9) Conker the Squirrel
I shouldn't have to say much here either. Conker is fucking amazing. This furry little prick makes his way through Conker's Bad Fur Day, a beautiful game, with few blemishes (Basically the war and horror sections, and that's it). All of the problems he has to solve throughout his game are solved humorously, whether it be to feed a mouse cheese until he explodes, or racing cavemen to get your cash back, it's always interesting. And Conker is the star of the show. If they had a Banjo type character, it wouldn't work nearly as well. Clementine: Probably the very video game character that I legitimately cared about. Quality of voice acting and depth of character are beyond reproach.
Alistair (Dragon Age): An extremely funny and well written our character. Amusing interactions with other characters.
Mordin Solus (Mass Effect series): On one hand, he has a dark and entertaining backstory. On the other hand, he's a bipedal frog-man who sings Gilbert & Sullivan numbers.
Handsome Jack: Probably the funniest villain in gaming. He's a mass-murder sociopath, but damned if he isn't a hilarious one to watch.
Andrew Ryan (Bioshock): Rapture's creator. A man with a dream that went oh so very wrong.

Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider reboot. She's so vulnerable yet so intelligent and so badass. The character progression is also really good.
Alyx from HL2 (episode sequels in particular). She's stylish, optimistic, shows a lot of emotion but can handle a weapon. Also Dog, as he's extremely playful, loyal and insanely powerful.
Max Payne (from the first 2 games). He is so broken, but has insane amounts of conviction and adds wonderful melodramatic narration.
Susan from The Cat Lady. Believable unorthodox protagonist, has a beautiful side under her dark sheltered exterior. Delivers sarcasm with wonderful dryness and great character progression. Also Mitzi for being dark and brooding herself yet cute and intelligent.
Lee & Clementine of course. No further explanation needed.
I second Handsome Jack. I rather liked a lot of the characters in BL2.... Tina, Moxxie, Tannis and others.

Major/Revolver/Liquid Ocelot (MGS Series): A Russian pseudo-cowboy with a taste for six-shooters and secret agendas. What's not to like?
Elizabeth (Bioshock Infinite): Has a somewhat similar dynamic to Clementine. Starts off naive and completely dependent on Booker. By the end of the game, Booker is dependent on her.
Cpt. Walker (Spec Ops: The Line): Watching Walker's slow descent into the abyss is both riveting and uncomfortable. The subtle changes in his appearance and speech over time really drives the point home. The final revelation (which I cannot spoil) definitely changes the way you will view him.
General Knoxx (Borderlands): Deadpan humor at its best. Though he's the main antagonist of his DLC, you can't help but feel bad for a general who's commanding officer is a five-year old. (goddamn nepotism).

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was one of the first grown-up, mature games I played, and from the first moment, I was hooked! The MGS-seires is without a doubt, the best games out there. The story, the characters, the gameplay is so damn perfect! So enough of that, Big Boss... I feel so attached to this character, it's hard to explain. Personally, I like Big Boss better than Solid Snake, simply because I feel more for Big Boss, because he was the first character played with, and I felt I got a special "connection" with him. His story is about to end now with MGS5, and the the journey playing with him, has been terrific. So many emotions has gotten to me while playing the MGS games, but especially MGS3, for me, the best game of them all!
