Walking Dead cast? Who would you pick?

edited April 2014 in The Walking Dead

Say they were gonna make a movie, based on the game.
Who do you think would be perfect for the roles?

Here are mine....

Denzel Washington, or Will Smith, as Lee.
Viggo Mortensen, as Kenny.
Helen Hunt, as Katja.
Dakota Goyo, as Duck.
Sam Elliot, as Herschel.
Tony Shaloube, as Omid.
Halley Berrey, as Christa.
Jennifer Aniston, or Jennifer Garner, as Carly.
Angelina Jolie, as Lilly.
Sam Shepard, as Larry, ( he may not be big like Larry, but he can definitely pull off the attitude).
Shia LaBeouf, as Ben.
Mathew Broderick, as Mark.
Keith Caridine, as Chuck.
Willem Dafoe, as the Stranger. ( Who does crazy better than him)?
Nicolas Cage, as Nate.
Alan Alda, as Vernon.
Ed Harris, as Carver.
William Hurt, or Tommy Lee Jones, as Pete.
Chris Evans, or Chris Pine, as Luke.
Lindsay Lohan, as Bonnie, ( I'll admit, that's a cheap shot). Kathy Bates, as Brenda St John.

As for a director, I would pick either James Cameron, Ron Howard, or Steven Spielberg.

How about you?
List the ones you'd think would be best suited.
And tell me what you think of the list I've assembled.

  • As someone else said: Tommy Wiseau plays everyone.

  • All in all really good choices, but Will Smith and Jennifer Aniston? Nah. Not that I don't like them, but they don't fit Lee and Carley.

Carly has a very sweet persona, hence I chose Jennifer Aniston.
Lee was a good fighter, and after seeing Will Smith in I AM LEGEND, I couldn't think of anyone better.
Plus, Will Smith kinda looks like Lee,( at least to me, anyway).

  • Perfect to play Lee at St. John's Farm... Walks in the secret room "Oh hi Mark!"

  • Not going to lie, I pretty much disagree with every one of those.

Except Willem Dafoe as the Stranger and Nicolas Cage as Nate, those are good choices. Dafoe knows how to play a creeper and Cage knows how to play a psychopath.

I haven't really considered it, but Angela Bassett might not be bad for Christa.

The two characters that I couldn't think of for were Larry and Clementine.
I couldn't think of a big guy, who resembled Larry, and who is an accomplished actor.
Same goes for Clementine, couldn't think of a good child actress to play her.

I recently thought of a guy who could play Larry.
As well as some alternative choices for some other cast members.

  • For Clementine I was about to say Zelda Harris, the girl from Crooklyn, except apparently 1994 was 20 years ago... So not a kid so much anymore...

  • If there would be a movie or spinoff tv series, Clementine will be older than in the game. Just compare the age of Carl Grimes in comics and tv series.

  • Nicholas Cage for Nate? I am imagining that right now.....giggle hahhehehehhuehuehue

  • I don't know why this has so many dislikes. It's an interesting thread

  • Will Smith for Lee, Willem Dafoe as the Stranger. But I honestly could never see them making it into a show/movie, because of how interactive the story is.

Willem Dafoe as the Stranger for sure.

  • Never thought of Viggo as Kenny. BeardKenny does kind of remind me of The Man in The Road.

  • I know EXACTLY what you mean pal!
    Like what the hell?!

  • Exactly!
Before I went ahead with that idea, I googled Viggo Mortensen with a mustache, just to see how much he would look like Kenny, that way I'd know if the idea was solid or not, and the resemblance is truly remarkable. Check it out!

  • Granted they probably wouldn't.
This is just kind of a "what if" scenario.

    I liked Boondock Saints.
Saw the sequel, not quite as good as the original.
Hope they make a 3rd, since they kinda gave the impression that they would at the end of the 2nd.

The whole idea of a 3rd movie, in the words of Willem Dafoe's Paul Smecker: "Kinda makes me fell like river dancing."
    Lol!

  • I said it before and i will say it again...

    M. Night Shyamalan as Director/Producer and writer of this movie. Nothing could possible go wrong!

And another reason I would think Will Smith, as opposed to Denzel Washington for example, is because Washington is a big guy.
So to possibly have Denzel and Viggo in a fight scene, like on the train, would look very one sided, based on size alone.
Viggo only about average height and whom I'd guess to be around 165-175 Lbs. Where as Denzel is over 6'ft tall, and judging from when I saw him in The Book Of Eli, looks to be over 200 lbs.

Will Smith on the other hand, looks like he's more around average height, plus he looks like he's closer to Viggo's weight as well.
So if they got into it on screen, Viggo looks like he's got a fighting chance.

  • Jennifer Aniston is WAY too old to be playing Carley.

  • This is tough, but here's who I'd pick:

    Lee : Keith David

    Kenny : Steven Ogg

    Lilly : Famke Janssen

    Carley : Mila Kunis

    Katjaa : Marcia Gay Harden

    Ben : Dane DeHaan

    Doug : Johnny Galecki

    Larry : Clancy Brown

    Christa : Lupita Nyong'o

That's all I got so far..........

Like I said when playing season 1, Ty Burrell looks, at least to me, exactly like Kenny.

    Look at him!
    He IS Kenny-

Sorry, I just don't see it.
I still think Viggo looks more like Kenny.
Not to mention, Viggo's a very accomplished actor.

And if not Viggo Mortensen, than perhaps Dennis Quaid.
    Or Josh Brolan.

    What did I tell ya?!
As a side thought, how long do think it took Viggo to get his beard to that length?
I heard on the director's commentary, that Viggo actually grew a beard for that role.
