Thank you I used to suck too, but I practice and study different art techniques, and while I may not be on a professional level I can say I've gotten significantly more skilled than I was a few years ago. Still every now and then it's hard not to get discouraged because I don't feel like I'm as talented as some other artists are, even though I know I shouldn't be comparing myself to other people's progress.
Both of my parents have entirely different ideas on what fields of interest I should pursue (My mom wants to me skip university and become self-employed, but my dad wants me to go the traditional route; get a degree and get a high-paying job like an engineer or doctor) so I often feel conflicted on doing what they tell me to do or going my own way. I can't possibly please them both and myself.
You're living in Japan? Wow, what's it like? I'd love to visit there someday, maybe in Osaka or Tokyo. :-)
I always sucked at drawing, I could never get better than a couple stick figures. But I'm a pretty good writer, that's got to count for some… morething, right? I'm a high school student living in Okinawa currently, so I know it's difficult to select a field of work to get into, but you just have to find out what you enjoy and expand on that. I hope to either become a Storyboard Writer (because I enjoy writing and working on imagination) or a UN Peacekeeper (because I like helping people). All you have to do is find out what interests you and dwell on that, you still have time before you graduate, so you have plenty of time to think about it. Good luck.
