Lee is the entire reason Clementine is alive and a big part of why she's so capable of surviving. He protected her on numerous occasions, helped her grow up, taught her self defense and survival tactics, he did it all. He even gave his own life to make sure Clementine stayed safe, something Rick has not had the opportunity to do, at least not yet(to my knowledge). So, I think Lee has actually done a lot more for Clementine than Rick has done for Carl.
I will say Rick has done more for Carl, than Lee did for Clementine.
But that's only because Lee lived for 1 season!
If Lee had survived, and thus was still the playable character in season 2, as Lee I'd do whatever was necessary to protect Clementine. Just like I
did in season 1.
I definitely wouldn't say no one liked Merle. I was under the impression I was in the minority on disliking him. :P Everywhere I look, I see, "bring Merle back", "he was so badass", "Daryl was better with him around", "he was better than all the characters", "Michael Rooker was awesome". Only one I agree with is that last one, by the way. Rooker was indeed awesome in the role, and though I'm still not a fan of Merle, I did gain respect for Merle for how he chose to go out, doing something for someone else.
Unless by "no one", you were talking about the characters not liking him.
I can accept your opinion, but I have to say that I disagree, Characters who are able to show more sides to them than just one are actually … morethe most interesting ones. When characters start as good ones, but eventually develop a darker side due to certain events? That's what makes characters interesting. Or when a bad guy slowly starts to doubt his ways and starts being more...good. And I don't mean "suddenly he becomes superman and a real hero" but more like "he slowly starts to become good in his own way." Like Merle. Remember him? NO ONE liked him, but I loved his character. He was by no means a good man even right before his death, but heck, he realized the problem and tried to do his best right until he met his end. He went out like a boss. These are characters I find to be interesting. They seem human. If Rick had remained the same man he used to be from the beginning, I would have hated him, because he would have turned out to be inhuma… [view original content]
What do you mean overhyping and worshipping? Maybe on Tumblr but i havent seen that on here. If you come on a TWD forum expect people to obviously like Lee more.
Ya Andrew Lincoln is an amazing actor and the perfect Rick. The only thing that is missing is his thirst to be the leader of the group after… more he kills off Shane, it was a drastic change from the comic. Which was pretty weird that the TV show moved toward a "group vote"/democracy mentality. Maybe the writers moved away from the "RIck-tatorship" since it was too un-american for TV
TV show Rick, was badass during the first 2 Seasons and during the most part of Season3. (exept the unnessesary " Rick goes crazy " part). B… moreut in Season4, Rick is developing into a alot less badass character.
Comic book Rick is defintelly a badass, but he still isn't as badass as Lee is! If you aren't convinced about that yet, here is something to proof my point!

That was the best part of the comic imo. AMC's low budget has me worried though I wonder how they will remaster that gigantic herd. I bet it… more will be a let down.
Unless they do this but with full immersion having Alexandria in the middle of all those walkers seen from afar:
Wtf are you talking about I like lee more than rick I was referring to how guilty was referencing how people (whether you see it or not) there is such a thing as overdoing it

lol "on tumblr". Come on, man. it is obvious people are overhyping characters in here. You don't even have to strictly look at Clem or Lee. Just look at Kenny. Sure, he gets hate, too, but that guy has practically formed a cult, lol. I like Kenny, and I occasionally give in and drop a few mustache jokes as well, but you can't just come in here and say there is no overhyping going on. That, combined with the bashing of everything show or comic related is just very hard to swallow sometimes. I often end up sighing, rolling my eyes or even groaning at some comments. It's fanboy/girlism to the max and that stuff really gets...tiring...to read sometimes.
What do you mean overhyping and worshipping? Maybe on Tumblr but i havent seen that on here. If you come on a TWD forum expect people to obviously like Lee more.
I was talking about the characters, but was also under the impression that the fans didn't give a damn about him either. I felt like the only one around who actually cared about his death when everyone else was just crying because Daryl was sad. "OMG my poor, sweet Daryl! Don't cry!"
Yeah...stuff like this gives me a vague idea why some people really dislike Daryl sometimes.
I definitely wouldn't say no one liked Merle. I was under the impression I was in the minority on disliking him. :P Everywhere I look, I see… more, "bring Merle back", "he was so badass", "Daryl was better with him around", "he was better than all the characters", "Michael Rooker was awesome". I like Rick, but for some reason I don't feel like I know the guy as much as I did Lee, you know what I'm saying? Like when Lee died, everyone I knew who played that game cried, including myself. But if Rick were to die, it wouldn't feel as bad, because the gamers grow so attached to a character that resembles them and their actions that when that character is taken away it's much worse then a character people were never attached to in the first place. Rick and Lee are pretty epic, both characters have done amazing things.
That and he only kills 10 out of the large herd. I would say though that Lee's taking on the herd alone is just about as equal to Rick, Michonne and Abraham Routing and killing off the entire herd in Alexandria.
Down vote me if you must I am a fan of all of The walking dead media and favor the game > Comic > TV show but still see Lee and comic book Rick at the same level.
Personally as far as badassery goes in the overall series I would not pick Rick or Lee. Id pick Michonne. She has the highest seen walker kill count in the walking dead universe. From all those walkers killed just imagine how many indirect lives she has saved without even knowing.
To be fair, Lee was turning half zombie if you know what i mean, and he was less noticed defintely just like Rick and Glenn in the first season of the show
Even so, he doesn't have to do badass stuff 24/7 to be a badass. Daryl doesn't do that. Not even Lee did that. If a character does 2 or more badass things, he shows that he is capable of being badass. And until he does something really cowardly or pussy-like, he will count as a badass in my book. And no, his "I see Lori's ghost" phase isn't a cowardly thing for me. It's something that can happen to you when you are stressed and someone you loved died. (though I still don't understand how he could have loved her)
NO ONE is at Lee's level... He is THE number one Urban.. IF Rick can push through hundreds of hordes of walkers while chopping them up with one arm then he has my respect.
Carl came out mentally scarred, shooting unarmed people and with half of his face blown of with Rick, He was too occupied with other things to see that his son was losing his way.
Clementine survived and came out physically fine while not not losing touch of her personality with Lee.
I will say Rick has done more for Carl, than Lee did for Clementine.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the entire 1st season.
The music was perfectly fit for the scene, as it conveys the struggle that the character is experiencing, not just fighting walkers, but also combating his own physical exhaustion, in a final desperate attempt to save the little girl he loves.

