I hope you didn't think I meant that we have had enough LGBT characters, because I don't think we have. 11 characters in a series with hundreds of characters though is fairly "realistic" in the sense that LGBT people ARE a minority, but there does need to be more.
I mean if you look at the numbers I posted, it looks promising, but then you consider that only 3 of those 11 characters are still alive and are main characters. (Aaron, Paul Monroe in the comics, Tara in the show).
That is pitiful representation. In my reply to the poster above I was denying his claims that there were "too many" gay people in the comics recently.
First off, nobody is seeing every single pair of men with a close bond as gay.
Secondly, we're curious because there is more evidence t… morehan just Kenny's comment as listed above there are a lot of ambiguous signs that to gay gamers are typical signals of a romantic relationship.
And the reason we're interested is because the gay community are under-represented in games. Usually we get either gross stereotypes or the side cast who are on the periphery. Having a character, even a determinant one, who exists along the story who turns out to be gay and not a stereotype? That's exciting news.
And pulling the population percentages game to say "you've had your quota already" like Ayrtonius claims completely misses the point.
Why do people always assume that two men with a close bond are just bros?
And what evidence we have that he is gay? Hint: none. Nick's sexuality is completely unexplored, and it isn't realy important. He could very well be asexual, for all we know. Why are asexual people so underrepresented in the game?

I don't think you used the word "contorted" in the right context, here, but if you're trying to say it wouldn't make sense or wouldn't be fitting, I don't see why.
Just one conversation with him saying something like, "Shit, Clem, I'd never admit this to his face but I really do love that guy." Nothing blown out of proportion or turned into a big dramatic subplot. Just a few simple, optional lines you can share with him.
I am not saying you cannot speculate. You have exactly the same right to speculate that Nick is gay that other people have to speculate abou… moret Bonnie having a crush on Luke. I just don't buy either of them (yet), even if BonniexLuke is very slightly hinted in game. It would feel extremely contorted if Telltale shoves Nick being gay in the story, IMO.
That's a strawman claim though. You know precisely why it is important to the people in this thread. It's been explained. Now you're just being argumentative.
Yes, asexuals are underrepresented - but that's no excuse for criticising people for questioning if Nick is gay. If it was so unimportant why are you so invested in criticising people for speculating?

That's a great point! I would love to have a canon asexual character. Personally, I headcanon Clementine as asexual.
But just so you know, asexuals can still have romantic feelings--this coming from someone who's personally asexual, but has romantic attractions.
Nick could very well have a crush on Luke and still be asexual. The evidence of him having romantic feelings has been hashed and rehashed already and I really don't want to repeat myself.

I have to agree with you on that, asexual people are pretty underrepresented.
And now I thought how funny it would be for Luke being an… more asexual(and aromantic), with two people potentially having crushes on him.
Pft. I now want that to happen.
I personally would like to see Nick and Luke as a couple because I was kind of a little offended by the Walter/Matthew storyline. Not about the death part but about how much the writing bent over backwards to not just outright say they were gay. All the "Walter's friend" and the ambiguously framed photo and the blink-and-you'll-miss-it statement from Walter about Matthew being his partner. It all felt like TTG were trying their hardest to not make it obvious but make it obvious. It's the old "gay elephant" scenario that is often played out when a story doesn't want to explicitly show a gay couple. (Also the whole thing of never actually seeing Walter and Matthew in the same room together... sorry TTG, but in my book that doesn't get you a "how progressive" mark. It gets a "another story trying to say they are inclusive while avoiding uncomfortable gay stuff" mark.)
I love how TTG have been showing a lot of great diversity in TWD. And I loved the Walter/Matthew story in so much as the building tension etc. I just wish they hadn't been so painfully coy as if they were embarrassed to admit it was a gay couple. If they reveal that Nick is also gay/bi at least, then I personally wouldn't find the Walter/Matthew thing so annoying because then it does become "gay people are just people" instead of "here's another barely veiled gay couple." /rant
Sorry - I've been a bit grumpy about how gay characters are treated in gaming as of late. :)

