Why I love Lilly (SPOILERS!!!)

>Do not read unless you finished at very least up to the end of Season 2 Episode 2<

I know many hate her, but why? Just because she killed Carly/Doug? I actually agree with Lilly.
Yea, she can be a drag. But heres the thing:

As you know from watching the TV series and playing the comics, sometimes someone needs to lead and make rash decisions to protect the group. Lilly was trying to protect the group. She killed C/D, but that can be justified. She tried to protect the group. You also have to feel sorry for her. She lost everyone she cared about.

Does anyone else feel that Lilly is judged a bit too harshly?
I want Lilly to return eventually. I think it would be cool if this happened:

Clem, Kenny and the others arrive at Carvers camp, and Lilly turns out to be a person there. Lilly stole the RV and headed north (or walked, depending on if you left her).
Carvers camp is in the north. Wouldn't it be great if:
Clem and Kenny meet Lilly there. Clementine and Kenny tell Lilly that it was actually Ben that betrayed the group, and Lilly gets upset due to her murder of C/D. She then is caught up on what happened with the other group members. Then, due to certain circumstances, Kenny and Lilly form a truce and work together to take down Carver with the others.

I think that would be cool, but obviously others have a different idea probably.

  • I wanted Lee to get with Lilly. But your theory sounds cool. I like Lilly.

I can't say i wasn't mad at Lilly cos i was, im a Kenny fan and well Lilly is awesome too and is tnx to her everybody made it out of the motor inn, she was the one shooting the bandits, that allowed Ken to quickly start the RV, of course Kenny fixed it but Lilly gave him enough time to start it, she saved Lee, Ken, Katjaa and all even when her dad died, she wasn't bad she just lost control, but i disagree with you when you say it can be justified, you don't kill a person even if it's a thief, she killed Carley-Dough but she didn't have to do it, Carley didn't deserve it, neither Dough they were friends.
  • Yeah, I'm kind of hoping we find Lilly, I'm trying to get the group back together. Now I just need Lilly, Christa, and Molly. Anyway, she was trying to help the group, she just had the wrong idea of how to do that. I do feel kind of bad for her.
  • though she loses her head, it's hard to leave the choice on the road.

For me, about llily, is one of the mysteries of the game grades. What happened to Lily?
    Have not heard from her?
  • I like both Kenny and Lilly but I feel like I liked Lilly more. Lilly was military trained and she also trained the other survivors with firearms. Lilly also thought more of the well being of the group rather than the needs of a few. Now, she fucked up by killing Carley and it really made me mad. She should have killed Ben and boom problem solved . I really just want some closure with her character, and it would be nice of she appeare later on in the season. I just hope that if she does, the choice you made with Lee will still echo
  • So then you think Nick deserved to be left to die by Walter?

I like both Kenny and Lilly but I feel like I liked Lilly more. Lilly was military trained and she also trained the other survivors with fir

  • Lilly was just wayyy too much of a dictator for me to like her character.
  • I think killing Ben would still have been kinda bad.

I like both Kenny and Lilly but I feel like I liked Lilly more. Lilly was military trained and she also trained the other survivors with fir

  • When you say you agree with Lilly, do you mean you thought it was right of her to kill Carley/Doug? I don't see how you could justify shooting someone dead because they spoke their mind, not to mention killing someone doesn't count as protecting them, or others, when they're also not a threat.

Also, I'm not sure whrere in your comments your explanation for loving Lilly is, so much as it is a defense of her character.

I would like to see the outcome of her hearing about Ben, though, and seeing Kenny and Clem with their own groups, though. That'd be quite an interesting discussion.
  • Well.. in comparison - Leaving Ben to die was way easier for me than to let Lilly go. Evenso in the heat of moment it was harsh. I mean you dont just shoot a personin the head just like that. Ever.

But that's a huge strong part of this game, to decide differently especially about controversial people doing somewhat bad/non idea choices.
  • Amen brother or sister.team lilly for 80% of the time
  • Murder can never be justified. She murdered Carley in cold-blood, and tried to kill Ben, resulting in the death of Doug. Don't act like she was doing it to protect the group, she killed Carley because she wanted to. Judged too harshly? She deserves to be judged harshly.
  • I love Lilly. She gets WAY too much shit from the fandom.
  • I think she's judged too harshly, because all she was trying to do was protect the group. Carley mouthed off to her while she was in a very mentally unstable state and when she was RIGHT, and got shot because of it. If you choose to save Doug instead in episode 1, then he gets shot trying to protect Ben, Lilly didn't mean to shoot him. Either way Lilly's not completely wrong for what she did. Ben should have fessed up to giving the bandits supplies. Had he just told the truth and explained why he did it, Lilly probably would have calmed down and been more reasonable.
  • Yay ! An appreciation thread towards my baby !

