Duck 2.0

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

I personally think Sarah is a Duck 2.0. Hoping i'm not the only one who does...

Also, I didn't really like Duck in episode 1-2 but in episode 3 he was awesome, being a duck-tective and all ;) Seriously though, Sarah is how Duck was in episodes 1-2... Annoying.

Which is sad, because she and Carlos had a potentially great dynamic waiting to happen with Clementine... but as of now she comes off as annoying and her dad as a moody genius.

  • I suppose they'll give people a reason to like her in episodes three or four then kill her off whenever she starts becoming a better, less annoying person... like what they did with Duck.

  • At least it's not a girl who is competitive and jealous against Clem. That would be so annoying.

  • Thank god they don't have a character like that. Don't get any ideas telltale...

  • I think she is intended to be a bit creepy and annoying to clem who has struggled so much in the world.

  • Holy shit... I just realized that she will probably be at the camp too... I fucking hate Becca.

  • Becca isn't too bad, but she is a bit of a bitch.

  • True. I just can't get over that time in 400 days when she thought it was a good idea to downright murder Stephanie. I honestly think Clem and her won't get along well.

  • I was listening to a podcast and they mentioned the same thing. I think Duck was mentally slow; I believe Sarah has just been too sheltered. Thinking about it, she probably hit puberty around the time the apocalypse started. No access to children anymore with a highly overprotective father stunted her growth as a woman and a person in general. Remember she knew that Carver should not see her.

I don't. The only commonality I see them sharing is ignorance. Perhaps annoyance to some, though I don't find Sarah annoying really.

I don't either. Remember, when Carlos was being tortured? She could have said where Rebecca was, she didn't. I don't know about you, but that counts as something in my book.

Also, I didn't find Duck annoying at all(Am I the only one?) and you can pretty much guess I didn't find Sarah annoying either. Though I agree that pinky swear made me scratch my head.

I agree. People see a kid trying to be a kid in twd and they dislike them for it. I find it refreshing and even... daring and courageous.

  • Indeed. The scene in ep 2 of S1 back when Duck and Clem each took turns on the swing comes to mind. I remember I thought pretty much the same thing when I first played that scene. Although, it also made me sad knowing the world will never get back to how it was before.

  • I noticed a 'Walking Dead' trend of similar names for quite some time now

    Duck - Doug

    Shawn - Shane

    Boyd - Clyde

    Rebecca - Becca

Especially Duck and Doug annoyed me in Season 1

I'm fonder of Sarah than I was with Duck starting out. It helps being able to see her play off another kid.

I never hated Duck, but we didn't really converse much with him until episode 3, in which he was either energetic, or dead quiet. With Sarah, we get a bit more depth on how she's dealt with things; she's sheltered, yet well meaning, and visibly emotional during the darker moments.

  • well she didn't say so because, she didn't know where she was at.

Remember when sarah ran for carlos when carver punches him? YA...

  • I already like Sarah alot better than Duck.....

  • True, but it's not like she didn't know Rebecca had nowhere else to go but upstairs. Walter is shown in one of the cutscenes looking over by the stairs, I'm pretty sure she could have at least guessed in order from keeping Carver from hurting Carlos anymore.

  • I feel like she's immature (Due to Carlos sheltering her), which makes her a tad bit annoying. I still am nice to her as Clementine as I was with Duck being Lee. I just think that Carlos needs to man up and teach her how to protect herself.

  • I don't mind someone acting like a kid, I like that but Sarah is 15, even 15 year olds in the real world would know not to act like she does but who knows, maybe Carlos was even sheltering her before the apocalypse.

  • I actually don't mind sarah she maybe naïve but I don't hate her after all she backed up my Clem.

  • Awww i disagree. I really like Sarah and i feel like i should protect her as well as Clementine!

  • I actually don't mind becca and I don't think she wanted to kill Stephanie. I think she was just trying to play it tough and dismiss it. only thing I hate about her was her sneaking out without supervision that was just plain dumb of her

  • I helped Duck out because he was a kid and his father had a godlike stache but I found him very annoying in episodes one and two. Although I did cry whenever he died, not only because he was dying but also because I knew Clementine and him were friends and she would have to witness another friend dying. Seriously though, Sarah is so sheltered ._.

  • I see her no more immature than the regular 14 year old (or 15?). I spot ignorance as her main drawback again. While I can see how some may view her as annoying I've been around kids a long time, and she seems fine beyond being sheltered. This is all personal perspective though.

  • I think Sarah can be annoying but I don't blame her for being annoying, I blame her dad for not showing her how bad the world really is. Although, I did take blame for the photo (I took it anyway) and I was happy that Sarah was nice enough to not throw Clem under the bus so easily.

Wait what? Trying to run to her father's aid was a misguided thing to do? I'm confused.

  • True, I don't really hate her but that doesn't mean she doesn't annoy me. I would still save her though if that were an option in any future episodes.

  • I mean, i've never had kids and I don't really hang around them a lot but I have known and met some pretty intelligent and mature 14-15 year olds.

  • "Act like she does."

What do you mean? Trying to make friends? Trying to connect with people? Trying to get a little enjoyment out of a life full of shit? I just fail to see how her acts connect to an overlying problem, again, besides a thick layer of ignorance.

  • Her ignorance is what annoys me. I just wish there were more options to teach Sarah what the world is like in the game but the closest there was to that was the gun thing at the cabin in which she thought it was a good idea to point the gun at Clementine. I know she didn't mean to but I completely blame Carlos for all of these things. She needs to grow up. She's just very naive. She's a good few years older than Clementine and all she can think about is making friends, when Clementine would never be naive enough to focus on that whenever there is a wounded person in the room, who is asking for help. I don't hate her I just wish she could be less ignorant.

  • So have I. All of my friends at that age were the brainy folk. They do exist, but even the intelligent ones are more often than not ignorant. It's what leaves room for expansion, learning, maturing. It's why they are not yet considered adults. That's why I don't find her annoying, just ignorant.

  • I identify annoying and ignorance as completely different things. To me, annoying acts don't make a person/character annoying. Everyone does something that rubs you the wrong way at least once, but I don't consider the majority of the offenders as annoying. If that were the case then everyone would be annoying, and the word would lose its meaning and no one would be annoying (if all is sacred, nothing is sacred). There have been a few cases where her ignorance had rubbed me the wrong way, but overall I still classify her as ignorant, not annoying. That's just me though, as I've said I can see how some would view her as annoying.

  • I don't get why people hate Sarah so much? Sure she has a whole bunch of flaws but I don't think she can help it. Her father was simply too sheltering but she is making up for it now with the gun practice. I also loved the astounding emotions she showed when her father was being tortured by Carver in the most horrible way.

  • I don't hate Sarah but I just can't stand how she is so sheltered. There better be a point in episode three where Clem teachers her more about defending herself. She has a right to know.
