Do you like the idea of Clementine having a dream about Lee in Amid the Ruins?

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
Season 2 has been good so far, but I feel that it hasn't quite had the emotional punch of season 1. The most emotional parts for me have been all of the references Clementine makes toward Lee and the other events from season 1.

If done right I feel a dream sequence with Lee could pack one hell of an emotional punch. I would welcome this with open arms. Just seeing Lee again would bring back so many emotions and I'd say it would be a genius move by Telltale.

  • Everybody wants it (let's be honest), but TellTale had the perfect opportunity to in Episode Three, its the first episode of Season 2 where we actually see her go to sleep. I think they've missed their chance imo.
  • I've been asking for it for the longest time. I want this to happen so bad but it'll need lots and lots of work to make it work. If it's done with the same level of quality of Kenny's memory of Duck in episode 3 then I don't think it'll work that well.

I think if it'll happen, it'll happen in Episode 4. If not, then there's no way they'd put it in the final episode.

Just a side note, I don't remember where but I think the thread was called "A scene that should have been in episode one" or something, basically the thread was just saying how there should have been a scene basically a dream scene or Clementine crying herself to sleep, looking at Lee's picture, one of the telltale staff commented saying "Noted." so there's a possibility that something like that could happen?
  • That would have been an ideal time to have a dream sequence. Right after Duck being mentioned, damn missed opportunity there. Common Telltale we need to have this sequence. You aim to make us feel emotional during the episodes and I can't think of too many better and more effective chances this.

  • That's brilliant to hear. Telltale know what there doing and must have realised by now that this sequence has to happen.

  • Both times Clementine was closing her eyes to go to sleep in episode 3 I was hoping for a dream. But yeah, if they couldn't make it any more emotional than it was when Kenny was reminiscing about Duck, it may as well not be done at all. But goddamn do I want another taste of the heart wrenching goodness that suddenly disappeared this episode.

Well I want it to happen no doubt about that, but I was expecting it could happen in No Going Back. So Clementine will remember her past life and everything she's seen living up to where she is now and finally accept herself for who she is and move on with her life. That's what I always thought the theme of Season Two could be, loneliness and acceptance.
  • I have wanted this since episode 1. This NEEDS to happen.
  • Yes PLEASE.
I want to see a heartbreaking Lee vision with the "Goodbye" theme playing. I would lose it.
  • Yup. I reckon most people feel the same. We'll just have to wait and see whether it happens over not.

  • Hell yes.
  • If during the seen Lee and Clementine are hugging and then Lee says "you've made me so proud sweet pea and I will always remember you". They talk a little and then as Lee gets up and walked away he slowly dissapears as the Season 1 end credits song Take Us Back plays. Just thinking about it makes me close to shedding tears. Damn, to actually see that on screen I would cry so much I'd need an endless supply of tissues.

Hm... if it'd be well written then why not?

Definite. A scene as important as this would have to be done with absolute perfection and commitment on the writers behalf.

Well... if that horrible new writer has anything to say about it, probably not.
However, if it happens, it would be great if we have a playable dream scene showing NEW scenes that take place during Season 1. Maybe Clem dreaming about when she left the mansion and went to find the marsh house by herself?
  • Yes! Either way the fans would be very upset about it. Very upset.

  • No.

Maybe if it was audio only (like Lee's dream in S1E1) then sure.

But a visual magical dreamland with Lee would just be so ridiculously corny.
  • Judging by the episode 4 slide, I would say yes

    Yeah , I do.

And I think it's gonna be a nightmare, instead. She still feels guilty over the death of her previous friends and guardians. I'm sure Kenny being almost beat to death in front of her didn't help at all.

In all 3 episodes so far she has at least one line where she blames herself for all that's happened in the past.

It would be like, her subconscious haunting her. We still haven't seen Clementine cry over the past in Season 2, she struggles to keep on a tough front.

It would be nice if Kenny could comfort her when she has that nightmare, and then they both start reminiscing about the past. She needs SOMEONE to help her realize it wasn't her fault.
  • I think the audio idea could be a decent idea but it wouldn't have quite as much emotional impact as seeing Lee and Clementine together again talking.

The problem is that a dream just seems an extremely corny idea, like Donut said. Just seems another Hollywood scene.

Why not finding a videotape with Lee or something, the same way it happened with Anna Correa. I know its a long shot but it's better than a dream.

  • I can understand how it could seem corny but I don't care. I just want that Lee and Clem reunion and dream sequence is the only chance we have of that happening.

Yes. A nightmare where everyone that's died is yelling at her and blaming her for their deaths. It could be a very emotional scene.
I'm sure a lot of people would cry along with Clem. I know I would.
Funny bit of trivia, they actually had a nightmare sequence similar to that planned out for Lee in EP2 of last season, where Carley or Doug would blame him for their deaths. They ended up not using it, but the recorded audio is still in the game files.

The survivor's guilt is really building up in Clem and she's keeping it all bottled in. She needs someone to help her through it. She can't deal with this alone, like she's been trying to.

  • I think that it would be interesting if Telltale would brought Lee in some way during episode 4. I saw achievments and there are few possibilities for this but... I think that in reality we won't see or hear Lee again. Maybe if we replay season 1 again. xd

  • Yes, it's a great idea. :) I'm thinking about this scenerio - everyone would blame her during this nightmare except of Lee who would try to convince Clementine that none of this is her fault. It'd be nice and really nostalgic too if there would be a choice for Clementine to hug Lee in this dream too :( Anyway it's really good scenerio (in my opinion) but in fact Telltale has a final decision whether to use something like this or not.
