African American as the art director, I believe, has stated. It's why it actually makes sense for some characters to think she's Lee's daughter.

She definitely looks mixed with something. I actually thought she looked descended from some sort of Spanish/Italian at first.

  • I noticed that too! She looked like an innocent little child again, she shouldn't have to be smashed in the face to let her true childlike emotions out

that last one is right when lee told her he was bit.. and ya I feel so bad for her and in the first photo she looked so scared and l

  • ya, sadly that's what her life has come to... :(

  • Hm yes, another thread regarding Clementine's nationality. I agree how irritating it is to see this topic being brought up again and again (similar to Cluke, Nuke, Clementine's religion and her surname and Kenny hate).

Oh hey it's this thread AGAIN

  • That's Easy !! It's Moroccan , Like me !!
  • She's a pale-skinned African American.
  • Why there would be any doubt she is indeed american citizen?
  • Her dad looks African American, and her mother looks 3/4 American, and 1/4 Asian.

As sad as this might sound, I do remember hearing that they designed her to look as mixed race as possible in order to have people of every race empathize and care for her. Judging by how popular she is, I'd say they succeeded. I myself believe she is completely African-American, just lighter skinned because her mom had that skin tone.
  • She's from ponyvile!

American citizen with a slight asian background

  • American

As for ethnicity, my best guess is Arab or Arab/African American background.
  • I'm pretty sure she is American
  • I think she is bi-racial

Maybe, but Arabs often have a similar skin tone. Also, her facial features seem closer to that than either black or white.

  • Nationality? American. Race? I don't see why it matters, but she's confirmed to be the same race as Lee, so that it would be 'believable' that strangers would think they were father and daughter.
  • ikr, I'm sure she's an illegal immigrant living in a big house with two parents with good jobs.

Why there would be any doubt she is indeed american citizen?

That is correct. See the first page of the thread for the link to the article about the creation of Clementine. Since this question has been answered, I'm going to close this topic now.
