I play with MEHEM (former xbox guy here as well, though I've made the transition to PC now) and I, personally, think that it's better. At some points it's pretty, perhaps even painfully depending on the player, obvious that it's completely custom made, but it gets the ending itself right. If you have the proper amount of War Assets, Shep survives and gets to live it up with their LI. You don't get a choice though (I know, such a shame to lose out on those completely unique endings, right?) as MEHEM goes with destroy, but EDI and the Geth get to survive complete with scenes of the Geth and Quarians getting along.
