Luke being a choice would probably be unlikely anyways since he technically isn't at the camp anyways (Unless he get's himself caught, but I doubt it.) Carlos would make an amazing alternative though! He's not so different from Kenny, he has someone he wants to protect at all costs, just like him. He's just a dad, just like Kenny.
But, yeah, in the matter of decision if I'd go with Kenny or Nick, I'd totally go with Nick first.
This is a fictional building, not any place we can say for sure Luke has ever been in. And the whole point of the choice is only being able… more to decide between Nick and Kenny. Though, Luke would possibly be the alternate choice if Nick died in your playthrough. Personally, I'd prefer Carlos as an alternate. He also provides an interesting contrast to Kenny, in that he also has one person he cares about more than anyone else, and there's the added issue of him being injured and unlikely to properly be able to defend himself, along with his doctor skills.
I don't think Luke makes for an interesting choice. Even though we spend so much time with him, I don't really feel any connection to him-I don't really feel like I know him all. When faced with a choice of who to go with, my mind would race to consider the pros and cons of each one, but I can't really come up with much for Luke.
I've always kind of felt that way. But yeah. Having lost Katjaa and Duck and everyone else from Season One, his desire to keep Sarita safe is bordering on crazy. He won't even let her lift a box.

Nick's a determinant death in episode 2 (lie to Walter and Nick dies when the walker attacks him) so they won't do a choice between Kenny and Nick. It will either be a choice between Kenny or Luke which is starting to become rather cliché and predictable for the series (oh boy, when's the next "choose between 2 people moment"? >.>) or there won't be a choice between Kenny and [X] (Nick, Luke, etc). I'm tired of the choosing between two people moments frankly. They're getting old. They need to mix it up some.
I'd rather Telltale did something we can't predict rather than throw us another moment of choose between two characters and the one not chosen dies or runs off into the unknown. I'd rather see something more like choose X and go to X location to see that part of the story which gives you a different POV than if you chose Y and went to Y location. Takes you two playthroughs (at least) to see both sides of an event. The two stories would obviously still be able to meet up to run their merry way. It would be like if in S1, you could choose between going to Crawford and chancing the people being hostile or chancing exploring Savannah instead to find the battery. You go to Crawford, you learn the community are now walkers and learn more about Molly. You wander Savannah instead and you don't learn that nor do you learn much more on Molly but maybe you see hints of the stranger instead. Why must there always be choices between 2 people? Why not 2 places? TWAU tried this in episode 3 although, frankly, I would've preferred picking 1 (maybe 2) location and the others aren't seen forcing you to do another 2 playthroughs or watch videos.
I'm glad it's not just me that feels that way. It's hard to explain but i trust Nick. He's honest and feels genuine remorse for his actions (like shooting Matthew). He is a really good guy and though he messes up, you can't exactly hold it against him because his reasons behind it were good at heart, even if it was a stupid mistake.
Maybe i'm just over thinking his character a bit much, but that's just my thoughts on him. He comes across as a hybrid of Ben and Kenny at first, but if you actually think about it that's not really the case at all. They are similar sure, but there are certain aspects of Ben and Kenny that Nick actually triumphs over. An example being that Nick (unlike Ben) takes responsibility for his actions and doesn't wait at the last minute to tell the truth when it's too late.
Kenny is 1000x more useful than Nick, based on what we have seen so far.
I don't know how you're equating what Kenny did in the meat locker to murder. And yes, he should not have left Lee to fend for himself under the door, but that is truly the only undeniable bad thing he has done. He doesn't ever recklessly put anyone in danger, with maybe the exception of the hostage situation at the end of S2 E2.
But by the same token, do any of us have any real reason to have confidence in Kenny? We may have known him longer, but as a result, we als… moreo know his own faults. It's not only how he recklessly puts others in danger for the few specific people he cares about, but how he deals with people who disagree with him. Lee can take his side and care for his family throughout Season One, but if you fail to side with him in murdering another human being, he will never forgive you and even nearly let you die in the following episode.
You don't know that Kenny was only thinking about his family in the meat locker, you're completely assuming. The only clear thing that he wanted to do (during the Larry situation) was to deal with Larry to ensure the survival of everyone in the meat locker. Regardless of his intentions, he still saved everyone. Using this as a negative example doesn't really make sense.
It doesn't matter who Larry was to the group. Kenny/Lee had to do what they had to do in order to ensure the safety of everyone in the meat locker.
I realize you're talking about giving Lilly time to revive Larry, which is why I told you that Kenny gave Lilly roughly two minutes to do so. Larry easily could have reanimated very shortly afterward, possibly within seconds. The group couldn't afford to give him an ideal amount of time to be resuscitated.
It doesn't matter if Larry is slow or not, all walkers are relatively slow. It would still be an extremely dangerous situation. Again, taking chances like this is not a realistic option.
The group was an afterthought-he clearly wasn't thinking about them at all. Lilly didn't want her father killed, Clem didn't want to see, a… morend depending on your choices, even Lee was against the idea. But Kenny wanted to get to his family at all costs, and that meant surviving.
Because Larry was a member of their group and Lilly's father? HE got killed over it, and technically, so did Carley/Doug. I'm talking about giving him time while Lee tried to revive him. The only time he "spared" was the time he spent trying to talk Lee into helping him. Larry is a big guy, but his size also means that he wouldn't be able to move very fast even if he did reanimate.
Doesn't he say something to that effect? It's just how he is. The only thing he was thinking about is his family. We don't know that he saved anyone, because we don't know if we could have revived Larry or not. It might have been unlikely, but not impossible. And even if he did save everyone, intentions DO matter. He really didn't give Lilly ANY time to revive Larry. He argued for killing him the minute he collapsed, and any time that passed was just him trying to convince Lee to help him, because that would make things easier. And Larry's speed does matter. Kenny could have stood nearby with the salt lick, ready to drop it if Larry reanimated.

