its not like clem was running towards him with a butcher knife about to stab him. she was running PAST him.
all he needed to do was push her aside so she falls to the ground and that's that. I didn't see the need for him to do what he did.
not under the circumstances he was in.
"We know nothing about Troy." Yeah. Um. That's why it's so easy for people to hate him. We know nothing about him and therefore have no reas… moreon to sympathize.
I won't deny that he could shape up to be an interesting and complex character, but once you hit a little girl, you stand no chance of getting sympathy from me.
Although I don't wish for Clem to get beat up or something worse happening to her, I understand that its TWD and anything can happen.
Yeah, I loved the old Clem, but, I love the new Clem just as much. She is definitely more badass and is growing up so fast. No longer can she be wrapped in cotton wool and expect other people to always look after her. The world of TWD is not forgiving and doesn't have favourites as to who stays alive.
a, it depends on the circumstances, like I said in a comment above:
"its not like clem was running towards him with a butcher knife about to stab him. she was running PAST him.

> " When people point out Clem became less likable because some of her lines are way too cold and don't fit her character, they get a shit ton of people telling them they suck and that badass clem is best Clem."
The best Clem is what you want her to be. She's the protagonist, you're her. Some people like "sassy Clem", some like a more mild, S1 alike Clem. Both are fine, it's *your* game. There are some predefined characteristics, but it's *you* who decide what's in character or not. There's an argument to be made in that they have limited the RP options for a milder Clementine, and that her default outlook this season has been more stoic, or cold, but that's another train of thought.
> "I seriously hope some of the hardcore Clem fans never become parents, because the way they are probably going to spoil their own kid will totally lead to it becoming a COARL or worse. "
I seriously doubt I'd appreciate someone beating down my kid like that. :P
I don't *like* seeing her being hurt because I have an emotional attachment to her character. For now, without any context to back up his actions, and considering that I care about Clem, **I do not like what he did.** Simple. However, Clementine is the protagonist. She is supposed to go through things like that, especially considering what IP this is. She is not invincible, she can be hurt and possibly even killed, and from a story standpoint I'm totally ok with that. Do I outright hate the character? No, because I do not know him.
OMG people seriously? Come on we all love Clem but she's not the only kid who got beat down. This is a ZA and just like Walter told her '' T… morehis world is more political than before,'' Which means nobody cares if your a child or not. Game Of Thrones has children getting beat down and killed constantly on that show, so how is Clem getting beat down any different?
Plus the only reason Clem has a sassy attitude is because of Christa. Whatever Christa taught Clem during the 16 months influences her behavior. Christa made a tough Clem. And after Omid's death that's when Christa expected Clem to become more tough and survive.
Good post. Well said.
Although I don't wish for Clem to get beat up or something worse happening to her, I understand that its TWD and… more anything can happen.

I basically agreed with everything you just said, and as a warning, don't go to any links that the guy above me posts.
Edit: I mean the… more guy above the guy above me. We posted at the same time apparently.
Just to be clear, the guy called "SilenceIsAnOption" with Slenderman as his profile pic.
"I seriously hope some of the hardcore Clem fans never become parents, "
Woah, so it's okay to hit little girl, right?
You're basically saying that hitting clementine by Troy was good.
I seriously hope you never become parent.

Leaving the fact aside that I never implied that hitting children is good, who ever said I wanted to be a parent in the first place? I can't stand children and thus realize I should not have one. Fuck me, right?

Larry punched Lee and left him to get eaten, which is MUCH worse than getting hit with a rifle. People were crying out for his blood, yet most people tried to save him, even AFTER HE TRIED TO KILL LEE.
Rebecca was despised before episode 2, but now look at her. Most people felt really regretful over blackmailing her.
"It's not acceptable to hit a child". Yeah, but neither is it acceptable to try to kill a man who saved your life. Neither is it acceptable to almost shoot a child. Guilty King is right - you guys ARE hypocrites.
Troy won't be as hated as he is now, and I am willing to bet real money on that.
Clementine is one of those characters you end up getting really attached to, so of course people are going to feel angry towards characters that hurt her. You're right, we know nothing about Troy - but first impressions count, and that first impression had child abuse written all over it. I knew Clem was going to eventually suffer beatings and shit, it is the apocalypse after all. So therefore as a result, people are going to hate the characters who done it even if it did only happen in the trailer. At the moment, I simply see Troy as one of Carver's men who struck a little girl in the face with the butt of a heavy ass gun. He could turn out to be an interesting character with regrets, but until then, I see no reason to sympathize with him.

