Story Idea- Carver Kills Luke or Kenny, Clementine's Choice

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
Hey telltale, I know your hard at work on the next episode of The Walking Dead, I hope you have time to listen to a really awesome idea I have for an in-game choice. I don't know if you have the full story for this season already cemented, but I think it would be really cool if at some point this season, Carver forces Clementine to choose between Luke or Kenny. He could force her to choose which one he kills, to teach her a lesson about the making hard choices to survive, or something to that affect. It could be a choose one or I'll kill them both scenario. He could even force her to pull the trigger, if you wanted to get really dark with it, or have a choice that results in both of them dying, maybe if she refuses. I think this would an amazing addition. Who agrees?

  • Then I've done my job. I was simply pointing out the flaw in this choice. Easy choices=bad.

  • SHUT UP, MAN
    YOU'RE GIVING THE WRITERS IDEAS.
  • I would probably have my mouth hanging open and Carver would have officially entered my "I'm going to kill you" list.

...is there a "Be nicer to me..." death ray-eyes disintegrating Carver option? :/
  • I don't think so. :P

EXACTLY! THIS IS VERY BAD IDEA! T_T TRUST ME I'M A WRITER TOO AND WE JUST KNOW THESE THINGS! IF THEY DO A "WANNA KILL KENNY OR LUKE" IN THE GAME I'LL RAGE QUIT AND DRINK WHISKEY FOR THE REST OF MY DAYS!

DON'T DO IT MAN! PLEASE!!! I WANT THEM TO LIIIIIIVE!

  • Hahaha! Death to Luke, that way Greg can't make any more Cluke jokes.
  • He made one joke in one episode, please watch it and stop writing shit on things you don't know about.

  • Luke seems smart, stealthy , loyal and open minded

Kenny is loyal, ruthless which at times can be beneficial and loyal
  • It doesn't seem like the writers check the forums so much, though.

  • If that happens, I won't play it anymore. Luke has become one of my all time favorites, he has stood up to Clementine all the time. For Kenny, well, do I have to say anything? He's just Kenny!
  • Or Carver could ask Clem to choose which one of the two she wants to live and Carver kills the person who is chosen.
  • I could see something like this happening, as much as I don't want it to because I love both of the characters.

It would be super interesting because it's a lose-lose situation. You pick the person you like, they die anyways. You pick the opposite person to save the person you like, and have to deal with the repercussions of that person thinking you were going to let them die.

He wasn't exactly loyal to Lee... (Determinate)

  • Plot twist, He tells to to pick a person to save and then kills the person you choose. If you choose to save Kenny then he will die. Then luke is all sitting there like "wtf, you were gonna let me die!"

This idea's cropped up here before, and personally I like it. A choice like that would allow gamers to eliminate one character they dislike, while assigning a huge chunk of screen time to either Kenny or Luke, which would normally have to be divided between them. It would also give Carver a more significant role in the story and Clem's own journey.

The one possible downside to this scenario would be Kenny or Luke being relegated to a peripheral Carley/Doug status in the story, unless Telltale took the extra step of allowing Kenny/Luke to participate in the narrative as if they hadn't become determinant at all. Kenny and Luke are both proactive enough to fill out the "alpha male" role in Clem's group, but their personalities are also radically different, making the prospect of further playthroughs (and seeing how a scenario would play out with either Kenny or Luke) even more enticing.
  • I assume you were one of the downvoters?

    O RLY?

  • Lol, nah. I told you I respect your opinion about Kenny, it's just you spread it like when people were saying, "THE END IS NIGH" (the end of the world)

  • Hey, I was just pointing out that you could accurately predict the percentages in this one. Pointing out that some people are so set on one or the other that that wouldn't work.

  • If that is the choice then im sure there will be an option to stay silent, and I will do that, I will no longer choose peoples fate because im just Billy yoder, not Jesus.

I would save Kenny every time, I love how loyal Kenny was to my Lee and I think he'd make a really good guardian for Clem considering he was willing to go to through hell and back to save Clem in my playthrough. (You and Clementine are the only family I got left. I'm with ya, to the end.)

    Can't stop the Ken train.
  • i think he brought cluke up(jokingly) he didn't mean for it to get out of hand. so now everyone blames Greg for cluke. but Greg did technically start it.

  • I would choose to save luke.
  • I would obviously save Kenny. Easy choice for me.
  • It would be twisted if you pick one of them then he shoots them both.
  • This could possibly be solved if he gave us the gun to shoot them ourselves and instead we just shot Carver.

I don't know who i would pick though, *maybe* Luke (don't kill me)
  • Was this the episode Scott Parker was on?

  • I totally read that in Scott Porters voice hahah

  • For me, Luke would be the one to save. I mean, we forget sometimes to take season one's effect on Clem. She wasn't the protagonist, she was simply witnessing these horrifying events happening first to her old world in her treehouse and then watching Lee's group die off one by one. Yeah, WE have fantastic memories of season one, but does Clem? I think being with Kenny and reliving those traumatic experiences she had at a very young age wouldn't be good for her to move on and survive the ZA. No matter how you play Clem, when she talks about Lee, it's clearly hurting her, because she misses him.

And I think Luke is seriously attractive so more screentime for me :D
  • I save luke as he is not reckless and often plans ahead
