Episode 3 Release Date April 29 Theory
Okay I was wondering if we could determine episode 3's release date by comparing the events that led to episode 2's release.
Episode 2's events in chronological order leading to the release:
February 19 - Episode 2 uploaded on Steam.
- 4 days until Anadel sneak peak.
- 13 days before episode 2's release.
February 23 - Anadel sneak peak.
- 4 days until the trailer is released.
- 9 days before episode 2's release.
February 27 - Trailer released.
- 1 day until steam achievements are unlocked.
- 5 days before episode 2's release.
February 28 - Steam achievements unlocked.
- 4 days before episode 2's release.
March 4 - Episode 2's released!
Now episode 3's events (as of right now) in chronological order and estimations:
April 13 - Episode 3 uploaded on Steam.
- 6 days until Anadel sneak peak (skipping episode 3's achievements).
- Estimation 16 days before episode 3's release.
April 15 - Episode 3 achievements unlocked.
- Out of chronological order.
- N/A
April 19 - Anadel sneak peak.
- Estimation 5 days until the trailer's released.
- Estimation 10 days before episode 3's release.
April 24? - Trailer released.
- Estimation 5 days before episode 3's release.
April 29? - Episode 3 is released!
Telltale's rule: An episode's trailer will always be released on a Thursday and an episode launch will always be on a Tuesday. That's how I came up with the trailer being released on April 24 and the episode being released on April 29.
Now don't get your hopes up because I could be wrong. The reason I think I may be wrong is because the steam achievements for both episodes are way out of chronological order. Another reason why I think that April 29 may not be the release date is because we haven't gotten ANYTHING from Telltale. No screenshots, tweets, (about how good the episode is or how it's coming "soon") they haven't changed their wallpaper on twitter yet, etc. An additional reason is that Telltale have been dedicating a whole month for each episode (February 4 - TWAU episode 2 and March 4 - TWD episode 2).
What do you think? Mods can you please not close this thread or redirect it to the "Season 2 Episode 3 Release Date Discussion" thread yet?
Comments
I pray you're right
However, I honestly doubt it now
MAYBE, if they finally began the hype and if Sony and Microsoft finally got their asses up and do their thing, then it could happen
But
1) the complete lack of screenshots, trailers etc.
2) the complete lack of informations from TTG
3) no classification on the Australian site yet
make me worry a lot. They're killing my spirits
If finally today a Screenshot was released, or at least on Tuesday, when the Vita version comes, then it's still possible
Otherwise: May 6th at the earliest
I guess the only thing we can do is wait and cross our fingers that we get news this week. If not then I agree, May 6th is the earliest.
Really hope you're right
i cant go on mutch longer
Have you always been this stupid?
Remember this is just a theory I guarantee this will turn into the release date and people will moan if they go past it.
There was literally little to no coverage of the Wolf Among Us Episode 3 having came out. I literally found out days after it was released by noticing a review on a gaming site. TG isn't good with hyping or leaking anything.
...He said while looking at a mirror.
I know, but (and I don't want to offend any TWAU fans now) TWAU isn't that important for TTG.
The studio is mostly known for TWD, and TWAU has far less fans/players/paying customers
They will create far more hype for TWD, like they did for Episode 2
Like 'What did you say?!'
and then screenshots and a trailer and teasing all along, until the release is finally announced
When I first read the title, I thought it said, "Episode 3 Release Date April 29th" (didn't see THEORY). I was so happy for a second...
I'm sorry.
It's cool, in fact I feel pretty stupid for not seeing that. I guess I'm not awake yet.
Maybe look at the release dates for season 1 would make things a bit more clear. Telltale is just full of surprises.
*looking
Funny...
I know, right?
If this theory isn't right then I'm contacting the mods.
whats your problem im just eager to play the next episode
interesting theory, but please keep it in the episode 3 release date discussion thread
a Mod will be along.
