Why I think Carver is a bad leader

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
I have noticed something, Carver isn't exactly the greatest leader ever. He leaves his camp to track down people that left his group to find his unborn baby that would be a drain in resources. While doing this he loses ammo, a man, and most likely food and water. He also brings a bunch of survivors that hate him to his camp where they could no doubt screw stuff up. He also kills Walter, who I fell wouldn't have put to much of a fight when he was taken to the camp, and determinately Alvin, turning the carrier of his baby into an emotional wreck. He also injures Carlos, meaning he probably will have trouble helping do stuff in the camp, and also no doubt ruining any chance of getting Sarah to join his side. Finally. he will determinately gets injured, ruining his arm and putting a bullet hole in his jacket. EDIT: This is kind of unrelated, but it might be a sign he's known where they were for a while now. When he goes to the cabin he doesn't mention Nick's mom, meaning he probably knows she's dead.

  • Maybe he isn't quite as intelligent as he is made out to be. Still is my favorite character tho, and I will side with him if given the choice.
  • He might have a second in command like Vince... or Nate.... idk
  • He obviously didn't think out a better plan... He just went by bring them back AT ALL COSTS. Even if that means almost dieing in the process.
  • Vince could be the guy getting hit. But my guess is a new character that tried to help Clementine.

  • If Kenny's gun had a scope. Good lord Carver would be long gone. After he's dead, the group could easily just tackle/attack Troy and Bonnie. Then, game over bitches.

  • What if he isn't even the leader? Like, he could be the leader of a set of certain individuals, or a specific group to head out and do runs, missions, etc. but there is the possibility that someone bigger and more powerful is leader at the holdout. It would be a neat twist if this leader is someone we've already met, possibly Lilly? She is the leader type after all.
  • That would be so screwy, but in a good way.

  • I wouldn't say he's a bad leader just a stupid one...ok yah he's a bad leader.
  • Oh, Ducky. What would you do in this situation.

  • Well, Troy and Bonnie might shoot them if they tried to tackle them.

  • No offense, but why would you side with him? We've not seen him do a single good thing so far.

He's a good leader, and he's smart, he just uses his smartness the wrong way (psst hitler), he immediately avenged Johnny's death(but he shouldn't have done what he did) and his group is well stocked, his base is Howes for crying out loud! (Howes is the TWD equivalent of Lowes which can be seen behind Carver at the screenshot where he's smacking someone, look it up if you don't know what it is) P.S forgot to mention he's gone mad with power, that's why he's a "bad leader"
  • Hint hint, Kenny missed him for the sake of Plot...

Carver's seems like a dictator to me. He probably is, or was, a capable leader. He's smart, an able fighter and absolutely ruthless (which comes in handy in the apocalypse). But his city is subject to his whims. Whatever he wants to do, he's going to do. So if he wants to waste men, resourses, time and energy to chase some people who hate him anyway, there's nothing to stop him.
