What Place Would You Like to Visit?

edited May 2014 in General Chat
For me it would have to be New York City, but I'd really like to someday visit America. The only way people would figure out I was a foreigner was if I asked for directions (although I occasionally talk like an Aussie).

  • I live in New York City, lol.

But, I would like to visit Los Angeles, Miami, or anywhere in Hawaii. I would also love to visit Australia, Japan, and New Zealand. I'm in love with the Aussie accent ever since I watched the show "Lost". I love Japanese people, I wish I had more Japanese friends. New Zealand, I wanna go for the same reason as Australia...their accents.
  • Well I don't have the Aussie accent. Sorry :) So how long have you lived in New York?

  • Aww, what a disappointment, lol. I was born here, actually. So I been living here all my life.

  • I really wanna visit the World Trade Center site some day. I've been pretty interested by the topic. Must have been crazy the day it happened.

  • I walk by there sometimes to see their progress with the new Freedom Tower. They're nearly done now. But, that place was eerily quiet and creepy several years ago. I remember going there with my mom back around 2010. That place was completely silent compared to the rest on NYC, it kinda freaked me out, lol. And yes, that was a very crazy and terrible day, indeed. I still remember the exact events I was in that day. Still gives me goosebumps..

I bet it does. If I went into Melbourne and saw a plane fly into a skyscraper, I'd be shitting myself for a long time.
EDIT: Also, hasn't there been non-stop work there since 9/11? First there was the cleanup operation and the Freedom Tower must have taken years to build, since the first tower started in the 60's and finished in the 70's.

  • At this point, New Yorkers have seen a lot of shit. Literally anything can happen here. And I'm just walking down the street normally with that in mind :P

  • Even when you don't count the times that half the city gets destroyed in the movies? Because NY seems like the common location for an action movie where stuff gets blown up.

  • Yes, even that. It's a perfect place to make movies with shit getting blown up, lol. This is Hollywood's favorite city to destroy. But it's kinda cool, though.

  • And there's also the "New Yorkers band together in a time of crisis" cliche.

  • We just take the train home and go on with our lives xD

  • Your comment reminds me of that scene from Spiderman 2.

  • Also, what's that song about New York that I keep hearing on the internet? It's at the end of Men in Black 3, but I don't know the name.

  • Alicia Keys - New York. It's on YouTube :)

  • I'd like to visit the Belgium/The Netherlands someday. I'm an International Relations/History nerd, so I find things like the ICC headquarters and old WWI battlefields interesting.

I'd also like to visit Al-Misr (Egypt) some day, but I think I'll wait a couple years on that one...
  • I'm planning on backpacking around Europe in 2 years, and I'm most excited about Italy, Holland and France. I'm also dying to go to Australia and India. c:
  • Well be prepared to hear people talk about footy a lot.

Somewhere outside of Europe, preferably. It occurs to me that I've spent 27 out of 29 years here, was born here, lived in four different European countries, (Germany, Hungary, Denmark, Italy) visited all the others, and only bothered to leave it once - and even then, it was just one place in Canada that I stayed for about a year and a half.

I plan on retiring somewhere sunny, though I think I'd probably sizzle and pop the second I stepped foot over the equator.
  • YES!! my country Ireland got a mention finally
  • Can I get some of that Irish luck? I think I need it these days.

For those of you who want to visit Australia, you may want to rethink that idea after you see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grh0tlJtViw
WARNING: A lot of swearing and a very stereotypical Aussie accent.
Crap sorry. the link won't work.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Australia isn't like that at all. Well where I live at least. What part of Australia are you from?

  • That has nothing to do with it. I simply made the post as a joke. The video was made by an Aussie comedian who made an "Australia in 2 Minutes" video. It's just a bunch of jokes with Aussie slang and an Aussie accent. It's a parody of Australia.
