Do you believe that Nick is gay?

  • Hooking up with another man makes you gay.

Well... If Nick was gay I would hook up with him, even tho I'm not gay, I just frickin' love Nick.

  • Just because he is gay doesn't mean he likes womans underwear. lol

You know, the thought hasn't crossed my mind. But I wonder if he likes to wear women's underwear or has a foot fetish. That's what I'm dying

  • I agree, but if a guy you just met (Kenny) is calling you a "cute match" with another guy any normal straight male would say the exact same thing Nick said and get angry. . . I mean I would. If anything I think Nick personifies a very straight male. Then again I really don't feel like arguing over the sexuality of a cartoon.

I don't think one person with a bitchin' fashion sense is enough to stereotype all gay guys as being fashion genies :P

I wouldn't say it's a certain thing. But the writing has left it open for Nick to be either gay or in a relationship with Luke.

Bonnie's talk about Luke isn't really in a manner that suggests they have any kind of relationship, just that she likes Luke. But Luke and Nick do have a lot of intimacy as characters. They talk about each other constantly and there is a fair bit of inference going on about their friendship.

Given how the Walter/Matthew relationship was handled with the writers constantly writing around the relationship, it is possible the same is happening with Luke and Nick.

As for the "Are you going to tuck me in?" comment. That could have been taken a number of ways and it may just have been how the voice actor performed it that ended up giving it a more flirtatious tone than intended.

Personally I would be impressed with TTG end up revealing Luke and Nick are an item. The foundations are there - Luke's hugging Nick when they find him is a very intimate one, and the alternate hug when they find Pete is also remarkably intimate. So yeah - it could be two childhood friends who are close pals, or two childhood friends who are now boyfriends.

Time will only tell. At least for those who still have Nick alive in their stories. :)
  • Dunno. Actually I hope they don't do as in the comic. Kirkman must really love gays, since in the last numbers of the comic gays outnumber straight guys. It's ok to put some gays here and there as much as normal people (Walter and Matthew already were), but if everyone turns out to be gay, that sounds just exaggerated. I undestand equal rights and no discrimination, but if you exagerate in something it becomes boring after a while

Or is twd teaching us that homosexuals are immune to zombification?
  • No offense, but what solid points?

You are inferring they slept in the same room. This is never proven. I don't think Telltale was assuming we would dissect the house and find out they are one room short.

Nick almost never talks about Luke and when he does it is never in a "gay" manner.

correct me if I am wrong but when the hell did Nick ever caress Luke?

And clearly the tuck me in line was a joke. I mean I thought that was pretty obvious.

Wasn't there like... 3 gay guys or something in the last couple of chapters? Jesus, his boyfriend and another guy who's boyfriend got killed.
In the big picture, that's a pretty realistic amount, especially considering how many characters there are in the comics.

In fact, looking at the wiki, there have been 11 LGBT characters in the entire franchise. 2 in the show, 2 in the telltale game, 2 in the game based on the show, 2 in the comics who are alive, and 3 who are long dead. I don't think Jesus' boyfriend was a main character.

  • Being gay doesn't affect your personality or fashion sense. Those are stereotypes. Nick is the total opposite of a gay stereotype, which is why it would be great for him to be turn out to be. Manly dudes who don't give a shit about how they look can be gay, too, but a lot of people don't realize this because they're hung up with stereotypes.

  • If he was straight I feel like he'd have Luke's reaction, which was more of just an eyebrow raise, because it's the fucking zombie apocalypse and there's no point in getting mad at a guy for thinking you're gay. But if you've been hiding a long time, and you're really self-conscious about it, then yeah, you're kneejerk reaction will probably be "WHAT NO WHAT THE FUCK."

Son if you don't feel like arguing this then why?? are you here???

  • Pretty sure the tuck me in line was a joke, too, I'll agree with you there.

But you clearly haven't been paying attention because Nick spends the entirety of episode 3 either defending Luke, agreeing with Luke, or gushing about Luke and how he's going to save everyone to Clementine. It came off like a pathetic crush.

No offense, but what solid points? You are inferring they slept in the same room. This is never proven. I don't think Telltale was ass

Why do people have to see every single pair of men with a close bond as gay? Were Lee and Kenny gay? Nothing in the game implies that Nick could be gay, except for a comment made by Kenny, out of all people which (understandably) irritated him. Nick and Luke have been friends for twenty years, he admires him to some degree and he is convinced that his friend didn't bail on him. That doesn't make him gay.
  • If people are allowed to think Bonnie has a crush on Luke, then why can't we think Nick might, too? There's an equal amount of admiration on both Bonnie and Nick's parts. No one's shitting on people and going "UGH they're just friends UGH" for thinking Bonnie's got a crush. So why criticize us for thinking Nick might?

  • Why do people automatically assume a character is straight when there is actually more evidence to the contrary?
There is nothing wrong with speculating.

Nobody makes a big deal when people ship a girl and a guy together, why should it be any different?

  • First off, nobody is seeing every single pair of men with a close bond as gay.

Secondly, we're curious because there is more evidence than just Kenny's comment as listed above there are a lot of ambiguous signs that to gay gamers are typical signals of a romantic relationship.

And the reason we're interested is because the gay community are under-represented in games. Usually we get either gross stereotypes or the side cast who are on the periphery. Having a character, even a determinant one, who exists along the story who turns out to be gay and not a stereotype? That's exciting news.

And pulling the population percentages game to say "you've had your quota already" like Ayrtonius claims completely misses the point.

Why do people always assume that two men with a close bond are just bros?

  • Personally, I really agree. I think is plausible to think he is, with all his talk about how he admires Luke and all (and as a lot people mentioned, sounding like a schoolgirl with a crush :P). Buut I think it's one-sided. Actually, I am 99% sure it's one-sided.

And Bonnie probably has a crush on Luke too.

Everybody has a crush on Luke.
  • I am not saying you cannot speculate. You have exactly the same right to speculate that Nick is gay that other people have to speculate about Bonnie having a crush on Luke. I just don't buy either of them (yet), even if BonniexLuke is very slightly hinted in game. It would feel extremely contorted if Telltale shoves Nick being gay in the story, IMO.
