Favorite Historical Events/ Eras?
So for me, historical events that interest me are the sinking of the Titanic, 911, World War 2 and the JFK assassination. As for eras, I'm a big Middle Ages fan. Anyone like to share?

I love the 90's era (does that era count?) since I'm a 90's kid. And personally I have no interest in any historical events in general, only events that are mysterious, weird, and bizarre.
I always kinda thought the 90's was sort of the technology era, when all the stuff we use today (such as mobile phones, DVD's and the Internet) came around.
Yeah, you could say the 90's was the "birth of the wave of technology" which lead through many breakthroughs. One thing I do appreciate about that era was how much our generation of the youth is waaaaay better than the shitty, bratty and spoiled generation of kids we have.
I think some of the first smartphones came out n the 90's. is that true?
Hmmmm...not sure but I don't think so...
Tunguska.
Just looked it up, some of the forerunners for smartphones came out in the 90's. And of course, we can't forget the internet. Just wondering, what was the internet like back then?
You mean the Tunguska blast?
Damn slow. Believe me, I've been there. Before, it wasn't modems that powered your connection, it was dial-ups which were slow and noisy.
how did it work? Was there a search function like Google?
I heard about that. Lots of debate about what caused it.
The Chernobyl incident: I know, I know, kind of morbid, but anything with a fallout-like scenario interests me. I'm a sucker for hazmat suits.
Well my memory is a bit fuzzy but I think you'd need a phone for a dial-up. So I think you'd have to activate it, then it makes a weird series of sounds while trying to connect then after 2-4 minutes (which lasts like forever) you'd be connected!
Well, the internet speed back then was pretty slow, so whenever there's a new page, it'd load a page horizontally (for example: load 1/4 of the upper page, then after "buffering" and "loading" it loads another half and the process continues until the page is fully loaded.)
Lol jk I think it was a meteor though
Every time I think that the 90's and early 200's where like the present day, I'm going to remember this.
Several theories suggest that the Chernobyl Incident caused genetic mutation around the area which made...new spawn mutants! O_o I find that hard to believe myself.
I guess I'm as mistaken about the Tungguska debate about as much as I'm mistaken about the debate that Lee Oswald might have been a patsy.
Doctored photos or not, I truly believe that there are new kinds of species still roaming in the Chernobyl wastelands! :P 3-eyed fish, 2-headed bears? Whatever the deal is, I think it exists for now. Well, maybe the 2-headed bear thing does sound a bit silly, haha.
I might have to agree with their theories too!
Some say he was actually a Soviet spy.
As outrageous as they seem, anything can happen...maybe brain-mutated super intelligent chimpanzees perhaps?
RememberTheGoodOl'Days
That, or this. (shudders)
WTF?!
By the way, when you mentioned 'brain-mutated super intelligent chimpanzees'? I couldn't help but think of this!
Lol XD So its gonna be the rise of the planet of the apes it seems...
It seems so, protect your bananas!
Yup.
I doubt we'll ever know. Thanks a lot Jack Ruby.
Get your hands off of me, you damn dirty ape!
I was still shitting in diapers in the good ol' days.
...unless we revive Oswald as a robot to retrieve information
Lol, I just searched the scene now after reading your reply. Nice!
By the way, just had to say that I absolutely LOVED the steampunk era, gear-controlled steambots, top hats with goggles, mechanical zeppelins flying around. Oh wait, that era didn't exist, did it? Fuck, that would've been sweet if it did though, don't ya think?
You're my favorite person ever! History is my #1 subject.
Favorite Era: Damn, that's tough...mostly eras were interesting, honestly. Buuuut, I'd probably have to say, 1900-1918. It was a crazy couple of decades. The Concert of Europe broke down and the great powers blundered into one of the most brutal and pointless wars of all time. Empire rose and fell and America took its first steps toward becoming a superpower.
BONUS Least favorite era: The 1930's...man, fuck the thirties! A decade that brought you the Great Depression, Holomodor, Great Purges, rise of Nazism, Nuremburg Race Laws, the Rape of Nanjing and the outbreak of WWII.
Favorite event: That's easy! The Treaty of Westphalia in 1648. The birth of diplomacy and the nation state as we know it! We still live in the Westphalian system today. Sure it might not be as action packed as a war, but it's a helluva lot more significant in the long run.
The time when I conquered the world. Good times.
...what do you mean the world isn't conquered, yet? Oh, that's right. I have yet to actually bring the apocalypse. I will start tomorrow, maybe.
The 1940's:an era that brought you Pearl Harbour, Hiroshima, Nazi labour camps and most of Berlin in ruins.
