Season 2: Is there or could there be a "Mole" In Clems group?

It seems like someone might have been tipping off Carver to wherever they went.....

  • The only possibilty would be Nick or Luke.. and seeing as Luke runs off, if there was a mole i would say Luke
  • Yeah. Luke, he's the only one who hasn't interacted with Carver at all (this Season)

I could imagine him already being at Camp and it turns out he's a traitor

Why did Carver ask where he is, then? If Luke was a mole, he wouldn't have ran off.

  • Maybe he wants to take care of the traitor. Even if you're a semi-coocoo for cocoa puffs control freak like Carver, you still would not want a traitorous little shit to be near your own team. The one thing worse than an enemy is a traitor.

  • I Was thinking Luke also but maybe Sarah pulled a Clementine and called Carver! lol

  • Maybe he felt guilty? And if I was Carver and Luke was working for me so to speak.... I'd like to keep that a secret.

  • What a plot twist...so could Luke be the reason why Carver could track the group with ease?

  • That is exactly what I was thinking. I am still kinda' "Iffy" about Sarah!

  • It is really strange that Luke is the mole. From what we know from the game, it is said that Luke is the one who suggest that they should leave Carver's camp. Why would he lead them out of the camp only to betray them? An argument would be that he regret his decision and went off to contact Carver.
  • It does sound like a decent plot twist, as in nobody would've seen this coming. But it also means there is a chance Luke would feel too guilty about what he's done and will try to set things right by killing Carver or help the group escape the camp. Let's just say that would feel a little too cliche...

  • I don't think it's anyone. Carver's probably been stalking them ever since he visited the cabin while Clem and Sarah were alone and realized the cabin group had been staying there. When Carlos and everybody else got back from finding Alvin and Luke, he might've been watching them from outside. It's likely how he managed to only be half a day behind them while they were traveling.

If there was a mole, surely he would've captured the group earlier.
  • I'm sure Carver could turn Sarah into a mole through manipulation. Wouldn't be hard. The girl's got the mental fortitude of a wet napkin.

When I heard "Mole" I thought it in the literal sense for a sec.

But no, I don't think so. I think everyone in the group are on the same side. Their past is still very, very vague though so I'm not 100% sure myself.
  • YES! LOL...And Clem basically did the same thing in Season 1. I don't trust Sarah for some reason :P

Yeah. Luke, he's the only one who hasn't interacted with Carver at all (this Season) I could imagine him already being at Camp and it turns out he's a traitor

  • Traitors are rarely trusted even with the group they were really working with. Once a traitor, always a traitor. Benedict Arnold betrayed the US for money and moved to England because the Americans wanted his head on a pike. The English barely tolerated him making his life rather miserable. If Luke's the traitor, he won't be trusted in either group because if he turned traitor once, he can do it again. Even if a traitor is somewhat trusted again, they're still watched like a hawk.

Possible Luke is two timing both the cabin group and Carver's and is working with a third group we'll see either toward the end of episode 3 or in episode 4. In such a case, it would make him even less trustworthy. Also begs the question how Nick, his own best friend, was unaware of where Luke's loyalties really lay. Nick may not be the most observant guy, but you'd think he'd pick up on shifts in his friend's personality and loyalty. You can't know a person for years and years and not notice that. Even with a zombie apocalypse, you'd think he'd notice more than just the stress eating at Luke. If not Nick, then you think Pete might have picked up on it. So either Luke is a REALLY good actor ... or we're over thinking this and he just ran off to cool off from arguing with Kenny and happened to miss Carver. Convenient storytelling, but truth is often stranger than fiction. Look at videos of people just barely missing getting hit by cars, etc. Luke could have just been insanely lucky that he chose to argue with Kenny in that moment and walk off.

Although begs the question why Clem saw lights across the bridge that turned away from the bridge only for Bonny to pop up at the lodge not long after. But Luke was with the group still at this point so Luke couldn't have told Bonny where they were ... unless someone was leaving signs along the path they had walked to get to the lodge. I honestly think Carver just told Bonny to check out the lodge on her own (who'd think an emaciated woman would look threatening?) as he circled around and crossed another bridge further down. Luke might have saw Bonny while Clem, Walter, and Kenny were outside and started to think of a reason to take off hence arguing with Kenny later. Also the possibility the lights that Clem saw across the bridge wasn't Carver's group but the group that slaughtered the one at the river. We still don't know if that was Carver or someone else. We have the cabin group's speculation, but assumptions aren't always right.

Not always the best idea to accuse unless you know all of the facts. If everyone did that, we'd have one crappy justice system. Even forming a conclusion before you get all the facts can bias you once you do and you see connections that aren't really there making you form the wrong judgement. Better to look at what we know and base facts off that and not wild speculation. Luke's innocent until proven guilty, and currently there's not enough evidence to prove either.

Maybe he felt guilty? And if I was Carver and Luke was working for me so to speak.... I'd like to keep that a secret.

  • How do you know Luke led them out of Camp in the first place?

Also, he could have been working for Carver the whole time since the group escaped, and only pretended to be with them.

It happened in the comic series once, why not in the game?

Why would Luke lead them out of them camp only to try and bring them back?

  • Because Carver tells the group if they would've never followed him (Luke), that they wouldn't be in this mess.

    It was Sam

And his inside man, Juice Box, who now controls Clem to his bidding.
  • I wasn't really fond of the idea that Luke works for Carver either. I was just pointing out there was a possibility Carver might have kept it a secret in front of the group for the purpose of using him later. It's not so far fetched when you think about it. Even if Carver wouldn't trust him, I'd say he still would've tried to use him again should the opportunity present itself.

I agree with everything you said, especially that Nick or Pete would've noticed Luke was acting differently and as of right now, nothing that Luke has done proves otherwise. Aside maybe his disappearance which I'm thinking it's one of the reasons people made similar theories about him.

  • Luke is not the type, I mean, he wouldn't tell us why Carver was after the group, why would he just trick them all like that? Plus the groups safety is his primary concern, especially Nick. And if he had been tipping Carver off, Carver would have said, 'Hey, your buddy Luke helped me out here, take that suckers'.
  • I don't think anyone from the cabin group is secretly working with Carver, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of this happening in a future episode with an existing or new character. If they escape Carver's camp and he's still after them.
  • I don't know, how could the mole communicate with Carver ?
But I hope that nobody was a mole.
  • Clem used a walkie talkie...

I don't know, how could the mole communicate with Carver ? But I hope that nobody was a mole.

  • Yeah, fair enough, Carver indicates that (pretty clearly)

    I guess we'll find out...soon ;)

Because Carver tells the group if they would've never followed him (Luke), that they wouldn't be in this mess.

  • It'll most likely be Luke.Nick wouldn't do it cuz he couldn't live with himself and the cabin group is the only family he has left.Alvin wouldn't do it because of Rebecca and the baby and Carlos wouldn't do it because of Sarah.
  • Before this Season came out there was this theme of "trust" and here and there it's been sprinkled through the episodes of "who to trust?". When the first screenshots came out we got one of what looked like Clem and Kenny sitting at the table which infact was concept version of Luke. It really seems like they are trying to make Luke the new Lee and trying to make you choose sides between Luke and Kenny. I think there is more to him then meets the eye.
  • Damn, thanks, I forgot about that.
But I still hope that nobody was a mole.
