I left the dog to rot.
Sculpting clem to be a tough warrior, no mercy.
Need her to be eligible for the hunger games :p

  • agreed, that's exactly my reason why I killed the dog,a finishing blow

Everyone is talking about how they "mercy" killed the dog. For me I simply wanted for Clem to kill the sorry sack of crap with her own hands. That dog deserved what it got.

  • I just left the dog, as I found the whole scenario far fetched. Having owned quite a few dogs in my time, of different breeds. I can say that a dog wouldn't behave in that fashion. If it were aggressive to begin with and wouldn't let Clementine pet it, or play with it. Then yes I can see the dog attacking. However, to turn like that. From a playful dog, to an aggressive killer, is pushing it a bit far.
Having had dogs who have been abused before, from rescue centers. That kind of behavior is unheard of. Yes, dogs can have food aggression. But that is usually just growling, or in extreme cases snapping. If you stay away, then the dog won't go any further.
Even dogs that are starving do not behave like that, and believe me I have seen some extreme cases of dogs that have been abused in the worst way. Also, you got to remember that Sam was in a family before, obviously used to children and was probably well looked after. So no, in my opinion that wasn't realistic and so didn't provoke any emotional response from me.

  • Think he just ran his thoughts together in a confusing manner, and the 'crap dog' he's talking about is the one in the game.

What? That's a weird thing to say. You wanted your family's dog dead? Yikes.

  • The people on this forum amaze me. Dogs are the most innocent creatures but they are still animals none the less. I would have liked to have the dog follow/ befriend Clem around. I feel the same way with OP I was literally torn because of the whimpering sounds he was making. Had to put him down since he was in extreme pain. The dog acted out of instinct. Not his/her fault. Its a dog.

  • I feel The same way kirbinator. i couldnt stand to see it suffer.

  • "Sometimes, it's either kill or BE killed." -Lee Everett

  • What the heck telltale, I love your games but man, could you have at least prepared us for THAT? it's one thing to kill a human or a zombie but that situation was messed up.. give us an option for crying out loud instead of forcing k-9 mutilation.

  • Meh, he attacked me, so I didn't really care about him after that. I'll admit that I'm not a dog person, so I just treated it as if I were being attacked by a walker. I put him out of his misery though.

  • Look, I love animals, ESPECIALLY dogs. Although, I didn't cry at the death of the dog, I just killed the dog (out of mercy) and disregarded it. Sam attacked Clementine, therefore, he can't be forgiven. This goes for animals and people, Sorry.

  • I felt bad and I'm man enough to say I cried I felt awful I realize it attacked clementine but doesn't mean I didn't feel awful after all it was starving and I know clem was too but she should of like put a few spoonfuls on the ground for it to eat :P

I agree but she hadn't been taught not to trust wild dogs yet. That's kind of knowledge you get from the real world, and the only knowledge she has from the real world is from whenever she was eight and younger, just before the apocalypse started.

  • Good point I suppose its hard to remember she's just a kid sometimes :(

  • Yeah, although she is very smart, she's just not any sort of Lee Everett when it comes to her survival tactics. I do also think that's a good idea, don't want to make her too OP, which would take away from the entire 'seeing kids in the eyes of a kid' sort of thing.

  • I left that son of a bitch to die slowly.

  • Scene for me was not emotional at all felt disappointed play freeby with a dog for 10 seconds offer it food and the dog attacks me everything was so forced and left dog there mainly because didn't have clue what's going on just forced feel for me lets kill a dog to get reaction from users just seems thrown in.

  • they did kinda kill it or leave it.

ttg had the balls to do it other companies play it safe (i haven't played or heard what happens to riley in ghosts)

  • Ugh, this scene was the worst. Animal deaths always get me. It reminded me of the death scene in I Am Legend.

Coincidentally, that dog was also named Sam.

That's what this game is all about..feels. That is one reason why I like this game, you have to make decisions that makes you feel sadness or happiness or whatever. The dog scene was pretty disturbing, because I didn't want the dog suffer but I didn't also want to kill it. In my opinion, It was one of the hardest scenes so far in the walking dead game.

  • agreed poor dog know I sound like a wimp but I cried. I think it was the most I ever cried at a game but I had to kill it I couldn't let it suffer.

  • Well dude you can't blame it for attacking her. It was starving...

That dog had what was coming for it although it was unsettling. There was a reason it deserved to die it is simple: it tried to hurt Clem therefore it must be eliminated

  • well said

Felt really bad for Fido when he was lying there dying. But definitely didn't want him following me around barking or trying to eat my arm off again.

  • I think it was supposed to be symbolic.
