What would you do in this Hypathetical situation: Clem and Sarah among the walkers

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
Playing as Clem after caking Sarah and yourself in walker gunk to mask yourself among the walkers Sarah looks like she already is about to freak out. Clementine tells Sarah "Close your eyes. We're going to make our way around to the other side of the mini mall where we'll meet Kenny. Ill guide you just hold my hand and don't look." As the player you guide Sarah through the walkers making your way to the other side of the complex careful not to bump into any of the walkers wandering about. Clem whispers to Sarah "Its just around the corner." As they get closer and closer a walker seems to have caught on to their guise and starts flowing them reaching for them. Clem tells Sarah to "stay still" and lets go of her hand to handle the walker. Sarah calls out in worried whispers to Clem as Clem handles the walker. After the walker hits the ground Sarah opens her eye's to the site of the dead walker and starts to freak out yelling and screaming. Clem looks around seeing that Sarah is starting to draw attention. Sarah falls to her knees in horror. As the player you can choose to drag her along as she screams but the borders of the screen start to get redder and redder Indicating a near death scene for Clem.

What would you do? Do you let Sarah go and run to not risk the death screen or do you keep dragging her seeing if you can save her?

Edit: If you save Sarah Clem will get some fingers bit off after trying to push a walker away to make things more interesting. The infected nubs will be cut off once they're safe. Losing fingers may effect Clem later on in the story. (Just act like you didn't know this would happen lol)

  • I would probably keep pushing the button to drag her as long as I saw it as an option on the screen. If it disappeared, I might let go, I'm not sure.

If it were an actual choice, I'd try and take her along. I know I've said my first priority is to keep Clem safe, but in the spur of the moment I usually make the 'good' decisions, because my own set of morals kind of line up with my Clem's in that respect - I can't leave a friend behind (like I couldn't leave Nick when he wanted me to.)

I'll would try to save her, but is Clem's death canon, or is a game over and I have to try again?
  • I doubt in this scenario it's canon

    I'd keep dragging her.

When I played Lee, I sort of ran off a policy of never leaving people behind unless they needed to be, like Lilly. I like to think Clem works like that too. In a way that would make Lee proud.
  • Edit: To make it more interesting if you try to save her Clem's fingers will be bit off on her left hand. The infected nubs will be cut off though so she Doesn't turn.

  • Nope, Sarah ain't worth it, swore to myself at the end of S1 that I was playing S2 Clem before everyone. I can't stand seeing Clem get hurt, not enough room left on my punching bag.
  • nope i think Sarah going to freak out at first but once she sobers to the situation she's going to handle it pretty well considering her in-experience. the initial freaking out, and Clem saving her like a boss will most likely be the chevo situation.
  • I play the game super-immersed and treat every situation like it could kill me so I'd leave her behind. I'd feel bad about it but Clem comes first.
  • I think I'd save her. I personally hate letting people die in my stories and try to keep everyone alive. Plus, it'd be kind of cool to see how you would deal with amputation as Clem. (The hard part to watch would be the cauterization, though, since you can't really tourniquet finger nubs.)
  • I'd save Sarah, i wouldn't leave a kid behind to be eaten alive. But if at the heat of the moment i knew Clem would get bit if i did that, i would leave Sarah.
  • No one gets left behind. It's kind of a policy I've had since 400 Days. In Season 1 proper, I left Lilly behind and dropped Ben, but once 400 Days rolled around I really couldn't do that anymore. I dragged the cop with me during Wyatt's story (I got out of the car the first time), helped Christa in ATR, took every option to get Pete to come with me during the beginning of AHD, etc. So if the pattern holds, I'd probably drag Sarah out of there by her hair or something.
  • I seriously doubt that you'd lose a few fingers. I think it's like a Ben choice in Episode 4 Season 1. You either drop him, or you lift him up. You either stop dragging Sarah, or lift her up.

  • Leave Sarah for Carlos to save her.
