Jumping the gun on Troy

I'm sorry if this thread has been done before, but don't you think that we're jumping the gun on Troy? Sure he hit Clementine, (which I initially hated him for when I first saw that part of the trailer) but we don't know the context of it. My advice is that we take the episode 3's trailer with a grain of salt since the trailer is only supposed to hype the episode not spoil it. We don't know the whole story and we shouldn't be so quick to judge his character based off a 5 second clip.

Telltale are better than making a one dimensional child abusing douche. I'm sure they want you to think that Troy is a dick, but then surprise you that he isn't a total tool.

There is so much that we don't know. I'm not saying what Troy did to Clementine wasn't wrong, but I hate to see people being so judgmental of his character since we know next to nothing about him. "He hit Clem, so I want him DEAD" is a bit extreme, don't you think? I'm sure that Troy will be a complex character where he hit Clem, (which is bad) but by doing so he saved her from a much worse fate than getting hit with the butt of an AK-47 (which is good).

All I'm saying is how about we reserve the death threats and #FuckTroy until after we play the episode?

    I will say this again..

he didn't have a reason to do what he did.
she wasn't coming at him with a knife or anything, she was running PAST him.

if she were about to kill him I would understand if he hit her like that in self defense, but she wasn't a treat to him at the moment.
all he needed to do was push or trip her so she falls and that's that.
he didn't need to do what he did, not under the circumstances he was in

    this is what I think
  • im not trying to be mean or anything, ya I know people have the right to say their opinions an thoughts but I think they should post them on the other threads already made about troy.

I'm not saying what he did was right nor was I advocating #GoodGuyTroy. I was simply stating that we don't know why he hit her.

A hypothetical is that she could have been running towards Carver beating Kenny and Troy stopped her from getting involved (which he could have definitely handled better I admit). Carver was probably trying to set an example to the others about revolting against him again by beating Kenny since Kenny is the most rebellious out of everyone. Could you imagine what Carver might have done to Clem if she hindered his example making? Carver rules with an iron fist which means that he can't look weak in front of anyone and might have shown Clem no mercy since she was going against him. Remember what happened last time when Clem tried to interfere with Carver's actions? We're talking about a man who has no qualms about hitting a little girl with the butt of his revolver and putting a gun to her head. I'm willing to bet that if Kenny didn't give up then he would've shot her in the head and continued his rampage. Who knows, maybe Troy might redeem himself to Clem later in the episode.

  • Well, what if Troy was pretending the AK to be a guitar and Clem was running in the way

  • The most logical explanation to this is instilling fear for obedience. Yea Troy could of grabbed Clem instead of hitting her, but Carver's camp seems to be running because of fear. Hurting someone physically makes them think twice about breaking the rules. I don't condone hitting people but in this type of scenario they are using it to maintain their rules and prevent future outbursts.
  • By the way it looks, people are fed up with it since we see some characters from the camp helping Clem escape.

  • Well think of it like this, you go to pick up your son/daughter etc... from school and right when you walk through the gate you see someone slap them across the face. What's your initial reaction? Of course it's irrational. We'll just have to wait and see.
  • This has officially become the Troytell forums.
  • It's 100% a knee-jerk response from the community, but I'm not at all surprised over this hate since the trailer came out. I believe there's no justification for him hitting her. He seems pretty loyal to Carver, but if Carver starts to lose it perhaps Troy will redeem himself by the end of the episode or even aid their escape! Only 2 more days of these threads until we'll know for sure, either way.