True, Lee made the ultimate sacrifice to save Clementine.
But it's not exactly fair to state Rick, ( from the tv show), has done less for Carl.
As his son, Rick does indeed love Carl, and has shown himself to willing to do whatever is necessary to protect him.
For example, When Carl was going to be raped by one of the members of a gang that Daryl had fell in with,( since losing track of Beth), and who now were in the process of beating both Daryl and Rick to death, Rick took a bite out of the leader's neck, and then proceeded over to the man who was attempting to rape Carl, who was now frozen in horror after witnessing what Rick had done, and mutilated him with a hunting knife, while Daryl killed the other 2 men.
Thanks to Rick's actions, Carl was saved before that asshole had his way with him!
By doing whatever he needed to do to protect his son, Rick showed himself to be a loving and devoted father.
Just like Lee was toward Clementine!
Now I know some will call Rick an absent dad.
But they should remember is that during that time, Rick had just lost his wife, the greatest loss a man can endure.
Before Rick could help Carl process his loss, he needed to process his own first.
If a man cannot help himself, he can't be expected to help others.
But as we saw, after Rick got his head back together, he devoted himself to helping Carl through this difficult time, and to helping Carl regain some of the humanity that he lost.
Though to give credit where credits due, Daryl stepped up and willing offered to fight the gang alone so that Rick, Carl and Michonne would be spared.
That takes bravery, and a spirit of self-sacrifice!
After Rick took the bite out of the leader's neck, Daryl killed the 2 men who had previously been in the process of beating him to death.
Daryl was there for Carl, after his mom died, when Rick wasnt.
Daryl consoled the boy, and told him the story of how his own mom died.
And when Judith had just been born and was in desperate need of nourishment, Daryl was the first to go out on a supply run, but not before asking Beth to watch out for Carl while he was gone.
In some respects, I think it's safe to say that Daryl cares for Carl almost as much as Rick does.

I think you went a little bit off topic there but you make good points. Though consider that Clementine isn't even Lee's daughter and Lee also led his group from the sidelines, without anyone realizing how much he was contributing, and arguably still did a better job than Rick did. Lee never broke down, even when he realized he was dying and had a whole day to think about his imminent death. But, granted, Rick hasn't ever gotten a chance to accomplish some of the feats Lee has, so it's kind of an unfair comparison I guess. d:

That's an unfair comparison due to different scenarios/situations.
Most of the things that Rick is preoccupied with are major issues that effect the group's survival. Rick also knows that if he does not look out for everyone they will not lookout for him or Carl.
Everything that happened to Carl or anyone close to Rick was not Rick's fault. Rick cant reverse time and stop the old leader of Alexandria from from going suicidal shooting everywhere at walkers which got half of Carl's face blown off.
Also there's the matter of time. Clem is physically fine just as Carl was in the time period of season 1 of the game within the walking dead universe and so far the only person Carl had killed in that time period would be Shane who would of killed Rick.
Carl came out mentally scarred, shooting unarmed people and with half of his face blown of with Rick, He was too occupied with other things … moreto see that his son was losing his way.

You know I must say, that it's a damn shame that it wasn't an option in the game to become the official leader of the group.
If you ask my opinion, Lee did more for the group, then Kenny ever did,( those that's not to say Kenny wasn't useful, nor that he didn't contribute to the group in a huge way, what with his expertise on boats, mechanics and alike).
As Lee, I would've loved to have led the group.
It would've have been interesting.
Not that I would want to be a dictator, but it would've been nice to have had a greater barring influence on the group.

In my opinion, Lee led the group, just he wasn't recognized for it. At all. Everyone knew he was a very capable person and EVERYONE respected him....other than a certain someone who had charm coming out of his ass. But no one recognized him as the leader. He was the one who always ended up deciding what the group would do, he decided who was right in the power struggle between Lilly and Kenny, when they couldn't decide for their selves. He saved group members all the time. So, despite him not officially being the leader, I think he was more of a leader than any of the others were. d:

I am getting sick of every mention of the comics and the show in this forum. Not because I hate them, but because I hate the hate they recei… moreve. Everyone treats the game as so much superior that it downright annoys me to read their comments. As someone who likes all TWD medias, I just can't stand how much people differentiate them when they, in fact, aren't that much different from one another.
People in this forum would even rate a dump taken by Lee higher than Rick these days. It makes me feel like Lee is overrated even though I loved his character.
NO ONE is at Lee's level... He is THE number one Urban.. IF Rick can push through hundreds of hordes of walkers while chopping them up with one arm then he has my respect.

I have such emotional ties to Lee. You can't ask questions like that!
There's a difference between loving characters and them downright overhyping and worshiping them
Please let people do what they want thanks

Nope They voted in the comic also, when Rick seemed too unstable mentally
Um S4 Rick is S3 Rick again now but even more than before, Ep16 proves that
