Alvin—some thoughts
Having just re-completed Episode 2 of Season 2, I played through the end again to see if I could save Walter through surrendering. As everyone else discovered, I couldn’t but I could save Alvin. So I played it through again and left Alvin on the floor in a pool of blood.
I noticed that some people had listed him as one of favourites of the new characters. I just felt he was somewhat lazy and a little sneaky and pushy when it comes to food. If you mange to coast through the apocalypse, that’s great. Just not sure I’d want you in my survival group.
Did anyone else get annoyed with Alvin’s “In the rear with the gear” attitude?
Not mean, just not helping.

There has to be a character like Alvin in every zombie story. I think he's alright imo
Leave Teddy Bear Alone!
Pst... you shouldn't use a Z-word.... ; )
We don't know the guy past his optional conversation with Clem and when he asks her to go search food for Rebecca. He could be the most interesting man in the world, but with this level of interaction, we could never tell. I want to hear the whole story about this George guy. I get the impression that Alvin's got nerve when needed, but I insist that it is impossible to tell from his current characterization and amount of interaction we've had with him so far.
I let him live, for rebeccas sake, but i know he will probably die.
Henpecked, passive and a mite underhanded, but his heart is/was (read: shall have been) in the right place.
Alvin pissed me off for all the reasons you mentioned. That guy's a huge whiny bitch with a weak will that let everyone manipulate him.
He's even a bigger liability than Nick, really, and Nick's a Grade-A fuck up...so I don't even know how to classify Alvin, he breaks the ceiling. He's truly some next level shit. Industrial sized. S-Grade. Supersaturated with heretofore unknown and unknowable concentrations of fuck-upedness.
Man you can toss off some dead weight in Ep2 with Nick and Alvin if you know what you're doing.
Why? Kirkman uses the word zombie.
Yes it annoyed me too.. He seems friendly but something just seems off. Plus I got him killed cause I thought Kenny could take the shot. It's the Walking Dead, what was I thinking?!
Although I saved Alvin in my first playthrough, i don't really get him. I mean I've yet to see that man to actually do something other than asking for food for Rebecca.
Well, he helped Clementine when she was trying to fix her arm, but that took way to much effort so talk him into it. After that he's just there never really doing anything. Maybe in ep3 he'll surprise me
When it comes to Alvin i think the only surprise will be if he actually survives episode 3.
He was one of my favorites at first but when he told Clementine to go into the house by herself and than said if he could have it, I started disliking him and only saved him because Rebecca is pretty cool now.
I agree, Alvin kind of annoys me too. I don't hate him, but he's not one of my favorites. I'm with Gunab that I feel like the only thing he did was ask for food for Rebecca. Also when you ask him to go into the little house and he's just like "Ehhhhh I'm gonna sit here with Rebecca."
I am interested in what went down with that George guy, though. I feel like Nick's comment, "If Alvin's in front of me, he takes that shot," will tie into this. Did Alvin kill him out of rage? Was he protecting Rebecca?
He got De Smile!
I liked him better in Episode One because he didn't treat Clem like shit right off the bat. I like him a bit less now. Did anyone refuse to lie for him? I I didn't have the heart to.
I thought Nick was just talking out of his ass when he said that but you may be right.
It bothers me in that it seems almost like Alvin is treating Clem like she is a child when she is if anything more mentally mature than he is.
It's blasphemy
Silly Bear.
Whats wrong with him? Hes not pushy what so ever and only asks you for food once, and it's not even for himself. Overall he is a really nice guy and is one of the only people to stick up for Clem when she first met the cabin group. He is also the only one who went out of his way to help her.
In what way was he treating Clem like a child?
I think he is a good character but ye he does get annoying like in ep 1 when you first meet them and their having a big argument you can try get help from Alvin but he doesn't say or do anything but when you try get medicine you go up to the window and ask him for help he gets you a juice box so he is good and bad
When you first meet him he offers to help, saying the group has plenty of supplies. Rebecca shuts him up though.
Telling Clem to look into the cabin while he sat down next to Beck and then asking her to lie for him about the food in the cabin when he barely knew her.
Which means he will die soon by Telltale rules!
So just because he asks her to do a favor for him one time hes overall treating her like a child? That's a pretty big generalization if you ask me. I really don't think it was a big deal.
Probably, I don't get why anyone would go out of their way to kill the guy off though.
I understand that you have your opinions, but i also have mine and in my opinion so far he has been treating her like a child.
It sounds like you went out to find Kenny. If you surrender, you'll get a scene where Carver blames Alvin for the death of someone named "George" and it really sounded like he hated Alvin for that so Carver is most likely gonna kill him either way.
Sorry, I should have worded that better. By "anyone" I meant the player, as in I don't know why any player would go out of their way to get Alvin killed off.
It's all good, I was only wondering what you were basing your opinion on. Basing it off of one little detail just seems kind of weird to me.
