Lee, tell him what you saw out there man! "

    Lee: ...

Angy Shawn: " Cmon, tell him! "

    Lee: ...

Super angy Shawn: " Tell him!!! "

  • Yeah, they give up, and you're captured as well.

If you stay silent again when Carver's holding Alvin hostage, Alvin dies.

I wonder what happens if you stay silent during the major decisions in the new episode. I'm guessing. Rebbecca and Alvin give themselves up

  • I just tried the part with Carver being silent, and I must say, it totally killed his intimidating presence. I loved it!

  • If something happens to Carlos that's probably going to be the outcome... The other option is probably Clem taking care of her and trying to do what Lee did with her. The part with teaching her how to shoot was awesome.

If you hide as Russell and don't respond when Nate sees you:

Nate: Dude, I can see you breathing... And so can those dead dudes coming out of the woods.

Russell: Gets up scared and quickly

Nate: Holy shit, how'd you fall for something like that? I mean, SERIOUSLY. How are you not in some hillbilly's freezer already? (LARRY AT THE SAINT JOHN DAIRY)