Hmm... You definitely got me thinking now. I feel like I'm Lee listening to you who's Chuck. I realized I forgotten his wise words.
This episode is Telltale's way of saying you're gonna have to accept she's gonna get hurt. And I was a bit rash on Troy. I'll give him till the end of Ep3 or the rest of the season..
I agree that a badass does in fact need to get hurt every once in a while, or else they would be unrealistic if the were untouchable. A badass must be both tough and be capable of getting hurt yet get back up.
But here's were my morals gets in the way when I want to accept her as a badass. This moral is that I don't believe in a adult beating up a child. It's abusive and wrong. ESPECIALLY if it's with a weapon. I should know, my father used to do that with my brother when he was a kid, and the same thing happened to my dad when he was kid.
But I was spoiled when Dad changed and my siblings took care of me, yet look at me. I'm still descent even if I do have flaws. I'm pretty sure I'll be a good parent anyway.
I'm gonna need to think of which side I will pick. I'll wait till I play Ep3 to discover my decision. Hopefully. Anyway, I hope you understand my dilemma GuiltyKing.
I agree with most of what's said, I've never understood why people were willing to get so mad over a trailer.
Also, consider the possibility of it being determinant, maybe Troy only prods Clem if the player chooses to run.
We also (Again) don't know the context of the scene.
(Before the white knights get upset, I'm not defending his actions. Merely stating we should wait before assuming Troy is a child smacker. Hell, we don't even know if this'll be in the final version (It likely will be) )
I agree with OP. Clementine is not just a "child." Just ask Winston what he thinks about calling her that, or Campman, or probably Carver (and Troy) after this episode... She is small and not as dangerous as a fully grown adult, but to underestimate her and act like you don't have to go all out against her is a mistake.
OP is right about taking things in context, and in the context of what we've seen in the trailer, Clementine is probably up to some sabotage and engineering a daring escape. Those types of things are a threat to everybody in Carver's compound, and it is understandable that they would take harsh measures to ensure their safety, even if they are bad people. They are fighting to survive too, and this "little girl" is tougher than most of the adults (as Pete noted several times).
If I was part of Carver's group and saw Clementine making a run for it, or about to get away and inflict some mischief on our "secure" haven, I'd do whatever it takes to stop her too (maybe even kill her). I get why people feel defensive for Clementine, because we love her and root for her and want her to succeed... But, I think it cheapens how clever and menacing she can be when we overreact and act like other characters can't dare treat her poorly.
I bet Winston wishes he could go back and just shoot her instead of trying to grab her, and Campman probably regretted turning his back (and attn) away from sweet Clem. The bad people who treat her like a "kid" die. Which only goes to show that Troy might be one of the few characters so far who doesn't totally misjudge her (Carver also kept his guard up during the cabin sequence, seen if you try for the knife).
im a troy hater, and I can say that im not going to say that... the person who made this thread makes PERFECT sense.
sometimes a badass has to take a hit.
lol I love how quickly everyone changes opinions!
First there were a MILLION fuck Troy threads.
And Now I'm seeing threads telling people to lay off Troy til we actually see the episode.
The OP was right about Hypocrisy....
I think shaun putting clementine getting hit by troy intentional. He'd knew we would all react and that, that shit would get us gossiping and talking.
Like seriously, who the fuck cares if we have are torches and pitch forks ready, we will see his "true good" side if he had one or w/e. This is actually good, since we have less shitty threads about poor assumptions or just useless ones.
The forum isn't hypocritical, the forum is just idiotic.
Side note: also please notice that the people who got their panty's all wet are the noobs rather than the people who've been here for awhile, instead of targeting the forum as a whole - target the noobs.

you don't know what happened in the 16 months.
maybe a lot of shmit went down to make her like that. now one knows.