Well, i don't really ship Nuke that way. I want them to be bros.
AND BECAUSE I JUST LOVE NICK MORE THAN ANY OF YOU THINK.
If Nick hooks up with Luke, i'd be peanut butter and jelly.
It is the apocalypse who care?! And why is there is a gay love story in a horror game believe me telltale doesn't do stuff like that nick lost everything and it seems like Luke is his ideal he may like him but he is not in love with him
I wouldn't think it's a sign of any hate towards homosexuals. After all, it's the walking dead, basically everyone dies in some sort of gory or disturbing way.
In a way I'm kind of hoping Telltale giving two gays, as well as a possible third, vicious deaths (Matt shot in neck, Nicks throat ripped out, Walter shot in head), isn't a signal of something.
Now I see the connection, lol.
First off:
Shel and Stef seemed lesbian. Becca was tomboyish. Becca being tomboyish doesn't mean an… moreything, but it could signal her as lesbo.
Wyatt and Eddie seem "Close" and Eddie talks about his dick.
Nate said he would give Russell a ride if Russell could take care of his "Needs". He was joking, but Russell didn't really react badly to that.
Bonnie is the exception here. She liked Leland.
In season 2, its obvious Nick is gay, and its confirmed that Walter and Matthew are gay.
Are you gay? If you are then it makes sense but if not, how do you know how closeted homosexuals act? You can't just come out with all these… more theories when you don't know what that certain person would act like in normal situations. It makes most of your points invalid.
It is the apocalypse who care?! And why is there is a gay love story in a horror game believe me telltale doesn't do stuff like that nick lost everything and it seems like Luke is his ideal he may like him but he is not in love with him
Well for a number of reasons. Firstly - people fall in love all the time in the most tense of situations. It makes sense for people to build relationships. You don't just stop having feelings and attraction because it's an apocalypse.
Secondly, it makes the story more than just another dull zombie horror flick. Which is the thing - The Walking Dead franchise is so successful because it *is* about people being people during the apocalypse. The comics and television have people falling in love all the time. TTG would be fools to not include any love story in the game - it's not like anyone is asking for an episode where Clem has to follow characters around while they make lovey dovey noises at each other for 90 minutes. :D

That's a fair comment. :)

But you are. You're asking what evidence is there, and saying it's unexplored and unimportant. You're not engaging in the discussion as presented but instead presenting your own argument and arguing that instead.
Personally, I really agree. I think is plausible to think he is, with all his talk about how he admires Luke and all (and as a lot people me… morentioned, sounding like a schoolgirl with a crush :P). Buut I think it's one-sided. Actually, I am 99% sure it's one-sided.
And Bonnie probably has a crush on Luke too.
Everybody has a crush on Luke.

I hated that too. It was good that Walter and Matthew were in the game at all, but the way they skirted around it really sucked.
Shortly after the episode, there were so many people on these forums claiming "Walter and Matthew aren't gay, they are too cool for that. they are both just really good friends".
It got to the point where Telltale had to explicitly say "yes, they are gay" on the forums.
Hopefully they will learn their lesson and not avoid the issue like they did. (maybe that explains the increased gushing from Nick?)
That's a fair comment. :)

You got a chance to kill nick if they will make a gay love story it won't end up like that--you people are weird nick is not gay it is just stupid to think about it there is million reason why but I tired to think about it I sure if telltale employs read those posts they will LMAO

Lee and Carley had a thing going, no one complained about that being unrealistic. Bonnie and Leland were clearly into each other. Christa and Omid, Kenny and Katjaa, kenny and Sarita, and Rebecca and Alvin were all explicitly together, no one said that was unrealistic.
Having one character say "Hey I'm gay" isn't going to be the tipping point where it becomes unrealistic.

At least I speak two language, also gay guys doesn't know how to hold a gun ugh just leave them alone each time I read a comment or a post I find "gay" word

"Oh hi Clem, I was just thinking about Luke." I started laughing over how much nick obviously like Luke. I personally think Nick is not heterosexual, but who knows.
