Russell's Story - Little Red Riding Hood?

edited April 2014 in The Walking Dead

Is Russell's Story an allusion to Little Red Riding Hood?

Think about--Russell's name means "red", his backpack is red, and his text during the camp scene is red. He's a young and relatively innocent person traveling to his grandmother's house (note how he mentions he's carrying food in his pack--like how Red Riding Hood had food in her basket). He's stopped on his way through the woods by a scruffy creep who agrees to take him to his grandmother's house, but... clearly has other plans in store.

Obviously it's a pretty loose adaptation and mostly a deconstruction, but I feel like there's definitely some kind of influence from the story there.

Haha, this is the weirdest theory ever, but it still makes sense XD Good perceptive eye, man. I don't think anyone else's noticed that, though I think it's most likely just coincidental.

  • So Nate is the Big Bad Wolf.
We have a new Sheriff in town.

  • Cant wait to see Nate turn into the Big Bad Wolf!

  • Well, fuck. Now I need to completely reevaluate my entire life.

  • Bigby Nate.

Cant wait to see Nate turn into the Big Bad Wolf!

  • You sir are amazing, l don't know what to say.

  • It's a zombie game, so he could still end up eating people.

Cant wait to see Nate turn into the Big Bad Wolf!

I bet that all the 400 days stories are like this. We must figure out what they are.

Nate must be one of Bigby's feral brothers.

  • Nate appears in Wyatt and Eddie's story.
Nate is possibly the Big Bad Wolf.
So let's find out what story these stoners might represent.

  • Could Nate be the woodsman? In TWAU the woodsman originally had bad intentions but is caught at the right place, at the right time, to save Little Red Riding Hood. Let's pretend Nate is the woodsman/lumberjack in this story, who could be The Big Bad Wolf? Carver maybe?

I can't believe I didn't notice that before, and In a way Russel is walking down a road surrounded by some woods at the start too, like how Little Red Riding Hood is often depicted walking through the woods [although more on a path than a road]. Nate's the big bad wolf Russel shouldn't trust and even kills the elderly couple, one an old lady, while the building they were staying in could represent the cottage. It's possible Nate might not have been the person the couple thought he was, but it could be a nudge to the tales again where the wolf lied to Little Red Riding Hood into making her thinking he was her gran, where as with this it's Nate convincing Russel he can trust him.

Regardless if it's a coincidence or not, that's a really cool find Skoothz :D

  • No. This isn't about TWAU, it's about the classic story of Little Red Riding Hood and how it applies to Russell's story, not Season 2. Nate is the Big Bad Wolf.

Nate trying to convince Russ that he is Russell's grandmother would have certainly been interesting. Maybe we should be glad we never had to see Nate in a dress and a bonnet.

  • You have consumed my likes!

  • I considered this before on account of the whole getting to grams house and Nate seeming like a wolf on the prowl. I didn't make the color connections you did so I just wrote if off as coincidence. Now I'm thinking it was deliberate. Good catch.

  • Three Little Pigs? Wyatt, Eddie and a Cop.

"Nate, what big eyes you have..."

    Alt text

Seriously though, no one realized the connection between Nate's psycho eyes? ; p

  • So Nate is the Big Bad Wolf? I knew Nate was badass!!!

But didn't Red Riding Hood get eaten by the Wolf? I can see where this is going...

  • This is fantastic.

  • Maybe what was left of Russel's trust and faith in humanity was consumed by Nate.
