  • Heavens doesn't necessarily need the " ' ". Bother was a typo. :p
And yeah, i forgot about that (as a lot of people seem to) - lots of people on these forums are from other countries.

Also stop bashing on people for there grammar for heavens sakes - alot of that seems to go on in the forums. A polite pointing out of there

Also how come this forum doesn't have a PM system - it's really strange(i also find it strange there isn't a "friend list" it doesn't bother me, i just find it strange, im used to having things like that on a forum even if i don't always bother using/noticing them). Heck even a visitor board would do. Also perhaps (as i think some people have already said) naming the "likers" and "dislikers" - Would stop people trolling - if it is noticed that some people are just disliking for the heck of it, ban there use of that particular feature. Although personally i don't think it would be good to remove the whole thing altogether, it's quite nice if the post doesn't really require a reply to just "like" it, maybe the dislike button could be removed but keep the like button - like facebook.

The site DOES have a PM system - it's now called Private Conversation, and you can include multiple people in it, which is useful if you're trying to let the mods know about things.

Unfortunately, the last site update accidentally broke the notification system for it, so while you can have a PC, the person(s) you're trying to have it with won't get told about it. We're hoping it'll get fixed soon.

I gotta say, that "hate" thread was an atrocity. This site needs to block users permanently by their ip's, since it's been established several times the trolls eventually come back. I know the mods are doing their best.... But there is only so much they can do, can we expect something like this to happen in the future? I know every forum will have it's trolls, there's no doubt about that. But at least we won't have to worry about the ones that were already banned.

We've asked for IP bans, but currently do not have them. :(

  • but currently do not have them.

So it's safe to assume eventually we will get them? That's good news, I guess.

    You know what websites need?

They need a type of security system that when a user is banned, it infects their computer with a kinda virus that keeps them from creating anymore accounts from that particular computer for a period of time or permanently.

I'm sure there is a capability to do that out there, somewhere.

  • And maybe if we're really lucky, they can implement that without breaking something else on the site. [cough]PMs[cough]

but currently do not have them. So it's safe to assume eventually we will get them? That's good news, I guess.

  • How would that work anyway ? I hear people talk about it but I don't really know how it works, Whenever They Ban a Troll they will never be able to come back again ?

  • edited March 2014

Every single computer ever produced is given it's own UNIQUE IP, it's kinda like a finger print for computers. For example google "what's my IP" to get yours.
    EDIT
or if you want a wiki explanation -
"An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g., computer, printer) participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IP address serves two principal functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing. Its role has been characterized as follows: "A name indicates what we seek. An address indicates where it is. A route indicates how to get there."

  • Agreed, the pm's would've helped a lot in getting the mods attention to some particular threads faster.

Those should be fixed in a while as well, hopefully.

  • As far as I know, yes(if someone else can provide a more detailed explanation, then by all means).

Still, there are ways to change your Ip on a regular basis.

Im not so sure on that, im pretty sure IP's are set in stone, and even if you can change them i think you need to really know what you are doing, and most trolls are either 12 or going through a mid life crisis in they're mothers basement. I could be wrong though... i ain't no computer expert i just know the basics.

Your IP address is provided by your ISP and it is very easy to mask your own ip address so a smart troll could change it in seconds and make a new account :(

No im pretty sure any electric device which has the ability to participate in the internet must/has to be "fitted"/assigned an IP number other wise it basically can't go on the net.

Same here, but it's also true not everyone can change their ip at will, but from what I know it's something pretty basic for someone who knows what he's doing. Then again, those people don't spend their time trolling, so I think we're in the clear.

  • Yeah, you can use a proxy to change your IP. Or you can always make an account on another computer or device and access the forum from there.

I do think it would make a difference if IP bans were a thing though, proxies can be shifty and your average troll probably wouldn't even know what one is let alone how to use it.

Ditto, plus eventually i think they would just get fed up of the effort and move on, either in life or just go and troll another forum.

I think some people would be smart enough to, but for the most part, if the things trolls post are any indication of how smart they are (~le BoOmBawX CheETos lel XDD~~~), then I don't think most would take the time to change it.

  • Just ban the Hate on azlyn threads guy Boombox cheetos and the other trolls are cooler and show up once in a month this dude just keeps making accounts to hate on that girl

  • I have an easier solution. STOP FUCKING TALKING TO THEM. They're not even trolls, they're just flaming and EVERY time they get 20 people to bark back. Just ignore them, they'll get bored. In my book, everyone that responds to them are just as bad as they are.
