When Carver said something in episode 2, i can't remember what it was but it was something about the group 'following' Luke, could that mean he is the leader?
No, that doesn't mean he is the leader. He could be the one who convinced the group to leave Carver's community, or like ChocoHallic said, helped them escape. Carver, though, makes it sound like Luke was the one who "lead them astray" (that's not a quote).

I think it means that Luke helped lead the cabin group members escape from Carver's community, presumably because of Carver's tyranny.
