There's not going to be a Luke or Kenny choice in Episode 3

I don't know why so many people are saying that there's going to be a Luke or Kenny choice in episode 3. There's so many things wrong with having a choice this, this early in the season.

1. We hardly know anything about Luke while Kenny has a sense of familiarity and nostalgia to him since he was in season 1 so it's not fair to Luke since Kenny has been in 6 episodes while Luke has only been in 2.

2. Ending Luke's story in episode 3 would be a huge disappointment. All that potential wasted because of this choice. His story would definitely not be the same if he was determinant.

3. Nick Breckon has stated that writing for a determinant character was a nightmare in itself. Imagine writing a story for two major determinant characters that are supposed to live to episode 5. That's hell.

4. Let's be real, the majority are going to pick Kenny over Luke. Telltale has a chance to make this one of the most difficult choices in TWD, but they have to give Luke CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! Seriously Telltale, the character development in episode 1 was garbage, episode 2 was okay, but now Luke is missing and he might not even show up until the end of episode 3 for all we know (I really hope this is not the case). Telltale better not drop the ball on his character development in episode 3. If they do then all I have to say is... what a waste of potential.

This Luke or Kenny choice is not a good idea this early in the season. This is just my opinion though.

It's ok to pick Luke, but Cluke?

    Fuck Cluke.

If there was, I'd still pick Luke :) #Cluke

  • What's wrong with Cluke?

    Christa + Luke = Cluke

  • Why?

  • Only saying that they have that sibling attitude towards each other. There's certain things he says to her in Episode 2 that makes them a good companionship. But everybody seems to be referring to them as eventually having a relationship.... a 11 year old and an adult.....

  • Ok... that's at least better. As long as it's just a BROTP it's ok.

  • Not as a relationship

I agree. If I'm honest, I'd prefer Telltale subvert expectations in this case and maybe have Luke and Kenny as part of Clem's new family that manages to survive when all is said and done. But that might be a little too hopeful so maybe just have one sacrifice himself for the other based on who Clem has shown a greater attachment to (person closest to Clem is saved for her sake) in Episode 5.
  • "This early in the season" As soon as episode 3 hits we will be on the halfway point.
  • ....BUT THAT'S WHAT 'SHIPPING' MEANS

    Not as a relationship

  • They'll save that choice for Ep.5 when you gotta choose between pizza and ice cream
  • It's depressing knowing that we are almost at half way through the Season

"This early in the season" As soon as episode 3 hits we will be on the halfway point.

  • Yeah, you're right, it probably is too early in the season.

Maybe this will be a choice for Episode 5 when Luke gets more character development.
  • You have a good point but i think you will make a choice, not who you save but who you side with.
  • That's something I can get behind.

  • Well if it ever becomes this I gotta pick Luke. #Cluke... sorry guyz
  • Make a choice save Luke and Kenny but the rest of the Cabin crew die or Save Cabin group and watch Carver beat Kenny and Luke to death
  • There will most likely be a Kenny/Luke choice. May not be life or death, but Luke will probably want to play it smart in some way and deal with Carver. Then Kenny will probably just get angry as usual and take a more direct way.
  • I think this decision will be in Episode 5, probably something to do with the Pizza/Ice Cream thing. It will probably be the ultimate decision of the season.
  • Thank you for making this thread, lol! I've been meaning to make a thread about something like this for a while now, but didn't know how to put it into words.
  • I would pick luke

"This early in the season?" By the time we've finished episode 3, we'll be about 55% done with season two. Anyway, nobody here is saying it's the kind of decision that should happen in the first act. It would make for better plot structure if it went down in the last three minutes of the episode.

Secondly, stating outright "there's NOT going to be a Luke or Kenny choice in Episode 3", as if it were already set in stone, is somewhat presumptuous, considering we haven't even played it yet.
  • I firmly believe that if it comes to that, there would be a choice. They can easily kill Luke and tailor the story without him.
Same goes for if Kenny dies.

Anyways, I would pick Kenny to Live. I love both characters, but Kenny is from Season 1 and that scene where he meets Clem at the lodge was touching.
  • As much as I hate Cluke, I would go with Luke. His character is much more interesting than Kenny in my opinion. Kenny is all right but he didn't try to help me look for Clem at first in 105. I bet sure as hell Luke would have helped Lee.
  • I meant it's too early in the season for this kind of choice. "There's NOT going to be a Luke or Kenny choice in Episode 3" may seem like a bold statement, but if I were a gambling man, I'd place a confident bet in there NOT being a Luke or Kenny choice in Episode 3.

  • Maybe in episode 5, when all Walking Dead Player like Luke so much, because it's much better hurt in the end of the game. And again, again all Walking Dead player cry out their eyes. :(

Telltale can make it this hard choice.
  • I feel the same - we just met Kenny again, too, after all, and I think we're going to learn more about the time in which he was gone first.
  • I agree. Still, I think it's pretty much "confirmed" we will have a choice like this, I'm thinking near the end of the game. And when that time comes, I'll pick Kenny.

Sure, he has a lot of flaws, but those flaws is what makes him so appealing in my eyes. Since I believe the majority of people will act in a similar, if not the same way if the ZA were to happen.
  • IF Kenny survives 'til then. TTG likes dropping feels on us like Kenny likes to drop his saltlick.

  • Also true. You never know with TellTale...

  • And if you don't side with Luke once I'm sure he'll still help you out...

  • I would pick Kenny for 3 reasons
    1. He's a very realistic character
    2. He's from season 1, and that, of course, brings back nostalgia
    3. I love Kenny
