Reggie (SPOILERS)

In my opinion, Reggie was very poorly voiced. And when he was pushed off the roof, I really didn't care because he was only around for like 20 minutes, which is not nearly enough time for me to actually care about him. It seems like he only existed for us to have another reason to hate Carver, at least in my opinion.

  • Yeah Reggie was actually really annoying
  • I don't think the VA was that bad, I do agree however that he's sort of a plot device.
  • I dunno, I feel it was pretty bad. VO seemed to have tried a little too hard.

  • He was definitely poorly voiced. For sure. But I did like him...
  • He didn't flow. I can't really describe it but he felt like something to explain a plot in a really bad horror movie. One of those scenes where they sit in a room and a scientist guy explains it but because it's low budget you tell he's just read the script. That's Reggie.

No he wasn't poorly voiced. It's was more uneven.

I had no problem with the portrayal of his character, but I wasn't surprised or particularly sorry when what happened happened. I thought he should have been demoted to laborer, but overall, I didn't have huge sympathy.

Btw, you should put a spoiler tab on this (even though it's in the title...just to be uber safe) I played it on steam; that was after Telltale download, but still whatever console players there are...)
  • he seemed like a coward to me, who only cares about whatever pleases Carver in order to be let out of the "prison" they all live in.
  • Yeah he was just another supporting character but I wish that TellTale would have done more with his character so we could at least feel something when he died.
  • Reggie played a very important part of the story in my option whether you believe it or not until now clem had no idea that someone could survive a walker bite yeah we knew but clem did not she through that you die no matter what sure Pete said a friend of his got bite and lived but clem had it in her mind because of lee (yes it is a matter of your play style if lee lose his arm or not but for this case make an exception) and it even comes into play with Sarita at the end with whether to cut her arm off. but yeah Its just my thoughts on Reggie and his character.
  • Exactly. He was nothing but a plot device. I'm not denying his importance, my point is that he has bad uneven voice acting and I wasn't too concerned about him dying.

I would have liked it better if he was determinant. If you Remember correctly Nick has very little effect in this episode at all. Theres nothing to him.
Im pretty sure Clem does not even directly talk to him unless you say hi to him near the bed when hes resting. He also has like literally no voice parts in this episode. I still need to play with him and alvin dead..... Anyway I would have kept Reggie. Hes not bad. Nick is useless.
  • I had trouble disassociating the voice actor from the character as I watched an IGN interview with him, Kumail Nanjiani. I don't know if that was the reason or not, but Reggie more often than not took me out of the atmosphere, it didn't sound right. I'm not sure if it was the sound mixing or the actor but everyone else was solid, so I guess it was him. Considering all of that, I still like him and was surprised to see him die so soon.

I admit, he didn't have the best VO. It wasn't what I would call bad or game-braking, it was just not up there with the rest of the talent.

As for his role in the game, he wasn't a bad character but he was basically a walking plot device. He either could have sued a bit time with Clem before he was killed off, just to make the impact more great, or not be killed off at all. By the end of the episode, we had more then enough reason to hate Carver after all.

If you want to know the name of the voice actor his name is Kumail. He is a member of the indoor kids I am not that familiar with them but I think they review games and do podcast's and stuff. Anyway he's new to acting so am not surprise he did not give it he's all. So I can understand were your coming from, all just give him a pass this time he didn't do awful but he didn't do great ether.

  • i don't think he was poorly voiced, it was more like his lips didn't move the way he spoke or his voice didn't match how he looked
  • I liked him. Even if his voice didn't sound incredibly professional, it didn't need to. The point of his character was that he was awkward and lacking in the survival skills the others have. That's why he was killed so early by Carver, a man who had zero tolerance for any amount of incompetence.
  • Same here. I've been watching Silicon Valley on HBO and I could only think of Dinesh every time he was talking. I think the sound mixing may have been a little off too, his voice seemed just a little loud. Should have softened it a bit.

  • I also thought he was a good character. I wish he'd stuck around for Episode 4.

Have you ever played a mod for a game where the modder added in his or her own voiced lines, which are so different from all the other voiced lines in the game in quality of acting, dialogue and sound that it breaks your immersion?

That was Reggie in a nutshell for me.
  • Took the words right out of my mouth.

Every time I start liking a new character they kill them off leaving me with characters I don't care for. I didn't mind Reggie's voice acting and his quirky personality started growing on me so I was sadden by his early death. Unlike Carlos where him and I never got close and I think the only time he talked to me directly was to watch his daughter. The Only people from the group that I feel close to is Kenny, Luke and Bonnie. I need more one on one time with the rest.
  • I thought Reggie was poorly voiced too. I wish he could have stayed around longer though
  • I agree.

  • When I first met Reggie in game, I was sort of feeling like, "Okay, these line readings aren't the most natural sounding." But as I listened to him more and got used to his character, I started to feel like maybe that's just how Reggie is supposed to talk, if you know what I mean. I liked that it was difficult to get a read on him. I kept trying to judge how quickly he would sell me out. How nice should I allow myself to be to him. I mean, he seemed kind of like a screw-up based upon his actions, and he sounded awkward.

I both liked him and disliked him simultaneously, if that makes any sense. There was something charming about him, but also something that made me feel like I didn't want to be his friend.

I found him to be pretty interesting, to be honest.
  • When Reggie died, I was more concerned for Clem's group than anything else. Wasn't really affected by the death itself, or felt bad about it, and was more worried about what Carver was capable of.
  • He was kinda annoying.

I had trouble with this too, I listen to the Indoor Kids regularly so I just could not not hear Kumail the whole time. Didn't help that his acting was pretty stilted as well.
