Why do I care about Clementine so much?

I know this is a strange place to post this, but... I am completely obsessed with how awesome this little girl is. It's starting to worry me, TBH - I'm a fairly apathetic person, but I immediately defend The Walking Dead Game whenever it comes up on the losing side of a discussion with my friends. I feel I'm not alone here.

So out of curiosity, who here:

  • Has GIGABYTES of Clementine fan art saved on their phone/computer?
  • Has a Walking Dead Game Background?
  • Listens to the music in the trailers for upcoming episodes on repeat?
  • Paused the game for half an hour before deciding whether or not to have her shoot Lee?
  • Has over SIX completed, saved games (I have 3 on my iPhone, 3 on my PC, and 2 on my iPad)?
  • Has seriously considered (or even was successful in the endeavor of) creating a 'For Clementine' T shirt?
  • Owns the hat?
  • Subconsciously (or consciously) wrote a verse about her in a song?
  • Writes fiction, poetry and collaborative works about TWDG universe and characters?
  • Gets legitimately upset when you run into Clem Rule 34?
  • Cares about Clementine more than ANY character in ANY media ever?

We have our differences in opinion about a lot of things. A LOT. But I think this is something me and a few other people here could have in common.

So... Am I over-the-top, or is this obsession okay? Needless to say, this isn't something an 18-year-old boy is expected to be enthralled with.

    • Has seriously considered (or even was successful in the endeavor of) creating a 'For Clementine' T shirt? Considered, but not strongly
    • Owns the hat? Nope...regrettably

    • Writes fiction, poetry and collaborative works about TWDG universe and characters? Yep and Yep
    • Gets legitimately upset when you run into Clem Rule 34? Nope, although I'm not exactly thrilled when that happens
    • Cares about Clementine more than ANY character in ANY media ever? Probably, yeah

    Yeah, you're obsessed, alright. Probably moreso than 90% of the people on this site. That being said, there are far worse things to be obsessed about than one of the most well-written video game characters of all time.

    When we got the first screenshot/still of S2, she was my phone's lock screen picture for over a month. I do have a Walking Dead Game background (of Clementine and Luke on the bridge). I love the music from the trailers a lot. I knew right away that I wanted her to shoot Lee, but I still had to pause for a few minutes to cry. I have 3 save files on my phone, the only place I play TWDG. I own a hat and it's fabulous as hell. I have written a few TWDG fanfics and seeing Clem in that Rule 34 shit gets my blood boiling. I can honestly say that Clementine is my favorite character in the entire Walking Dead franchise, and my favorite video game character of all time. Or at least, in the top 5. In general, she's in my top 5 characters of any media. :)

    All of the above accept 1(Iv'e got TWD fanart in general saved but not much) 8(never wrote a song about anything and don't plan to) 9(do dreams and daydreams count?) and 10(never been unlucky enough to see it but it PISSES ME THE LIVING FUCKING SHIT OFF WHEN I HEAR ABOUT IT THOSE PEOPLE SHOULD BE BRUTALLY MURDERED!!!!!)

    Not sure about all of these, but she's definitely my favorite video game character, possibly my favorite in any form of media. Definitely, the first one that I felt any connection to.

    I only fall in line with having a TWD wallpaper. It is a quote of Walter quoting Steinbeck, over some of JakeSt's beautiful artwork. No other ones, though. I came close to caring more about Clem than any other character in any media, but Jesse Pinkman wins that. The closest TWD character was Nick.

    I'm the same way. I don't know why but from the start I had a connection to her. She reminds me of a slightly smarter version of me when I was younger. Of course, she's a lot more adorable as well.

    I have tons of Walking Dead pictures and fan art saved on my tablet, which I use to browse this and other forums while in bed, and I watch the "Carver" trailer at least once a day (it's just too awesome) and will probably watch the trailer for "In Harm's Way" countless times too. I often fantasize about a real ZA and about adopting a little girl (like Clem) and the things I would do to keep her safe. Some of these thoughts are pretty extreme, but that's what too much TWD has done to me. So no, you're not alone in your obsession.

    But to actually answer your question... rule 34 is basically a sexual version of whatever (cartoons, comics, tv shows, you name it) so it's basically "fan-made" porn. I say fan-made but I honestly doubt they are fans of the game, they probably just want to fuck with people, and it really does mess with people...

    I have no idea why, but I care about her, too. My background for my phone is her putting a scarf around Lee (for my CPU I have a picture of her climbing the watchtower at the lodge), I get extremely upset when people go onto Rule 34 searching for pictures for her (or any child in that matter), I'm trying to write a Walking Dead parody song for Youtube and she's in it a lot, if anyone checks the "Create your own TWD Story or Fanfic" thread they can see my stories in the comments, I paused and thought about killing or letting Lee live for hours (I ultimately went with telling her to leave, I couldn't make her kill Lee), and she is my favorite fictional character ever (with Sgt. Johnson from Halo right behind her). So, yeah, I guess you could say I care about her.

    I don't know, but I loved her from the beggining. This game has some of the most real characters I've ever seen.