Because it WAS murder? There was still a chance to revive Larry. It's not all that different from the situation with the cabin group when they think Clem has been bitten. They don't know for sure, and if they had indeed killed her, it would have been murder, no matter what they thought. Kenny didn't even give Larry a chance.
By what we have seen so far? What exactly are you referring to? I know Nick's not the most capable, but why do you feel Kenny is more useful?
Kenny is 1000x more useful than Nick, based on what we have seen so far.
I don't know how you're equating what Kenny did in the meat lock… moreer to murder. And yes, he should not have left Lee to fend for himself under the door, but that is truly the only undeniable bad thing he has done. To be fair, though, I don't think I would have told Lilly the truth when she was acting all psychotic like that. I also doubt I'd have told Kenny I was partially responsible for him losing his entire family so soon after their death. It's a bit different with Walter, since he doesn't actually know Matthew is dead and is expecting him to come home soon. But I do believe Nick is the better guy and has a good heart.
I'm glad it's not just me that feels that way. It's hard to explain but i trust Nick. He's honest and feels genuine remorse for his actions … more(like shooting Matthew). First of all, this choice will never happen because Nick is already dead in many playthoughs (including my playthough).
Secondly, there is no reason at all to choose Nick in this situation. I know some people on this forum seem to like Nick alot and i'm okay with that, but letting Kenny die to save Nick's live is just idiotic. Even if you don't like Kenny, it's still the most logical thing to save him. Nick is in fact " Becoming a danger to the group ", he nearly killed Clementine the first time they met and he killed Mathew aka the nicest person on planet earth because he was stupid. Kenny on the other hand was always there to help the people he cared about and even if you didn't side with him in Season1 and he didn't come with you, searching for Clementine (which is very unlikely, since you just have to tell him that she is like family to you) he still redempt himself in episode5, by saving Christa's live or by trying to save that fucking shitbird Ben.
Not to mention the fact that Kenny was part of Clementine's life for almost half a year and is very close to her. Clem only knows Nick for one week and in alot of playthoughs, she doesn't even like him.
A lot of us are holding out hope that Telltale will go all the way with their promises of our choices REALLY mattering and story branching.
Choosing between characters is a must, though. If you never had to make such choices, it wouldn't be very realistic. You've got a lot of characters with different goals and opinions, as well as conflicting methods and personalities. And this is a specific scenario I came up with. Two places would ruin the whole thing.
Nick's a determinant death in episode 2 (lie to Walter and Nick dies when the walker attacks him) so they won't do a choice between Kenny an… mored Nick. He doesn't say anything about his family while dealing with the Larry situation. He does however, argue for the safety of everyone in the meat locker. Just because he wants to help his family out doesn't mean he doesn't care about anyone else in the meat locker. I'm really not sure why you're assuming otherwise. Here are his lines after Larry dies:
"Shit! Is he dead?"
"Fuuuuuuk... if he's dead..."
"... You know what has to happen, Lee. Think about it. You saw that poor bastard at the motel. How fast he turned."
"Lilly, I'm sorry. I truly, truly am. But in a few minutes, we're gonna be stuck in a locked room with a 6-foot-four, 300 pound, SERIOUSLY pissed off dead guy!"
"We'll mourn him later. But right now, we have to keep him from comin' back."
"I wish she could (save Larry). Believe me, I do. But that mean is dead. You BOTH know what happens next."
None of that has anything to do with his family. He is talking about strictly surviving in the moment. Also, it's a good thing that Kenny started arguing for finishing Larry off pretty much as soon as he dropped dead. If he had waited to have that conversation, who knows what could have happened. Larry still was basically given as much time as the group could safely give him.
How would Kenny be standing by, ready to drop the salt lick on Larry, while Lilly was standing right there trying to resuscitate the guy? It just wouldn't be effective. Larry would grab her immediately after reanimating, which would make it very hard to smash his head in. Lilly would also have a high chance of getting her throat ripped out, for what that's worth. At the very least, she would get bitten.
All in all it would be foolish of the group to just assume they would be able to handle Larry. They couldn't afford to take chances like that, and Kenny knew it.
Doesn't he say something to that effect? It's just how he is. The only thing he was thinking about is his family. No matter what, there's nothing wrong with people using the meat locker situation against Kenny, and please don't say it's "amusing" when they do so.
There's simply no denying Kenny's impatience in the locker, or that the only thing he's thinking about is his family. He makes it even more clear when he just leaves everyone else in the barn and rushes off on his own. That he protected the others is more like an afterthought to him, used to excuse his actions when confronted by Lee. Yes, it's about surviving the moment-because if he doesn't, there's no one to save his family. They are always his motivation. The events at the lodge further show this. Who was Kenny thinking about when he kept firing on Carver? The group of innocent people being held hostage or Sarita/Clem?
Kenny manages to drop the salt lick on Larry just fine while Lee is trying to give him CPR, so I doubt he'd have a problem standing by. And someone Larry's size just wouldn't be able to move fast enough to grab anyone, especially not with someone right there, ready to take care of him.
If the person lying on the ground, not breathing, was Katjaa or Duck, would Kenny still be arguing for killing them?
You said everything that needed to be said here...
Not to mention the fact that they didn't have any weapons to defend themselves in the meatlocker!
It's really amusing how some people try to use the Meatlocker situation against Kenny!
Actually it is different with the cabin group they saw there was a chance she wasn't bitten with the Larry situation they didn't have enough time considering the cannibals were coming back and like someone mentioned earlier tha teacher reanimated nearly an instant after dying we are talking about a guy who had a heart attack that he barely survive from last time have one now with no defibrillator or anything to truly help him (especially considering they didn't have nitroglycerin pills) I'll be honest I tried to save Larry on my first two playthrough a but now (after playing the last of us) I see myself having a more pragmatic view