For anyone who has been gaming for at least 10 years, Telltale would've been on their radar far sooner than TWD. Telltale had the Sam and Max series as well as Back to the Future among other games. TWD would not have been given to a no name studio that had no known games. If Kirkman, etc wanted to do that, they would've handed TWD game over to some new startup rather than an established studio like Telltale. Those who only found Telltale due to the TWD are more likely to just by hype gamers. They follow the hype and play what reviewers deem good or what gets the most rewards at conventions, etc. As soon as TWD begins to falter, these are likely the first people to jump ship to the next "cool" game while those of us that have been around since before TWD will stick with Telltale.
As for an April 29th release, TWAU just came out this month. Release TWD too close to it and they step on the toes of TWAU. And releasing one series at the start of the month and the other at the end is not alternating months for the games which was Telltale's plan. We might see a few more tweets regarding play testing the game this week and maybe an image by Friday, a few more images and the trailer next week, and the game the week after next. Two does not a pattern make. You need at least three for a pattern and going back to season one doesn't help because things have since changed. TWAU is a better one to use to make a pattern, but given the delay the game had, even that's not good to use. Holidays should also be accounted for in calculations. Spring break just occurred or is occurring depending where you are in the US which can slow down things a bit. Thanksgiving and Christmas occurred during the delay for TWAU E2 which people often ignore when doing their calculations for why it was delayed.
why? It's just a little speculation. We're all craving the next episode, so he did some research, and came up with a well thought-out, very possible theory, and I appreciate it, even if it's incorrect
This theory seems pretty solid, it would be cool if it was correct, because that means that the trailer will come out an my birthday!
Damn I hope you're right
He's not. I can't wait for him to be wrong so I can rub it in his face and never let him live it down.
You're being a dick. Let the optimists enjoy something to ease the pain of the wait, without you butting in and being a douche :C
He's wrong and being an idiot for saying that the episode is going to release in 9 days. He's lying to everyone.
I'm surprised you haven't been banned yet with all of your comments.
I, as well as most of us, hope you're right. I was thinking the same thing. Either April 29th at the earliest of May 6th at the latest.
I respect you for finding all that info however I strongly doubt a release in April, if not 100% sure. Now before you dislike (not that I care, but I don't want to be known as the pessimistic poster) I just would like to point out the fact, like the original poster has already done, there has LITERALLY been no released info about Episode 3 from Telltale. NONE. If hypothetically we did not catch the steam updates, the entire forum would be absolutely enraged with the lack of communication. It makes no business sense to release a product without any pre hype. "The Walking Dead" was a game of the year nominee last year- they are not just suddenly going to release the episode with out ANY news. Heck, I haven't even seen tweets from people/ reviewers who get to play the game early!!
In my 2 years on this forum when I joined after episode 1 of season 1, the only constant topic is how the release dates are terrible. I don't see a trend changing here especially with the circumstances of no publicity/ hype by Telltale AND the release of it on the Vita. I am still sticking to a release date sometime after May 10th.
This was on the Forum Guidelines thread. Did you make sure to read the rules?
1.1 R-E-S-P-E-C-T! We're all here to have fun, so be cool to each other. Always behave respectfully towards other community members, moderators and Telltale team members. Insults, hate speech, platform wars - leave it out.
1.3 If you think a certain topic is not worth discussing, don't try to destroy the ongoing discussion. Just refrain from posting in that thread.
They're going to ban me for giving my honest opinion?
obvious troll is obvious.
Try to use constructive criticism. That means you don't call people names and you are respective of the opinion you are debunking. Life isn't all about insults and making people feel bad, you know?
Agreed as long as your talking about MustacheKing
Yea he pretty much makes non stop threads about hating Luke and kissing Kenny's ass.
Season 1 Episode 1 was released on Thursday 24.4.2012, so the trailer could be like a birthday present. Happy birthday!
well guys im pretty sure we gotta wait 15 days god damn im sorry guys but just maybe just maybe it will come april 29
Seriously? Read the forum guidelines. You've broken so many rules.
