Well, at least someone tries to be sensible in this thread.

  • I noticed it was exaggerated, which is why I called it out. A masterpiece is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty, intelligence, comedic ability, and coolness are more examples. It just so happens the majority of people who have played the game view it as such. Majority rule, right?

That part about 'the whole wide world' was an expression, mate. An over-exaggerated expression of TWD fans' reactions to the game in this thread I'll admit, but still.

Deserve praise for the acting come on lol

and better than TLOU, I still don't understand how that shit won over 200 GOTY awards -_-

  • Still, you didn't have to oust me by saying "You don't find it a masterpiece but most do." :/ You made it sound like I hate this game or something... I was just trying to give a fair critique about it in a civic discussion... which I knew is rarely found on the Internet, hence why I said I would have preferred to avoid this discussion in a TWD forum. Ah well.

  • I said no such thing though, and it was not intentionally implied. If you took it that way I sincerely apologize, but that's not what I meant. Obviously you enjoy the game, or odds are you wouldn't be on the forum. I'm just saying most look at it as a masterpiece unlike you and the minority other.

I'd figure this conversation has been very civil, especially on a basis of comparing it to other Internet conversations.

No, no, I do get it. I mean, yeah, the story's all kinds of awesome. I didn't just like the game, I loved it. So I'd understand the feeling of embracing this great game that we hold up in this pedestal. I mean, you were right about some points, like how the game could be considered to be quite the masterpiece when comparing the genre, the medium, and just the overall 'point-and-click' adventure games out there. It is rare to find a compelling story that grips the player as such when it comes to video games.

Agreed. I've seen heated discussions like this going South more quickly than you could say The Walking Dead. lol I've seen so much conflict on the Internet in my life. Getting real tired of it.

  • Then I'm happy to say we can end this on a good note :)

    Thanks for the conversation :D

  • Your right, I dont think a computer simulation of any kind will be able to match the 2 scenes you listed that were done right in Hollywood.

  • I think video game storytelling surpassed movies in 1998 with MGS1. Nowadays most story-based video games are better than most movies

  • Why did it get awards I'm guessing because people liked it
    Not to sound offending

Erm, I think they can...? I don't know, really... lol I was referring to how I dislike TLOU based solely on the fact that I didn't get to play it.

  • First of all, I don't think Hollywood films mean good films. In my opinion European are much better. And yes, these stories are great and graphics are beautiful.

  • lol so true so stupid that film

Yes. Especially if we're talk about the likes of Transformers and other no-brainers but EXPLOSIONS.

  • But the best film makers follow the money so everyone will want to be in hollywood as make the most money
