If TWDG was a FPS

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

This is just a random discussion but how would you feel if TWDG was a first person shooter?

It would still have the entire story line although just more zombie killing.

  • Hmmmm... It would be SHIT!

  • Probably so.

  • TWD isn't about zombies, but I sure as hell would love a Game in which you will have to get along with others to survive. Kinda like DayZ, but that thing is still in alpha...

  • Is there a difficulty slider? Because I'm pretty goddamn awful at shooters.

In all seriousness, it wouldn't make sense. Activision tried it with Survival Instinct and it failed horribly. One of the things that makes TWD interesting is that Walker encounters are uncommon enough that they still feel daunting. When the player can go around capping zombies willy-nilly, it trivializes the threat they pose and makes killing a chore rather than an uncomfortable necessity.

  • So boring and repetetive.

I'm biggest Fps fan probably completed most of them and if going for FPS recommend looking at TLOU to get the formula right. But personally wouldn't like when good at something like this point and click decisions not broken don't fix it to much of a risk a game like this is very rare in all Cod copies of there. say 80% of games are fps so why more rare game like this for me nice break just to fully immersion into a game and story without facing hordes of zombies to reach next area sort of thing. But if they do I'll still buy

  • I'm glad it's not a first person shooter...

  • A stealth game that requires you to outwit and outmaneuver a bunch of shambling corpses. How riveting!

"It isn't hard to outsmart the dead...bunch of dumbasses."

That gives me an idea though...what about a hack'n'slash game starring Molly and Hilda? It would be terrible, but almost worth it.

  • More like Hilda and Molly, Hilda needs to be the starring role through the game ;)

  • I probably wouldn't be playing it...

  • Good idea! What if Hilda is possessed by the ghost of Molly's sister and cries out for the blood of all zombies/asshole survivors?

  • No denying that FPS games (and shooters in general) can have powerful stories. Though it's a third-person shooter, Spec-Ops: The Line had one of most engaging/horrifying stories I've ever experienced. Still, I'm not sure TWD could work as an FPS.

Agree played many an awful shooter not something you can just start very hard get the balance right to stop it getting boring and repetitive while keeping good story. I also like the current formula by TWD there so many gun games nice have something different to play on the game market. With small staff, competition who perfected the fps and the fanbase just used to point and click games just be bad idea

  • TWDG had some moments of being a FPS for a while...but no, if it was then it would be too cliche and too mainstream.

  • Molly is actually Kratos, but she was made mortal after the end of GoW3 and sent into modern times. The Blades of Chaos became Hilda and the lost climbing pick. So now all we need is Molly fighting giant monsters.

  • Well in all fairness I stole Telltale's character...I wonder how good their lawyer is.

  • I don't know. I can't really imagine it. It's like asking me what if Half-Life was a JRPG?

    I would totally play a Half-Life JRPG.

  • Well if it was a first person shooter with multi-player then it's going to have killstreaks...

    Shotgun Killstreak

    Infinite Pocket Space Killstreak

    Lee Killstreak

I'm glad that it isn't a first person shooter,if it was then it would have been Walking Dead Survival Instincts sequel /:

  • If they were trying to make a Telltale's TWD game, I would like Irrational Games to make it. RIP Irrational.

  • um no, just the fpsing in that scene was fucking terrible.

  • Fps aren't bad, people who usually say they are haven't even played some. They are alot of good zombie games that are FPS like Left 4 dead 1&2 and COD:ZOMBIES. The call of duty zombies has an excellent ominous story that I love (mind you that zombies are totally different from campaign and made from a totally different team.) But twd should stay twd, by telltale of course. We've seen fps twd and it was ugly.

  • Well said.

  • I would probably give up because I suck at those

  • If it were made properly, it would be fun. I love shooters; Halo and Bioshock are among my favorite games of all time.

That said, I'm very thankful that it wasn't. The third person format suits this game much better.

  • Depends, would it be more like cod, bioshock or the darkness?

  • COD.

  • True, it's a different experience though. L4D and Nazi/Soviet/Moon? Zombies are both lighthearted, arcade-y, actions games that are perfectly fun in their own right. TWD and The Last of Us on the other hand, are relatively serious and story driven. Also, they unfortunately don't give you an unlimited supply of painkillers or an M1911 that fires rifle grenades.

  • I honestly liked the F.P.S. moments in Crawford. They remind me of the very first chapter when Lee killed the reanimated cop with his M-870. ( Not before dropping the shell though ) My only gripe with those scenes is the sensitivity. It may just be that TellTale wanted us bit more on edge so the sequences wouldn't feel out of step with the suspense of the story.

  • They need to actually make a telltale racing game and you can play as any of the telltale characters XD It would take away the fun from the original game itself (possibly) but it'd be hilarious, depending on how they would do it, if they were to.
