Sorry, Matthew almost certainly died from blood loss or drowning. He got hit hard in the neck, he was gushing blood. If he actually somehow managed to swim to shore or was lucky enough to drift to shore, he probably would have died in a few hours from blood loss. Come on, he couldn't even speak because he was bleeding in his throat.
Now now, there's no need to be so disrespectful of the theories of others. No matter how silly a theory might seem to you, there is no reason to bash the creator of the theory. I suck at theories I know, but that doesn't mean I'm troll. It takes like 20 minutes to think about what to write for my post. i use evidence and clues from the story. I'm sorry if you think I'm a troll, this is Tell Tales anyway, so who knows Mathew might be alive. it depends on who's writing the story next. They like to play with people's emotions. Only reason I think he's alive is because the lights by the bridge. Carver obviously was looking for clues to find the cabin group. I guess I'm a bad person for my guesses and thoughts. It's okay, it's not a bad thing to make mistakes. It's good that you're looking into the series and trying to find deeper meanings in things--that's fun and it means you're actively participating as a fan!
It's easy to get caught up in tiny details, but when you're developing a theory, you have to remember the important facts and let your theory fall in to place, not twist the facts to suit your theory. In this case, Matthew bled to death, and we saw him bleed to death. He is very clearly dead. It wouldn't have worked. On the other hand, a character like Luke is open to lots of theories, and other characters who we did not see die--like Christa, Lilly, and the characters from 400 Days--could all be involved in said theory with him. You have to make sure to step back and see things for the bigger picture.
