What would be the most traumatic for Clem?

Getting beat up by Carver

Getting sexually abused by Carver or Nate(shivers)

Having to watch her hat and Lees picture being burned

Having to watch Kenny and everyone she cares about die

Being alone again

Having to watch Carver shave Kenny's beard

I think seeing the posts from the troll would be bad....

  • Cluke is probably the most traumatic.

As horrible as all of these are, sexual abuse and watching everyone you know and love die aren't things you can really recover from.

  • Realistically, from most to least traumatic:

    1. Having to watch Kenny and everyone she cares about die

    2. Getting sexually abused by Carver or Nate(shivers)

    3. Having to watch her hat and Lees picture being burned

    4. Being alone again

    5. Getting beat up by Carver

    6. Having to watch Carver shave Kenny's beard

  • I wouldn't go that far, at least not in the case of sexual abuse. It certainly won't be easy and she'll need good people around to support and help her through the trauma, but I think Clem is strong enough to deal with something like that, given enough time.

I thought we were only talking about his beard...Yeah, I guess that would be pretty traumatic. O_O

Maybe - but I knew a girl once that was pretty badly abused when she was young. She seemed entirely alright to anyone else, but eventually she got into an actual intimate, loving relationship with a good buddy of mine, who had no idea along with the rest of us.

Eventually I got a call from him one night saying she started crying out of nowhere and beat feet and ran. He was really worried he'd done something but he hadn't - ended up no matter what she did and how much therapy she got, right there in the moment it came right back and that was all she could think about. Even fifteen someodd years later it was still ruining her interactions with people.

Maybe Clem would be different, but still. The subject is...bad.

I'd place sexual abuse below watching everyone she cares about dying, yes. I'm not trying to undermine how horrific sexual abuse would be. But that's a trauma that can be dealt with as long as she has people around her to help her deal with it. Who can she turn to for help if everyone she cares about is dead? She already thinks that she's a walking omen of death. Having that demonstrated right in front of her is just going to cause her to shut down entirely.

  • She's already seen everyone around her die. She's hardened to that situation. The other though...

And I know you didn't mean to undermine it. They're both terrible :p

  • Getting sexually abused by Luke >:(

  • That's certainly a fair point. But, I mean, some people have traumatic flashback to times when they were mugged, or attacked by animals, or bullied at school. I tend to stay away from the belief that victims of sexual abuse in particular are permanently "broken" by their experience. It just seems to me that doing so puts too much power in the crime and makes it even more damaging than it already is. But that's just my take on things.

  • She shouldn't get sexually abused by anyone! Abusers should get locked up for life

  • Having to watch Kenny and everyone she cares about die. As horrifying as sexual abuse can be, you KNOW Christa has talked to her about this. She knows what happens to little girls when society goes to shit. But watching her friends die again will be destroying the last sliver of hope she has. It would be terrible.

  • I really don't understand why we can't go a day on this forum without someone bringing up Clem being sexually abused.

  • I'm pretty sure Clementine knows what happens to little girls in the apocalypse. But if her friends died, she would have to live her entire life knowing that she could have done something to prevent it. Now that I think about it, same can be said for vice versa, though... Ugh this is a rough question. I don't know if I want to think about this.

It's pretty simple, really. The Walking Dead is about bad things happening to people. Now that we're playing as Clem, it's become about bad things happening to Clem. And sexual abuse is one of the worst things people can imagine happening to her.

I really don't understand why we can't go a day on this forum without someone bringing up Clem being sexually abused.

  • Yeah it's pretty fucked up, but can you imagine what a huge backlash that would cause? Telltale would have to massive balls portray an 11 year old girl being raped/sexually abused. Media will be all over it in a second.

She might know but she hasn't directly seen it (or so can be safely assumed). She has seen all her loved ones die around her and struggled through it. She already is living her entire life knowing she could have done something to prevent it (ie Lee). It's a really tough call, I just think because she has experienced and pulled through the one, the second would be more traumatic.

  • Well she wouldn't last very long after last night's rule 34 spam. Clem would be so traumatized. Cover your eyes Clem-Clem :(

  • I had an idea of my own a little while back. What if she were to get beaten up by either Kenny, Carlos, or Nick? It would be traumatic on both sides. Of course, I am expecting Carver to burn her things as an interrogation tactic beforehand. With the hat missing from the Ep.4 screen, I doubt she'd just lose it.

  • Naughty dog covered the situation of pedophilia and rape pretty slyly with little to no backlash and enhanced their game a lot by it.

I think seeing Lee as a walker would destroy her completely. (Determinant) I mean the only person you care about next to your family is dead 2 years ago, and then between the walker herd you're seeing him. That would be so emotional. It would be like the one that TV Show had. You know Daryl - Walker Merle scene?