You may feel there is no reason to choose Nick, but as this topic shows, there are a lot of people who disagree. Also, did you really read the scenario I presented? This isn't a Carley/Doug situation. It's choosing who you want to infiltrate the building with to save everyone. Regardless, I'd still disagree with what you say. For me, Kenny is a bigger detriment to the group. Much as I like him and am glad he's alive, I know how he operates. He holds grudges over the smallest stuff and is willing to let innocent people die for even the possibility of protecting his loved ones. Everyone at the lodge could easily have wound up dead had Carter not taken Sarita/Clem hostage or Clem not pointed out that he was putting Sarita in danger.
Kenny was only part of Clementine's life for a little over three months, which is hardly a year.

I might have to choose Kenny if it's between him and Nick. He strikes me as the more experienced survivor, and as long as either Sarita or Clem were in danger he'd be willing to die to save them. Which is why, as Clem, I'd force him to save the entire group if he somehow managed to get to Sarita first. If I go to save them, he'd have to come with if he truly cares about Clem.

Yes of course Kenny was thinking about his family during the meatlocker situation. That doesn't change the fact that his decision was the right thing to do.
And no, Kenny obviously wouldn't try to kill Katjaa/Duck like this, we know that because of the " train situation ". But i would have still done the same, droping a SaltLick on their heads, even though Kenny might hate me for it. It was the right decision.

Kenny and Nick agreeing on something? Never happen. Especially since neither one would be thinking rationally with nearly everyone they love in danger.
I know, I'm not saying I disagree, as I think this is an excellent decision, but I doubt a determinant character will be able to do that, as it can show up on the % of players thing
I did address this above. If Nick is dead, then either another character-preferably Carlos-could take his place, or you could have the option of infiltrating alone.
I just believe you wouldn't be able to convince Kenny to save the others, especially if he believes doing so would in some way endanger Sarita. Look at the lodge situation. Even if you tell him not to shoot, he does anyway, because Sarita is inside. Walter dies as a result. Knowing for certain what Carver is capable of and planning to do, Kenny still wants to fire again. Even if you tell him not to, he'll only relent when you bring up Sarita.

