Season 3 concerns...

So first off we don't even know if there will be a season 3 but I hope soo much that there is. And if there is...my concern is will we play as Clementine? Its too early to answer because we don't exactly know Clems fate right now or whatever but I really LOVE playing as Clem....I wanna continue to play as her. Its awesome

  • I say this every time... if Clem dies, then you might as well throw season 1 out the window. Besides it was based around her from the start.
  • Yeah and I wouldn't be able to cope with her death....gosh just the thought is awful

  • I know that would be awful... I am not saying she is invincible, but if you kill her, who would be able to fill in the role?

  • We should be able to play as Clem in season 3, but season 4 we should get new characters.
  • Well, we just have to wait. If Clem doesn't die in Episode 5, then we're obviously going to play as her in Season 3, if there is one. But I'm pretty damn sure there will be a Season 3.
  • Yeah. I also think that Clem this age is perfect.

  • if they do a season three they need to have clem. THEY HAVE TO!!!! NO OTHER MAIN. the only way I can even think of playing with another character is if they let you play both, Clementine and the new character. I mean that be a cool Idea, its something new. and you don't have to keep changing stories to play the other character, just make certain times in the game where you get to play the characters at certain moments. I don't know but I just Want Clem alive, it would be too much of a waste to put us through such emotions we never felt in other games.

Agree, we should be able to playing as her as she grows up

Come on guys she's gonna grow up whether you want her to or not

but after a while I want her to grow up you know...

  • I know but its something new. they need this franchise. and like I said I don't give a fuck if they don't put a new character that we can play along with clem. I just want to play Clem's story

    This ain't GTA!!! :D

  • I do think we will get a season 3 and the more and more episodes that pass by only makes me believe more and more we'll play as Clem.
  • Because, if Clem is still alive, why would we play as someone else? :P

  • Like i said in another thread:

Take Season 2, now take Clementine out of it. The bathroom scene with Omid never happened and the episode starts with a new 15 year old protagonist and his/her caretaker at the campfire. From this point on everything in the story is exactly the same. Get bit, break in cabin, fix arm. Go to ski lodge, never meet Kenny, get caught by Carver. Do all the stuff you did in episode 3. Just by taking Clementine out, doesn't that story just seem incredibly boring to you? I don't see how i would get invested in this Season if it wasn't for Clem.

Now looking at the drop of quality this season i seriously doubt they will ever be able to come up with something that can succeed Clementine. Vanaman once said something like "If Clementine doesn't work, the game falls apart. If i knew back then how hard this would be then i would have probably never worked on it"

    TL;DR : Clem = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  • Telltale has had multiple characters in their games before.

    This ain't GTA!!! :D

  • i liked a lot more playing as lee i like clementine but this should be a realistic game, clem isnt invincible, at some point she has to die, its apocalypse after all. and ofc clem fanboys would downvote me now
  • And those games surely won GOTY

  • I'm kinda have a hope and thinking locigally there would be 5 seasons. You know one season five epsiodes so totally 25 episodes + dlc. It's just my hope...
  • My gut feeling is if there is a Season 3, its unlikely Clem would be the protagonist. That doesnt mean she will die in the story, but my feeling is that the story will move away from her.

I really hope that we will continue to play as Clementine and see her grow up in this world. The whole first season was dedicated to her. The meaning of Lee's existance, the whole reason he survived and just happened to crash behind her house, was to help her survive. Without her, Lee's death is meaningless and would have been for nothing.

And I don't agree with the people who don't like Clementine growing up - that is the most important part of her character development. Not just growing up, but growing up in this world. It's changing her and slowly molding her into a true survivor.

I'm hoping Clementine is destined for something great - maybe even finding someone to protect, herself. And teach her/him to survive like Lee did. Otherwise Lee's death would seemed in vain.
  • we would probably continue with kenny maybe if she died and he lived

I know that would be awful... I am not saying she is invincible, but if you kill her, who would be able to fill in the role?

  • Killing Clementine in season two and making a season three would be the dumbest thing telltale could do. Like many have stated, the game is about Clementine. It's always been about Clementine. Some people say it's about Lee but it's not, Lee didn't want to go on without Clementine and almost every decision in season one had to do with Clementine one way or another. Not only would I cry three times as much if Clementine dies, but telltale just wouldn't be able to pull off another season without her. I don't know how many seasons there will be but lets just hope that they're good... AND that Clem will be alive in all of them, and hopefully it will end with her being alive, I dunno, I just don't want her to die.
  • I think it could end with her dying. Sure it would be sad as hell, but it could work - if she died for something important. It would have to be the last episode in my opinion, and her death would need to have meaning. Like Lee's.

Otherwise everything will have been for nothing.
What, Lee got bit and (possibly) got Clementine to shoot him and then Clem goes on to have the worst years of her life losing everybody she cares about and going through mental torture, only to to die in the end without any meaning to it? It would be the most depressing thing ever. Sure "life's not fair" but this is still entertainment and we as players need to feel that this has been worth out time, especially in such a story and character driven game as TWD.