Well i agree with everything you said.

Plus she might have killed Carley/Doug but Kenny killed Larry cold blood and no one said anything about that.
  • If this was the case, I probably wouldn't have left her on the side of the road. I didn't like Ben even before his little secret was revealed.

  • Sooo, why do you love Lilly?

In your entire post i saw 0 points about why you love Lilly.
  • I hope she returns so I can tell her ben stole the supplies. She'll probably feel guilty for killing Carley... Hopefull
  • Yeah, I noticed that too, Clem.

Sooo, why do you love Lilly? In your entire post i saw 0 points about why you love Lilly.

  • Well, she shoots Doug accidentally when trying to kill Ben, but I can't really excuse Carley's death, mainly because I got pretty attached to her character. Lilly basically believed everyone hated her and wanted her out of the group after Larry died, and she'd basically been paranoid and grieving the entire time.

  • I really hope she return. I'm happy, if she help Clem, but if she don't help, the she could be a "good" villain at Carver's side.

I'm curious their reactions (Clem, Lilly, Kenny), if they see each other? A biggest hug in the Walking Dead game, or a biggest bloodshed?

This is could be very interesting.
  • No, in my playthrough I told Walter that Nick was a good guy and later on Walter ended up saving him.

  • Lilly could have justified herself more had she killed Ben. Stealing medicine to give to others, especially bandits is an awful offense. And not only that he was doing it for weeks while he sat on his ass on "watch" while Lee and Kenny risked their lives to obtain those supplies. I'm sure if she had killed him and told the group that those were her reasons Kenny would have sided with her for like the first time.

Even if it was wrong, do you realize Ben gave the group more time to live? Yeah he could have told Lee about it, but the bandits outnumbered them they could have killed em anytime and take their stuff, at least Ben gave Kenny enough time to repair the RV, the only reason Lee and his group made it out alive it's because they surprised the bandits and barely made it and of course the RV Kenny fixed thanks to the blessing of being alive, they say people only see the bad things about people but Ben was a good guy and like it or not he is the reason Lilly is alive even if his actions were wrong.

  • Oh yeah, it definitely would have been more justifiable. It still wouldn't have been a good thing to do though, as it was completely unnecessary. The decision should have been a group decision as well, instead of her making that choice by herself.

I had a lot of sympathy towards Lilly, until she blew Carley away.

I didn't leave Lilly because I liked Carley; I abandoned her because she was mentally unstable and could not be around those kids. Not only that, but she killed Carley right in front of Clementine.

If you keep Lilly with your group (regardless of if she stole the RV or not), what if she started thinking that it was Clementine trading the supplies and killed her while she was at it? Or Duck (whether or not he was bitten)? Or Katjaa?

Sure, you could keep her tied up all the time, but as seen where she stole the RV, she could easily break loose.

I base my choices on protecting the kids, and leaving Lilly behind is actually protecting them from her.
  • You sound like katjaa

I can't just forgive the Doug/Carley fiasco. Stress or depression doesn't justify murder. Before that, I actually liked her. She was kind of a control freak, but her heart was in the right place and she did have a softer side. I don't hate her and I guess I could take her being in the group (considering she's pretty useful), but I'll never just forget what she did.

Honestly and in spite of all, now that Kenny is in the group, I WANT her to show up. It would be pretty interesting to see their reaction. Most importantly, they both have dirt on each other (Lilly's dirt is worse, though), so I wonder if they would grudgingly make a truce or sell each other out (maybe Clem gets a say in this).
  • The point with 'rash decisions' like the topicstarter said, the killing doug or carley one wasn't justified, and when you are like that in the apocalypse, you're not going to have a group. I think she had it coming, I wish I could've had the option to shoot her. Not that I would with Clem watching, but still the option would be nice. I didn't like her all that much myself as you can see.
  • Who knows, maybe she's also 'real lucky'?