Better yet, make a comic where Clem is unhappy they don't get along, gives them alcohol in an attempt to change that, then witnesses them drunkenly arguing over something stupid.
I hope so too, no matter what. I'm going to be ticked if they make that whole "branching paths" promise nothing but situations like the one with Pete/Nick and how choosing one leads to a slightly different situation, before returning back to the same circumstances.

This decision is harder than my dick, I want to save Kenny but if he messes up I'm going to have to pick Nick, also because I needed to keep that promise from Peter, though Kenny might mess up through our decisions, Gavin Hammon said from your decisions you could be friends with him or not, so he might mess up and you'll choose to be friends with him or not (like the Larry incident) or maybe your decisions will make him mess up, oh and before someone replies to me and get a lot of likes "Dude don't talk about your dick" ~ Wyatt
Turning the issue what issue I'm not bothering to get into this I'm just giving my honest opinion about this either you agree or you don't I don't really care

So are you telling me that protecting your family isn't the right decision? It's a zombie apocolypse, even Luke knows that the most important thing in this world is family. You can't blame Kenny for that.
Yes, innocent people might have died, but it's better to go out with a fight then just die like a coward!

I feel that way also. I cant figure out why though. I don't know why I would choose nick over Kenny.
Any particular reason?: D
Nick's a determinant death in episode 2 (lie to Walter and Nick dies when the walker attacks him) so they won't do a choice between Kenny and Nick. It will either be a choice between Kenny or Luke which is starting to become rather cliché and predictable for the series (oh boy, when's the next "choose between 2 people moment"? >.>) or there won't be a choice between Kenny and [X] (Nick, Luke, etc). I'm tired of the choosing between two people moments frankly. They're getting old. They need to mix it up some.

You said everything that needed to be said here...
Not to mention the fact that they didn't have any weapons to defend themselves in the meatlocker!
It's really amusing how some people try to use the Meatlocker situation against Kenny!
Kenny for me but I wouldn't want to make a decision like this in the first place

Actually it is different with the cabin group they saw there was a chance she wasn't bitten with the Larry situation they didn't have enough time considering the cannibals were coming back and like someone mentioned earlier tha teacher reanimated nearly an instant after dying we are talking about a guy who had a heart attack that he barely survive from last time have one now with no defibrillator or anything to truly help him (especially considering they didn't have nitroglycerin pills) I'll be honest I tried to save Larry on my first two playthrough a but now (after playing the last of us) I see myself having a more pragmatic view
As I said to the poster above, there's always a chance. Nick's also still alive in many playthroughs, including mine.
What is Nick is dead? Is Clem forced to infiltrate with Kenny, or is there another character that takes Nick's place?
I might have to choose Kenny if it's between him and Nick. He strikes me as the more experienced survivor, and as long as either Sarita or Clem were in danger he'd be willing to die to save them. Which is why, as Clem, I'd force him to save the entire group if he somehow managed to get to Sarita first. If I go to save them, he'd have to come with if he truly cares about Clem.
The amount of assumptions you make are just not realistic to what would actually be happening in that situation.
What assumptions are you talking about?
Impossible, as Nick can die. Same with the Nick/Pete, in the choices section, it avoids % of players blah with Nick or Pete as it is determinant
There was a chance Larry could be saved. And if you're going to turn it into an issue of time, then the same could be said for the cabin group. They believed she was bitten and could reanimate at any moment. Even if Larry did die and reanimate instantly, it shouldn't be a problem as long as Kenny was just standing by with the salt lick. Larry's too big to move fast.
I keep saying that doesn't matter. Telltale swears they're going with branching paths.
They need to get drunk to get along...
I might draw this
I know, I'm not saying I disagree, as I think this is an excellent decision, but I doubt a determinant character will be able to do that, as it can show up on the % of players thing
What's the point of branching paths if not to switch things up. For me, that includes the stats at the end.
The Walking Dead cares nothing for what you want.
To you, maybe. But the stats show that there were plenty of other plays who felt it was the wrong decision.
They have never branched the stats screen, I hope you prove me wrong
Better yet, make a comic where Clem is unhappy they don't get along, gives them alcohol in an attempt to change that, then witnesses them drunkenly arguing over something stupid.
Doesn't really show that they think it's the wrong decision I've known some people who agree with what kenny says yet they can't do it themselves
I hope so too, no matter what. I'm going to be ticked if they make that whole "branching paths" promise nothing but situations like the one with Pete/Nick and how choosing one leads to a slightly different situation, before returning back to the same circumstances.
I hope Nick lives
Tu
