Christa's baby?

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

Anyone know how the baby actually died?
I'm also curious to know what it would have been like if it survived.

It's never mentioned. I assume it was stillborn, or maybe it died after it was born. Pregnancy complications in the ZA are quite likely, due to all the stress and possible malnutrition that can affect the mother.

  • Actually i also think it was a miscarriage, but my friend says that they might've eaten the baby... O_e....Could be possible...

  • Gah, fuck! No...just no.

Probably a miscarriage/stillbirth. Newborns are very fragile.

  • I'm guessing it was a miscarriage due to stress of Omid dying or the baby died when it was born because it had something wrong with it.

  • That's nuts!

Yeah my friend is kind of a psycho xD...maybe the baby was born fine but christa couldn't produce enough milk because she barely got enough food,so the baby died of starvation....Just a thought..

It most likely was miscarriaged or a stillbirth, but that's also an option.

But Christa and Clem eating the baby is just toally insane.

  • Just to make this a littler darker; this is what this made me think of...

  • Y'know, since I realized she was pregnant in the first season when they met Christa, I was so excited to see the baby because I knew that she'd probably be in the next game and the baby would be born at some point. So when episode 1 started and she was pregnant I was like,"Omg, what if she goes into labor and that's what happens in the first episode of the first season!" Nope, instead they skip a year and it's obvious she's not pregnant, nor is there any baby :( It was probably a stillbirth or malnutrition. It's hard to have a miscarriage that far along in pregnancy, as far as I know.

  • miscarrage for sure, hopefully well know what happens in episode 3

  • It seems like Rebecca will give birth in the next episode, hopefully that will shed some light on what exactly happened to Christa's baby too

  • Yeah, miscarriages usually happen within the first few months of pregnancies. Christa looked pretty far along before the 1-year timeskip, I doubt it would be possible by that point.

If the baby was a stillbirth or it died after it was born, that means it would become a walker, right? damn.. I feel really bad for Christa.

  • Yeah, which sucks because they'd have to put the baby down and everything :( I really hope it doesn't get to that point with Judith in the Walking Dead Television Series. I know the comic isn't canon to the show anymore so poor Judith died in the comic.

  • I think a flashback may be unusually appropriate.

  • It seems likely that you'll have the choice of talking to someone/Rebecca about the experience regarding Christa and her baby. Maybe we'll even find out what Christa or Clem decided to name the baby/ the gender of Christa's baby. Maybe Rebecca will also give Clem the honor of naming the baby, who knows. She'll probably be the one helping her out along with some of the adults. I dunno, we'll have to wait and see.

  • What if...the baby died during labor and came back a walker while clem and christa were getting the cord cut off O_o....

  • I think that it was born okay, but Christa and Clem both realised that a lone woman wouldn't be able to support a baby and a child during a zombie apocalypse, so they may have left it behind or put it in a basket and sent it down a river hoping someone better equipped would find and take care of it.

If you think about it, Carver doesn't want someone who is exposed to the walkers and the wilderness to raise his child, he wants it to be raised in a safe place. So there's kind of a parallel there.

  • Yeah, which sucks because they'd have to put the baby down and everything

Jesus Christ, I didn't even think about that part. I can't decide what would be more horrific: Christa having to bash in her own newborn baby's skull or a 9/10 year old Clementine having to do it because Christa doesn't have the strength to. How the hell are either of them still carrying on after something like that?

  • God, that's terrifying, and I can imagine that's exactly what happened. Obviously the baby is gone, and I doubt Christa would give it away, so it must be dead. There is something really, really unsettling about baby walkers.

All I can say is, Clem has been through some serious shit, man. She might've even been the one to deliver the baby in the first place.

  • I think she delivered the baby....And by the look on her face she has been through so much... Just look at her face :C
its a possibility she Bashed the baby..

  • The chances of somebody finding the baby, and then actually wanting to raise it in the ZA are very slim. Also, newborns are extremely fragile. It would probably die within 1-2 days without the mother around. Also, there's the threat of walkers possibly finding it, and, well... you know how that would go. Leaving it behind would basically be leaving it to die.

You're right though, realistically I doubt Christa and Clem alone would be able to take care of it. Babies are extreme liabilities and need constant care. If they were on the move, there'd be no way it would get it's needs met.

  • Did he post that on Youtube? I saw someone post that exact same thing on Youtube. What gets into people's heads? "Christa, Im awful hungry." "Well, lets eat the baby I just miscarried." Jeez!

  • Theres no way Christa would just give up and leave her baby to be eaten.. It would have to already be dead or a walker before she would leave it. Putting a kid like Duck down was sad, but I could never kill a baby.. even in a video game. Leaving the poor thing would be the only option for me.. and it would haunt me forever. I definitely need to know what happened to Christa's, and I'm interested to see how Carver reacts to a dead baby.
