Why the title: "Amid the Ruins"

edited April 2014 in The Walking Dead

I think the episode was called "Amid the Ruins" because in this episode we will see and deal with the consequences of the storm and the walkers that we see in the mini-trailer for episode 3, what do you think?

  • I really dont think we can even guess until after ep 3.

  • For all we know the ruins might be a reference to something psychological.

  • i think we'll see the camp, where was carver with his own part of group

  • ya

  • ya because she doesn't have her hat, and she is putting blood on her face sooo...

  • Personally I think the title serves multiple references. 1 being the ruins of Carver's camp, the aftermath of whatever devastating tribulation(s) Clem and the others need to do to escape what remains of the ill begotten fort. 2 being the ruins of Clementine's own mind. What's left of her sanity after whatever terrible acts come with the escape.

  • Clementine witnesses eveything break/fall down around her, Carver's men having a war with the cabin group. slowly and little by little, people start losing their lives and Clementine starts to break down, losing her hope for humanity and being able to survive the zombie apocalypse. Clementine thens starts to walk alone, and she begins to become a person who is cold-hearted, as she doesn't want to be attached to someone because she fears of being hurt, she wants to be on her own, after many years, Clementine finds a girl who is just 8 years old, after a few moments together, Clementine remembers Lee, Luke, Kenny, and everyone else, she realizes that there is still hope for humanity. She goes up to the girl and tells her " We should learn from each other and empathize using our heads" Clementine smiles ans stares into the sunset.

Whoa there, i typed to much. I got carried away with the moment. I guess that's what happens when you drink too much soft drinks.. haha.

  • I don't want her to end up with a psychological problem. :S

  • I guess it's revisiting of the past events in season 1, "ruins" is another word for old things. lol

  • If KIISAKII's prediction comes true, I think I might really lose it.

  • amid the ruins means surrounded by ruins

  • I feel like most people will die in that episode

  • I don't think i've read that thread.

If KIISAKII's prediction comes true, I think I might really lose it.

  • Probably people will die, but I think the ruins are more of a metaphor. Like Titus returning from war with the bodies to bury and he surviving army saying "Behold the poor remains, alive and dead."

  • Balls To that, I like Clem just the way she is, mentally stable :)

    Ta Da!

  • I don't want her to become another Carl, but if she does at the end of the season, I hope in Season 3 she can revert to her old self.

  • fo shiz nizzle I thinky because the whole nizzle palace of slavery will go into ruins due to tensions and chain chompers and amid the ruins comes the strongest like our lil boo boo who fight back with a team of freedom fighters FO REAL and ends beef wellington carver's rein of terror and voice that spits stone fo real

  • I agree with you there my good man, i still kind of miss the innocent Clem from s1.

  • I think Carver's camp is going to be destroyed, but he is still alive, and chasing Clementine who has disappeared with the 400 Days characters, that's my guess, I can't wait for Episode 3!

  • Agreed with everyone saying it's probably a reference to her fragile mental state. I think the lack of her hat in the image is symbolic of that - with it, there goes the last real memento of her old innocent self.

Zounds. Damn single digit Mbps internet connection.

  • It's called amid the ruins because everyone dies.

    d:

  • Yes that makes sense, if it's ruins made of corpses or something.

  • That's my thinking. The end of ep3 or beginning of 4 will be a huge climactic fight. The rest of the episode may deal with the fallout. Perhaps the rest of the group will rally and retreat to the woods?

Agh. I await episode. 4 with a mix of excitement and apprehension for that reason precisely. I shudder to imagine what might happen.

  • I mean there usually aren't living people in ruins.

A Telltale staff member nicknamed this episode "Sunshine and Rainbows". If the moniker's meant to be ironic (who the hell am I kidding - of COURSE it's meant to be ironic), we're in for a no-holds-barred bloodbath that will make the end of THE WILD BUNCH look like a Rice Krispies commercial.

  • I wanted to reply to someone to say,I was playing portal 2 the other day ,and in the beginning the announcer said something that we are in mid of an apocalypse and he said something being AMID THE RUINS OF the civilization so I thought quickly of the 4th episode. You can take it from here.

I don't think people want a happy ending as much as they say they do, the ending of S1 was as powerful as it was because it wasn't a happy ending. I am personally hoping for an ending that isn't mind numbingly depressing, one with a little hope, a happy ending in TWD would be a little jarring. An ending that is as well executed as the S1 ending but maybe not as depressing would suit me fine :)
