My first Thread / Confession!

Hello everyone, i've got a confession to make, but just so it's not so grimm i would like to start with saying hello to all you members, i finally (after 6 months of lurking) decided to create a account here, anyway here goes..

I'm a long time Walking Dead fan, i played season 1 atleast 5 times and the fact i WAS a hardcore gamer just 2 years ago and now only play Telltales' games and some Puzzle/coop, RPGs is a strong one. I have purchased Season 2 on steam, but i have to confess i pirated the first season, not sure what to expect.. i did however get season 1 on steam just to show my support just now!

Did you guys pirate any of it? how do you feel about it? i felt guilty (wich i rarely do when i pirate(d) something, so in my books this is easily one of the most creative and artistic approach to gaming in the recent decade (im lookin at you COD -_-)

  • To be honest i kinda know how you feel, i remember even going as far as to avoid the game(First season), back in 2012 because i thought it was going to suck( Boy was i wrong) and i only recently got around to playing it when i heard about season 2 back in January. So i too decided to Pirate it, played it then felt guilty as hell after a full play through. After the overwhelming feels i got from it,

i ended up buying it on Steam along with 400 days and also Season 2 a couple days later. I even played it back over at least 3 time as to how good it was. I think it was the first if not, the only game i really thoroughly enjoyed. Got attached everyone of the characters.

But yea gotta say this was only game i've felt guilty of pirating to the extent that i actually went and bought it after playing it. just to show my support.
  • Mods banned a user for saying he pirated so be careful. I didn't pirate myself bought a season pass on Ps Vita store and bought s2 as well. Also welcome to the forum
  • I think as long as you officially bought the first season it's fine, especially seeing as you sound like you think it wasn't a great thing to do.
  • I approve your username!
  • Err, pirates. You honestly shouldn't pirate anything, it's not right and causes a lot of people to lose their jobs.
  • Welcome to the wait party! Pirating is a no-go for me. Although in honesty I did used to have a snes emulator way back when. I ended up buying ff6 on PSN, so if I could also get Shadowrun and Tactics Ogre then my debt will be paid in full.
  • Welcome to the forums! Nah, I didn't pirate it, I tried the first episode when it was free just to see what the hype was all about and boy, I was surprised at how good it was! This game is a masterpiece.

Yep, CoD sucks in my opinion. I liked CoD4 modern warfare because it was something new and different, but after that it was basically the same game getting released every year. I don't understand why people keep buying it.
  • Unfortunately I've pirated it at first, but I did not think it was so beautiful! After realizing that this game is a masterpiece, I immediately bought both seasons on Steam anyway ... However, I did my first playthrough on the pirated version, and unfortunately I have to use that ... If I had known before, that this game would become my favorite, I would not have done that... :D
  • Thank you :)

  • Because It's fun to play? A game can be creative as fuck doesn't mean It's any good.

  • You're damn right. I would rather play a game with a good story instead of mindless fun, although I don't mind it. I also stopped playing it because the fanbase was mostly little 8 year old kids cursing and crying every time they would get killed in the game, it got really annoying. CoD also ruined a lot of other first-person shooters (Halo) because other companies thought that it was what the players wanted. They basically turned Halo into CoD in space which pissed me off.

I agree, I enjoyed every halo except halo 4 as that game was to easy for me

It also caused the downfull of the gears of wars franchise as epic and people can fly catered to cod players instead of their own fanbase

  • Yes, tell me about it! The ranking system in that was so stupid, I miss when Halo was actually fun to play and it required a good team to compete with others, not just random weapons everywhere and over powered weapons with OP perks as well. The first 3 were great, but after that Halo started to slowly die. I hear they might be making a H2 remake most likely for the Xbone though. If it's true and they keep everything the same with just updated graphics, then I might get it.

I pirated the Season 1 at first but seeing as how much i liked the story i bought the season pass, and plus having your save files in the cloud sync in steam is a big relief in it self and alone for that reason deserves the money, im a casual pirate (go ahead and ban me if you will). In my opninion there are too many shitty games out there for me to go spending my hard earned money on, but when i do come across a game which i like as mush as TWD then i always end up buying the game because i want to support the developers and because i wish to see more of the same stuff.
