Christa's baby might just be the saving grace for keeping her from being killed off. Pregnant characters have high potentials to survive in stories, or at the least, have their babies survive. It makes for good symbols of hope in apocalypse stories.

Edit: Ah, right... forgot that she lost her baby. My bad.

  • Carver is taking care of him maybe lol

  • Given the hungry, miserable state Clementine and Christa were in after the 16 month jump, I think it's safe to say the baby didn't make it. If not miscarriage, it probably died of starvation.

As was suggested a lot in some other threads, perhaps Clem will go into it more after Rebecca's baby.

  • Nate found him and raised him !

  • It probably died. It would be sad if a walker got to it,

Of course the baby is dead. What else do you want to know? Why do people keep asking this question over and over? Take your pick as to how the baby died. It doesn't really matter.

  • Oh come on...it matters...it would affect so many things about Christ's character

  • Does anyone know when season 2 will be out? I was told by Amazon it's in pre order status ..anywhere it can be watched yet?

  • Nah, Christ lived about 2000 years before this story began. It doesn't affect his character at all. ;-)

But seriously, it doesn't affect Christa's character either. Her baby died horrifically. Whether it was killed by a zombie, starved to death, or was raped to death by a roaming gang of pedophiles, it's still the same thing as far as Christa's character is concerned. She is the mother of a child who died a horrific death as a baby.

Anyway, we have no idea if Christa is even still a character in this story. I would guess that she isn't, but I could be surprised I suppose.

  • I assumed she had a miscarriage or it died some other way

  • They cooked it on the roast, fire pit thing

  • I've been thinking. Perhaps, before Christa took this deep hatred of other people, she and Clem stayed with some. Perhaps in some group a long ways away. Christa had had her baby already, and cared for it with most of her time. Then she got close to another survivor. This guy, one day, disappeared, and took the baby with him.

  • I assumed that the baby was raised by wolves in a high tech bat cave built zuse the bolt king.

Just another reason I hate time jumps.

    • Thank you.. lol

  • You gotta be kidding. The loss of her child would have a tremendous effect on her.

  • It would be such a shame if she ends up a throwaway character like that. She did try her best to take care of Clem even after what happened to Omid. That kind of perseverance means enough to me that I wouldn't want her to be just forgotten like that.

  • Hopefully it was a miscarriage. I know that sounds horrible but it would be much worse if walkers got to it

Clem's comment about Christa showing her how to suture makes me think something happened that required Clem to do that to Christa.

I'm curious too if after Omid died, Christa "got rid of" the baby. She had her doubts in season 1. After Omid died, she probably knew there was absolutely no way that the baby could survive and she could keep the three of them safe. As horrible and devastating as that sounds, I feel like it's a rational thought that Christa might have had. Though I can imagine can insanely difficult it would be 1) to abort a fetus so far into the pregnancy and 2) to deal with that emotionally.

But yeah, the baby is definitely dead. She either miscarried, got rid of it, it was stillborn, or it died shortly after due to sickness/malnutrition. I wonder if a miscarried/stillborn baby would turn. They mentioned it in the TV show, but never gave an answer. I don't think I want to see a baby walker.

  • And that good sir, is why they left the baby's fate to the players imagination. If I see a walker baby, I'm done...

  • True. It may be like the thing where she is telling Kenny about how Christa said he was dead, even though we never saw Christa say that meaning Clementine will give us some information on it.

  • Wait, how do you guys know the baby's gone/dead?

  • No body, no confirmed death.

She/He got lost trying to held walker heard back in alleyway.

  • Aliens. Always assume aliens.

  • I'm guessing it was stillborn, or neonatal mortality. Christa was too far into her pregnancy by the time Omid died to have a miscarriage.

Either way, I'm pretty sure it's dead and had to be put down, sadly. I doubt Christa would just leave it behind to die of exposure, and no one is going to want to raise it.

  • 'Him'?

  • You're right. Any symbol of hope that's not Clementine wouldn't have much of a chance of surviving. lol

Lol, that was my first thought when it opened on that scene where it was Christa and Clem around a small fire. There was no baby in evidence and there was some kind of small mammalian-looking thing roasting. I thought, "Oh fuck no, eeeu...."

It was born with a beard and a trucker cap, kept calling Christa "urban" in a southern accent, so they abandoned it in the woods. Some like to believe that the baby was raised by bears and grew strong living off the land, while others wish dearly that it perished not long after its abandonment.
