'Does he seem different to you?'

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

When Sarita says this about Kenny, what does she mean?

She didn't know Kenny before, so how would she know if he was acting 'differently'?

Well, his whole happiness act does seem a little bit forced. Like a wall he's building up around himself.

Sarita probably picked up on that, and now has the opportunity to ask someone who knew him before she did about it.

  • Kenny does seem different but I'm not sure how yet and I think sarita was just wondering about kenny

    Fair enough.

But the happiness may only seem forced to us because we know what he was like before?

  • I would assume she was concerned about him in some way.

Maybe she saw a good opportunity to ask Clem since she knew him when the apocalypse started. And we also saw Kenny raising his voice a bit when he offered to give her a hand, maybe he had some more outbursts before?

  • But why would she have reason to think he hadn't acted that way before?

She doesn't, that's why she was asking Clem. His behavior did seem somewhat strange and Sarita probably wanted to know if he'd always been like that.

  • Thing is, it may have only seemed strange to us for Kenny because we knew him before.

Like, with most new people I meet through friends, if they are a little weird I don't ask my friends 'Does she seem...different to you?'

I'm not sure, to me it still sounds like an odd question.

  • I got the impression that hes been pretty angry/depressed recently, and seeing him so happy with Clementine is probably jarring.

  • I like that interpretation.

  • Different to clem, because maybe she wanted to know if he changed since the last time clem saw him.

  • He called Bens shitbird so yeah. Same ol' Kenny.

2 years had gone by since all started.

All the people who made it that far show certain changes in their behavior, they most certainly aren't the person they used to be. Kenny already showed these signs if you can call them that from the moment he met her I would assume. She most likely figured something happened with him during that period of time, and she thought it was a good opportunity to find out more about him. Even Walter asks you about him and his time with the old group.

Not sure in what aspect, but he seems different to me.
Perhaps his way of seeing things, he continues to have a personality as he had before, but he says some things that doesn't match with the old Kenny, he seems a person who wants to forget the past, and maybe that's the reason of him being different.

  • I assume she was worried about him. Even if Sarita didn't know Kenny before, his behavior was noticeably moody. Besides, she admitted he didn't tell her much about his past so she probably was looking for an opportunity to find out more about him.
