Do you think Alvin's right?

If you saved Alvin in episode 2, he'll tell you that he has a feeling that his baby's gonna be a girl. Do you think he's right? Or do you think he's wrong?

  • He can't be wrong, he's Big Al.
  • I wanted it to be Teddy Bear Jr :)
  • He's right. No man with that amount of badassery in him can be wrong about his own child. And it IS Alvin's.
  • I just hope its his. Imagine being left with Carvers baby? Although it seems Telltale made it clear it was Carvers... we'll see i guess.
  • I hope it's his. Although it's a bigger chance of it being Carver's, I would rather one day have Clementine tell the child "Your father was a nice man and sacrificed himself for me and the rest of the group." rather than her saying "Your father was an evil man who tried to murder me and the rest of the group." Get what I mean?
  • That's certainly what I think as well. Whatever genes the child may have, Carver's or Alvin's, it'll be learning from Alvin's example. Family is more than just blood.

  • Two things:
1.It'll be a girl for sure. The Teddy Bear has proclaimed it.
    2.It can't be Carver's... it can't.
  • No, just because of Alvin's track record in being right. Kind of a cheap shot, but Alvin thought Carver had no reason to hurt him now that the group was back at camp when he was taken to his office, he thought that everything would be alright. He also doubted that the group was being followed at the lodge("what are they ninjas?" lol). This may be me being pessimistic, but I also don't think the baby is biologically his because Rebecca said they'd been trying for a while, and then after sleeping with Carver she became pregnant. But figuratively speaking the baby is Alvin's.

  • I think he is right. telltale is known to foreshadow. and it would just be nice, and a heart warming moment for it to b a girl. :)
  • I'm not offended, I love dark!Clementine. yess, let her eyes consume you~ >:)

No thanks... I'll just look behind me... man what a beautiful wall this is. Is it made of 100% brick and cement?

  • I don't think he was serious about Carver not having a reason to hurt him. He most likely said that to calm Rebecca down.

  • And his.

I think he is right. telltale is known to foreshadow. and it would just be nice, and a heart warming moment for it to b a girl. :)

  • Alvin's got a roughly 50-50 chance of it being a girl ... although boys tend to make up closer to 51% of births, not 50%. Either way, Alvin's got a 1 in 2 chance of being right. As for whether or not it's his, there's honestly no way for us to tell. There are a few methods we could use, but all are flawed.
1.) Method 1 - The kid is up light skinned, but that can easily happen if Alvin and Rebecca have white ancestors. White kids with blonde hair and blue eyes have been born to black couples over the years due to that. So unless DNA testing can be done (which I doubt), Alvin or Carver could be the father. It's the south. Interracial relationships have been going on there for like 500 years.
2.) Method 2 - When did Rebecca conceive and who was she in bed with at that time. If she had sex with Alvin first followed by Carver at that time, Alvin's the father. Otherwise, it's Carver. How do I know this? Basic science. Sperm tends to create a barricade to block rival sperm so who ever she had sex with first around the time she conceived is far more likely to be the father, but how likely is Telltale to go into that? Alvin could be sterile for all we know and in that case, the kid's Carver's. Vice versa if Carver's sterile.
3.) Method 3 - Who does the kid resembles more, but there are kids that look nothing like their parents and yet are still biologically theirs. This often results in the child being considered a throwback to a previous ancestor. Since we know nothing of Alvin's, Rebecca's, or Carver's families, this is up in the air.

Ultimately, the father is whoever claims it. Since both Alvin and Carver are now dead, the child is fatherless so does it matter who the father is? Even if Carver was the father, if Alvin chose to see the child as his, it wouldn't matter. Adopted parents have as much right over their children as biological ones. Kenny or Luke could decide to claim the kid as his along with Clem if they wanted to. If they love the child and care for it, then the child is theirs regardless of paternity. Clem was Lee's daughter in that case despite him not being her biological father. Kenny and Lee (if you were on Kenny's good side) were as close as brothers making Duck Lee's nephew and Clem Kenny's niece. In the zombie apocalypse, families can be made anywhere.

Chances are it's just Telltale foreshadowing. Women tend to have more girls in a stressful situation (wars, depressions, etc) so Alvin might be aware of that which makes him more than 50% right on whether or not it's a girl. It also follows Judith in the comics/show. Would be nice to see a baby boy for once, but in the situation, a girl is more likely. Boys are more likely to be miscarried when the mother is stressed or if she's injured. Given that it's the zombie apocalypse and Rebecca has been in some crazy dangerous situations, it's more than likely to be a girl. Otherwise, that is one lucky boy. Unless the kid ends up stillborn ... in which case that is going to be one crazy scene.
  • That is a possibility, he may have also said it to make himself believe it. Idk, I just don't see Rebecca's situation ending happily..as much as I want it to.

  • You're most likely being sarcastic with the Carver and Becca relation thing... but I mean, I just don't like Becca. She's bratty and thinks she's better than others when she's just not. I just don't want the child to turn into a brat which can lead to a bad childhood which can lead to corruption when they become an adult, assuming the baby survives that long.

  • I was. Sarcasm is one of my things (that sentence was not sarcastic, I really am a very sarcastic person). I don't like Becca either. I agree with you that she's bratty and annoying, but she's also incredibly stupid. If Shel had been carrying a gun in her story, Becca would be dead in my game because I would have shot her when she jumped out at me, thinking she was a walker. It should be common sense that you don't do stuff like that when corpses are walking around. And don't even get me started on the boards behind the gas station, because I could write a damn novel on those things and how stupid she is with them.

But seriously, that's the thing that gets me the most about her. I'm about to start a rant, so I've got to cut myself off here.