  • I think an interesting angle would be to play as another character maybe like Lees age. Clementine will be a part of the group but she would be an adult by then.
  • Honestly? I think that Clementine will survive. She's very popular among the fans. Lee was too of course but don't forget that story in The Walking Dead from Telltale Games was always about Clementine. She was and still is the main focus of the storyline and I doubt that they'll kill her. At least not in season 2.

About the main topic of this thread... if Telltale will ever make season 3 I hope that we'll be able to play as Clementine again because I can't imagine playing as someone else. Not after Lee died and everything. :(
  • Definitely ... I would love to see a season 3 playing as Clementine... cannot really imagine a season 3 without her as the game has been centered ariound her from season 1 onwards
  • But then it'd be a copy of last season. I think it'd just be old to kill the main protagonist... again.

If it was the end of the series and it held some meaning... no I don't think so. I wouldn't want it for this season, absolutely.
But I think in the TWD world, everybody will go. It's just a matter of when and all you can do is make the time you have mean something. That's what the whole story is about in my opinion anyway.

  • The point stands that it's not a bad idea, and not an impossibility. I'm certain that if they did do that it wouldn't detract from the quality of the game.

  • Yeah, never thought about how the game would be if Clem was never in it. It's true that whenever I feel nervous while playing it's because I fear for Clementine's safety. Episode 3 really had me sweating and panicking nearly the whole time because I was incredibly afraid of Carver's ruthless behavior. He made it very clear that he wasn't afraid to hit Clementine when she replied to his comment about eavesdropping with "I know". He also threatened to hurt/kill her on several other occasions. But with Clementine out of the picture, I can't imagine caring very much at all. Of course, with how well written the episode was and how well portrayed Carver's character was, I'd still feel the pressure and the tension when lives were at stake under his violent shadow, but I felt remarkably, embarrassingly worried and anxious when Clementine was in danger. She really is the ticket to the series' success at this point.

Like i said in another thread: Take Season 2, now take Clementine out of it. The bathroom scene with Omid never happened and the episod

  • That's what I'm rooting for if Clementine is not the playable character of season 3. I would fucking love it if it started off completely disconnected from Clementine's story line and the player is introduced to a new cast like in 400 Days leading up to a fateful meeting with a developed Clementine and whatever people she may have with her. It would be amazing if the people she was with were determinant of your actions in season 2 and her behavior was determinant of everything she has been through in your Walking Dead history. I imagine it would be hard to program so many different factors into a mature Clementine's personality, but I think it could be done. She would just be the most incredible character, most likely saving the player's ass on several occasions and being either humble, indifferent, or proud about it depending on how you raised her in season 1 and played her in season 2. This is all very wishful thinking, though, I'm sure. If they don't involve Clementine in the next season, it probably won't do very well.

I think an interesting angle would be to play as another character maybe like Lees age. Clementine will be a part of the group but she would be an adult by then.

Really? Have we been playing the same game? Clem is the last person you should worry about, not only is Clem practically Lara croft this season mixed with a little Dutch and Rambo. She is the protagonist so you know she can't die before the end of the story because we are her. Not to mention that telltale will want to avoid season two becoming a rehash of season 1 so it's doubtful that they would kill the protagonist again. The funniest thing about season 2 is that we still end up with the caretaker role even though we are not playing as someone protecting Clem since we are Clem protecting Sarah. This being the case I am far more worried about her and the other NCPs than I am about Clem as they can die at any time during the remaining 2 episodes.

  • Yes, really. I don't think of The Walking Dead as a video game when I play it. I don't think, "This situation doesn't scare me because even if Clementine dies I'll just try it again until I get it right." I take it very seriously. I take every life and death situation as it is; a situation in which Clementine will live or die. I don't even try to get into this mindset, it's just how I think when I play The Walking Dead. You might think it's stupid, and I'm sure it is to most gamers, but I can't convince myself that it doesn't matter when Clementine is danger.

In a sense you're right. Everyone in TWD will die eventually but that doesn't mean the protagonist has to die at the end of each story arc. I just finished reading a 12 issue story arc with the biggest battle in TWD, to date and Rick is still alive as is his 9 year old son. They are not alive because they are super heroes or imortalised like a video game character*cough*, they are alive because of the stories pacing and the fact that they are not endangered in every scene. They have months of peace and time to recover from injuries.

You do realise that Clementine was almost cut from the original story don't you? What makes me laugh is how so many say that she was always meant to be the main character. Originally the story was about Lee looking after his little sister and they contemplated removing Clem all together which tells me Lee was very much the protagonist from the begining since his role of care taker never changed just his relationship. Lee was us and Clem was our moral compass. The reason Clem is the protagonist now is because they later decided to do a second season after committing to the decision to kill the lead. She is the protagonist because Lee is dead she wasn't intended to be from the point of conception as season two was not planned at the beginning and was an after thought.
